Totally unrelated to my uni work (but definitely inspired by it)😝 After posting my previous piece on my Instagram art page (@reecescreationsxo) I had a request to make a commissioned piece for a friend of his favorite drag queen; Bianca Del Rio☺️ I was so excited that someone liked my way of working and wanted a piece in the same way👌🏼 Just thought I’d stick this on my blog... so excited😁

Sorry for the late upload, I’ve been in a state of perpetual crash-and-burn since Wednesday. So here they are, my finished silkscreen prints. It was a doozy to get there, but I managed in the end. Also I don’t think it’s too shabby that I got five great looking prints out of the twelve we all did, but not before I made some absolute howlers such as above (as well as getting dried up spatters of ink fouling some of the later ones and terrible mis-registrations because the suction table on the printers hate me).
Now I’m not saying all of the five prints are good, they still need a slight touch-up with white paint due to red overlapping into white, but still. I’ve shown this around to my friends and family, and heck my dad even showed this to some of his colleagues at work and they were impressed. So go me(?)
Final Blog - 29/04/2019
So this is it. Since I’ll need to make my way to Manchester Airport tomorrow to go back home to Gibraltar, I’ve finally handed in everything. Not going to lie though, looking at how much others have handed in, I worry that what I’ve done isn’t enough but I’m sure I’ve done everything needed! So everything has been put in a bag and left in room 101. In total I’ve handed in, 1 A3 sketchbook, 2 A4 sketchbooks, 1 A3 display folder (portfolio), Catalogue, A4 display folder (containing all of my documentation and other things), 3 ceramic pieces, 1 USB stick... and I believe that’s it, if I’ve forgotten something then I’ll come back to this blog and edit it!
But anyway, overall I’ve enjoyed the foundation year and fingers crossed I’ve made it into level 4. It was a pleasure getting to know all the new people I’ve met as well as all the teachers as they were all wonderful! I look forward to possibly seeing them in the near future. Farewell.
From Wednesday 13th March to 27th March, we had a fashion and textiles workshop which I really enjoyed as I hope to go into fashion. We had a sewing machine induction, created moodboards and worked with the heat press to create designs that we later used for model making. I found the whole workshop really enjoyable and it solidified for me that I want to go into fashion.
Photography session 9/4/19
We did our photography session today .. Lots of props and dressing up to support the session. It was great to have 2 final years students helping which I found much nicer and they were much more supportive of us only wanting to get the best out of the session. They gave us tips on focus light positioning also which buttons to press and why which is essential in photography. No photos of the actual photos yet as these will be reviewed tomorrow and we will have copies. The lighting and back drop makes all the difference to the outcome .. Black and white backgrounds were used and these changed the mood so much. Close up and distance photos also impacted on the outcome and drama etc of the image. All photos see ID related and there was a diverse approach. I chose my lollipop masks.
Interesting talk on student employment and volunteering etc from the uni Emloyment team. If people want to work abroad or teach in China there are opportunities for those that may suit which is an excellent opportunity for those who want to.
Week 3
So this week has been pretty much self directed as yesterday (monday 4th) we all had five minute talks on what our idea’s are for the exhibition at the end of the year and today we are self directed if we havent been seen, but we gonna be back by half 12 for julia to speak to us.
Tomorrow is final day or print workshop but im a tad behind so im use the rest of the week to sort it out and complete it (hopefully).
Right now though, im just continuing my sketchbook:)
