#schmoopy school fic where they’ve always been on the outskirts of each others lives #friends groups overlap a bit maybe shared a few classes #but it all comes together the year they’re set to graduate #to blow off steam from all the tests the neighborhood boys start a friendly weekly football match #and the two of them know each other well enough to kind of smile and trade a few jokes #and harry is silly and awful #and louis is stressed because he’s actually got to pass this time around and he really doesn’t even have time for these games #but then the steetlights catch harry just right- #and they keep catching him just right every single night they all get together to play #and louis can’t believe that this boy’s been here all this time and he never noticed #meanwhile harry strategically places himself in flattering lighting with the assistance of his artist friend zayn #hoping to catch the eye of the hot older boy who’s so good at football and drama and everything #then one night after a game when everyone else’s gone home the two of them pretend to be too tired to move #so they collapse on the nearest curb underneath the same streetlight that first helped harry catch louis’ eye #and they talk about how fucking scary the future is and how big everything feels #and how weird it is that they never really spoke before #because as harry says ‘you’re all i ever think about these days’ #and they make out even though its past curfew and they have a big test in the morning #and when they finally pull apart they can’t stop smiling and they both pass the test because it’s just their lucky day (x)
