01. this is a fan page and a fictionalized account of the late singer-songwriter syd barrett. i have a huge respect for syd and have done a lot of research on him, so most interactions will be inspired by real life events. once again, any and all ‘journal entries’ / interactions / headcanons found on this blog are only inspired by syd’s real life.

02. i will not debate syd’s downfall on here. everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and we will truthfully never know for sure what happened. i tend to trust interviews mostly provided by his close friends and his sister, which can be found on youtube.

03. again, no minors. mun is 21+. no exceptions.

he gathers at the edge of his seat, clinging to lennon’s wisdom; there’s a youthful mischief etched into the lines of twenty-one year old syd’s face that may demonstrate just how true it was in his own case. he preferred the dusk of the underground scene for the freedom it gave, resented the daytime of the pop industry for the limitations to that freedom. far too much sun at the top. ❛ very . . . cool of you. i happen to agree with you, actually. i only wish others did. ❜

he nods like an obedient child before cracking into a wry grin at lennon’s command, gaze plummeting to the ground. then, crown of his head bending, gravitating toward his nearing idol, syd’s eyes lighten in a mooning look of childlike wonder as though awaiting a mystical secret from the maker himself. ❛—-oh yes, certainly. questions, mainly. probly a bit over-curious at times, one might say. . . ❜

he watches lennon walk off, hands to hips, skulking in the corner for a moment longer before he perks with a question. and before he can mull it all over, he's beginning again. ❛ oh, mister lennon—— ❜ after a beat, continuing with a shy smirk, ❛ . . . sir—— i’m sorry, i’m not sure what to call you. but i - i actually did have a question . . .❜

journal entries—— # 01.

my dear libby,

my libby libby glib little libby lib. i lub and lib for you, and wish i could kiss you on the lippy. i miss you dearly if you can’t tell, and i hope you are thinking of me too. it’s been a very long week, and i should like very much to hibernate for the whole next year! i’d even consider putting the last of my art grants to getting us a very big bed if you wanted to join, though i think i’ve spent nearly all on fancy new equipment (see the backside of this letter, where i've drawn some pictures).

rog and i have been at loggerheads for the past few days, which has been quite stressful on the lot of us. he seems to be rather serious about all this, rightfully so perhaps, but i could take it or leave it. as long as i have you, my pretty pretty libby.

we will be touring to edinburgh next week, where they’re thinking of recording us doing one of our numbers. the closest i’ll ever come to becoming a movie star! though i’d hate to be in competition with that paul newman fellow. . . he is a very handsome man! (hehe)

❛   ah , well , that norman fella always did have a knack for keeping things in order ,  ❜ john chuckles lightly . ❛   but i ’ m glad you ’ re here to witness the magic , my friend .. it ’ s you lot that make it all worthwhile .  ❜ he gestures toward the recording studio where the rest of the band is setting up their instruments . ❛   we ’ re about to get started . feel free to find a spot where you can enjoy the music . and , hey , if you want to stick around after the recording , we can have a chat .  ❜ john offers the man a big smile at the corner of his lips , showing that , despite his status , he likes to be a little approachable , but above all .. to keep his feet on the ground .

syd huffs a chuckle at lennon's astute observation. ❛ yes . . . most things, anyway. ❜ he agrees sheepishly, hoping it didn't sound nearly as wry as he intended---- it's only that norman and syd were constantly at odds; norman finding syd to be 'recalcitrant', syd in turning finding norman to be too restrictive. too orderly.

but god, this lennon fellow--- quite a lot like a holiday character, isn't he? there’s a glint of childlike wonder that eclipses young syd’s pupils. the magic! ❛ that's a lovely thing to say, really. you've done quite a lot for us, actually . . . we admire you a great deal, what you're doing; pulling rabbits from our ears, i s'pose. ❜

❛ certainly, i'd like that very much—— uh, the other blokes, they'll be here shortly i imagine, i’m . . . sorry ‘bout that . . .❜ syd wasn't used to being the first to arrive anywhere, certainly not to the recording studio these days. . . but this was the beatles!
