My ORIGINAL draft for my Degree Show piece in July. This will feature MANY #LGBT icons from over the years. The red strip will feature some, the orange strip will feature different icons, and then the pattern will get repeated! Last day and final few hours at London. To finish the fantastic trip off there was a trip to see the Bill Volia/Michelangelo exhibition at the Royal Acadmey. Monday Lecture: 21/01/19

This was the first day back and the class were for a treat. After a hour lecture about Museums/Galleries and how/why we need them. We headed over to the Wolverhampton Art Gallery to have a look at an exhibtion that was called Hand Drawn {finish title when found}. I absoutley LOVED this exhibtion I thought the artists featured and the work on show was truely special so much so I brought a catalogue so I can research into some of the artists (which funnily enough for one of our final pieces a Catalogue needs to be produced).

I also took the time to have a look at the other pieces of art as it had bee na good 3-4 years since I last went and damn I loved it.

Media Workshop: 23/01/19

As part of the final Workshop rotation, my group had the Media workshop. I’ll be honest... I didn’t really have any clue what was going to happening during it however now I know! 

So to start off we were given two poems about ‘Being Human’, one of them was entitled ‘HUMAN BEINGS’ (I found this to be much easier compared to) the second poem is entitled ‘Being a Human Being’ (BHB). I poem No. 2 much more intricate and more challenging the HUMAN BEINGS poem seemed far too simplistic.

I dived straight into doodling some ideas on the BHB poem and annotating it with some ideas and meaning behind certain paragraphs. I also created a Plan of Action (PoA), I like to do this with anything that is creative because taking footage has a lot of variables (weather, location, etc).

When Isiah spoke to me about which Poem I chose he seemed impressed by the idea that I had chosen the BHB poem as everyone else in the group (from my knowledge) had chosen the HUMAN BEINGS poem. Isiah also loved my ideas and I explained to him that I wanted to move onto the Graphic Design course and he said that choosing BHB would be better since working with Graphics is visual communication.

In the afternoon, I headined into Wolverhampton Town (Mander Center to be specific) to try and get some footage of people going about their day. However, I think it would be better getting my footage on a weekend since the Mander Center is pretty hectic after 1pm. However, Tuesday afternoon I will try again to see if I can get some footage. As long as I can get some it’s better than nothing.

Graphics Tablet

At long last i brought myself a Graphics Tablet. I brought the Wacom Intuos Pro Small and I can honestly im in love with it lol! Its soooo much better then using a mouse do my design work with! I cant wait for the creations i create with it!

Page breaker

Okay, so I haven’t followed my plan at all because I had this magnificent idea to create a ‘page breaker’ in my sketchbook. This is to separate the ‘fine art’ section of my sketchbook from the Graphics section which I will now be focusing on.

For the remainder of my sketchbook I plan on primarily composing any art on Graphic Design. This is because since my final piece will be something Graphics-y and I do plan on moving onto the Graphic Design course after the Foundation Year.

Over the past few nights, I have been creating a poster which shows the most iconic album covers that have been designed. I only chose album covers from the 90′s and before (aside from one) because how album sleeves were produced back then they were designed COMPLETELY differently to how they are now.

Into The Spider-Verse art style

I’d love to be able to create artwork like this, it’s very appealing to me and gorgeous to look at - it’s almost mesmerising...

UPDATE!

Today, I popped into the Foundation Base Room to work on some sketchbook stuff and to continue work on my Queen: Hot Space painting! 

I am proud to say that I think today was a very productive day as I have managed to included alot more content and art mediums into my sketchbook. However, though this is the end of using traditional art materials as such because the final section of my Sketchbook will be dedicated to Graphic Design - Typography in particular.

This is because Graphics is my preferred area of work and my final piece will also be something Typography related.

Tomorrow, I plan on doing some documents (workshop write ups, editing the Bibliography for the Case Study, ect). Thursday, I plan to finish off the sketching on my Queen painting so I can paint it Friday.

Back At It

Even though we’ve got around 5 weeks off from Uni, I took 2 of them to just forget about Uni work and have some down time. After it I feel much better, I feel like sometimes I just need time away from it just to relax for a bit y’know?

My plan for the remaining weeks is to start work on a new painting testing out a Gouche paint set I brought a few months ago. I plan on painting the Queen - Hot Space album cover! This would be perfect to test my new paint set for it’s bright and vibrant colours it features on the cover and plus it’s Queen so what’s not to like! 

I also plan on finishing up some bits and pieces for my Case Study - just some referencing sections I’ve missed and the last minute spelling & grammar check.

I plan to type up my information regarding the workshops throughout semester 1 before semester 2 starts. I will include this in my research file with my artist research, lecture notes, etc.

And as a bonus task for me I plan on clearing out the spare room in my house and converting it into a mini art study to save me from taking over the Dining Table again lol!
