My HMS AU where Heart and Mind get condemmed to Apathy together
This au would take place in some loop where Mind makes very very bad descisions and gets consequences to his actions. A brief explanation of the events:
Proceding the Juno incident, and Hearts punishment to Apathy, Mind and Soul are left at their home. After Heart tried to kill him, Mind gets very paranoid and power hungry, which leads him to attempting to kill Soul. Mind is very fragile and frightened, he’s scared that Soul might hurt him too. Plus, He thinks if he gets rid of the soul and Heart is stuck in a pit, Mind can take control of the Whole.
One night Mind tries strangling Soul in his sleep, but the plan backfires. Soul overpowers him and also punishes him by throwing him in Apathy with Heart. Mind is still reasonably afraid of Heart, but Heart is much less emotional and impulsive. His time here has changed him from a wild beast to more of a sad wounded animal.
So Minds having a terrible fucking time, being imprisioned with his sworn enemy. But Mind is a stubborn bitch and is not gonna take this punishment lying down and tries thinking of ways to escape. He even asks if Heart would help him escape but he refuses. Heart hates Apathy but he hates Mind a hell of a lot more. He’d rather see Mind suffer and decay then free them both. I think at some point Mind contemplates killing Heart with his own bare hands in that pit, because he fucking hates him. But decides not too because Heart stronger than him, and if he got in a fistfight with Heart he could literally beat Mind to death.
With little he can do, Mind decides to wait out his sentance until Soul comes to retreive them. So while they both decay in Apathy, Heart and Mind just talk. A lot. At first theres bickering, like usual. But after awhile, their conversations become less hostile and more friendly. They share about themselves, talk about Soul, about Whole, whatever they can.
I really wanted to think of ways that Apathy woul affect Heart and Mind differently. The images below show that and the intensity of Apathy’s affects over time. As time rolls on, Heart feels less and less, while Mind gets more upset and desperate. And as Heart’s body starts to rot, Minds robot parts start to rust. It becomes harder for Mind to move, and his voice modulator malfuctions a lot. It scares Mind a lot, he’s not used to being so powerless, he dosen’t want to corrode away into nothing. He looks at Heart, decomposing and roting like he is, and they sympathize with each other. In this horrible situation, they have each other, they’re always have each other.
After long enough, Mind can barely move his rusty body, and his voice modulator finally gives out and he can’t talk to Heart anymore. Mind is so afraid he’s going to die. In utter despair, Mind falls apart and cries, with barely a voice to even sob. And Heart, despite a weight of Apathy smothering all his emotions, starts feeling pity for Mind. Seeing him break down and cry inspires Heart to feel something. And he decides to fucking try to get out of this pit together. With all the hope the two of them can muster, they try to get out of their situation.
Then they do that thing where you stand back-to-back with someone and walk up the walls of the hole, and they litterally have to rely on each other to escape. And it hurts like hell, they have just been decomposing for days, but they try and try as hard as they can. Eventually they make it out and celebrate and shortly after they make it to concord yay!
By the way i honestly have no idea what Souls doing most of the time in this au, maybe he visits Apathy often or maybe he hides in his room IDK. ok the end
