One day a man holding onto chains that looks to lead directly to a young teen that had a collar around his neck and big iron cuffs around his arms with worn out clothes, his shirt looking to have been burned with the black marks at the ends of it. The teen also had clear black marks on his skin with what looked like a tattoo on his neck, a bit hard to see under the collar but definitely still there.

Man: "You're moving slow Number 35. Come on."

Teen: "I'm moving as fast as i can, no need to-" He got cut off as he soon felt the chain get tugged hard to make him trip and fall onto the ground.

Man: "I had high hopes for you when i bought you. People are still betting on your scrawny butt to win so don't go dying on me too soon, i need you to pay back every penny you were worth and more. I don't want the money i used to go to waste." He yanked the teen back up and started guiding him towards an arena.

The teen sighed, he could do nothing but follow.

Marvin: "Hello!? Oh good! I got through! Listen, I don't have a lot of time to explain! Shit is bad out here! The spirits are running wild, Lishu's missing, Dementia's running low on ammo, I can't find Me, and they're starting to break though the-" *Suddenly, glass shattering noises is heard from the phone before the call cuts out. Something bad is happening to them. Will you go check on them?*

That definitely sounded bad, the young teen was worried so he carefully made his way over to check what was going on. He was pretty worried but knew how to handle himself.

*When he reached the woods, he was confronted by an awful smell. It smelt like rotted flesh and gore. In the distance, he could see a road of corpses scattered all over the place. just what happened here?*

Kakavasha just stared at the corpses, he didn't really look too phased by the scene but maybe he's just used to it already. He carefully stepped ahead to avoid the corpses and trying to see if he could find anyone still alive.

His body tensed up as he quickly hid into a bush in case, now slowly crawling his way towards the groaning, keeping his head low.

*And what he sees is...rather disturbing. He spots a creature with flesh rotting, limping around with bloodshot red eyes and mouth drooling in blood. It can only be one thing: A zombie.*

Shivers got sent down through his spine as he quickly retreated back, yep. He was not dealing with that right now. Definitely not. The poor teen felt scared again.

*And then, he steps on a twig. The noises alerts the zombie to his location as it starts limping towards him, groaning and growling like a mad man.*

Aand he quickly got up, sprinting away in horror. He looked absolutely terrified, looking back to see if it was following.

*And sadly, he was. The feral monster chased after the boy with reckless abandon with a few other zombies starting to join in the chase due to being alerted by the zombie's loud noises. Just then, someone grabs the boy and pulls them behind a tree as the zombies ran by.*

"Holy shit, that was close. You ok kid?"

Kakavasha took a deep breath to try and calm down. "Yeah... I'm okay, thank you for the rescue. I owe you one." He was still trembling a bit.

"I'm just glad that I was able to help you before they did. I'd hate for you to become zombie chow. Still, we need to move somewhere safer. These woods aren't as safe as they used to be."

"That sounds like a good idea, i don't want to be here longer than i have to be." He looked around. "Uh... You know any places?"

A pocket book was pulled out from his coat, and he began sketching inside of it while he waited for his acquaintance to finish their meal. There was no need to rush them, they deserved to really savor a good meal.

Kakavasha looked at the man. "Thank you." He appreciated being allowed the time he needed and savoring the taste he probably hasn't touched before.

It took a few more minutes but he eventually finished the meal and looked satisfied with it. "I'm done. Sorry for the wait."

"Seems like you ate well."

The pocket book was slipped back into his coat, and a couple of coins were pulled out. They were dropped on the table for the barmaid to collect while he got up.

"Alright, we're gonna go gamble. I came here to get some materials, but if we can make some extra coin, I can get some extra materials."

Kakavasha got up from his seat and looked up at Jay with curiousity.

"Sure, you can leave that to me, the extra coins can probably help you a lot too with other stuff needed." He wasn't going to complain, he got out of his previous situation and that was good enough.

The entertainer led them both out of the bar, and onto the path of the casino. It seemed like nothing much changed for Kakavasha, except now he was getting a cut of his own earnings.

"I'll give you 1,000 credits. Make good use of it."

The teen gave a sigh, well at least he didn't have to go in cuffs and chains any longer, that was one plus. Hopefully he can avoid getting hit and the likes here.

"Got it. I can double it... Or maybe tripple it." He seemed confident in himself. Well nothing wrong with that, it means he can go in without being a nervous wreck and fumble things because of that. Confidence can go far in these things.

The barmaid passed by again, dropping the Sticky Honey Roast before Kakavasha before walking off. Jay didn't pay it any mind.

"Not really. It's vague. Maybe i just have to do something extrordinary to get anything." He was looking at the food, now clearly very interested and soon started to eat, looking like he hasn't had this kind of food before with how he was surprised at the taste.

"Hm..."

That was extremely vague and not very helpful, but he supposed with Kakavasha's divine luck they'd probably end up doing something deemed extraordinary sooner or later. In the meanwhile...

"All in due time, I suppose. In the meanwhile, we'll have to make use of your good fortune to earn you some money. It couldn't hurt to give casinos a try."

Kakavasha gave a shrug. "You don't want me to fight for my money? It's not like it's foreign to me at this point. Blood money." He was so young but still didn't blink twice about doing what he had to. "I don't mind going into casino if you think i could get big money there though." Anything to survive.

"Do you want to fight for money?"

The entertainer gave him an unamused eyeroll. The worst case scenario between losing a cage fight and losing a gamble was drastically different. No need to take unfavorable odds for the sake of it.

"I need some extra cash too. I'll lend you some to start, and whatever you make I'll take a cut of. Sound fair?"

He was shaking his head to make himself clear. "No." If he could avoid it that was good but if he had to he would.

"Hmm... Yeah that sounds fair enough. I can agree to that. It's not risking my life and it's favorable to both."

"I'm Jay."

A glance was tossed down to the man groaning in agony, and he wondered if he should hit him again... well, what could he realistically even do to them if he did get up?

"Let's go get something to eat, you look like you could use it. I saw a tavern nearby, and I've heard good things of their Sticky Honey Roast."

He turned to walk to the tavern, and slipped down his hood. Aside from his brown hair, there really weren't any notable features worth hiding.

"Really? That does sound good, i haven't eaten properly." Well that definitely makes sense as to why, the man probably just fed him enough to survive on.

The teen followed, glancing back at the man still laying on the floor, giving him a glare as a warning to not try to come after them if he knew what was best for himself. He pondered if he should ask about any sightseeing of his sister to Jay but decided against it, in the off chance she was still alive he didn't want to put her at any risks. "I can pay you back later in service if you'd like."

"Don't worry about that. I can't ask you for anything if you're starving."

The doors to the tavern were pushed open, and the entertainer led them to an empty table. A sigh of contentment was let out as he sunk into one of the chairs.

"So... aside from fighting what things are you good at?"

Kakavasha looked confused, why was he getting free food? He didn't fully under and kept his guard up. He probably hasn't had a free meal for a long time.

"Gambling because i seem to have great luck... A good runner and i was thinking about looking for something that could help me gain powers to use barriers if possible." If only his lick could have done more for his family, he sighed and was trying to think of anything else as he sat there.

"Barriers?"

A hand was waved to the barmaid, and after a brief conversation she was sent off. Back to the conversation at hand... barriers? Well, he supposed in this world anything was possible.

"How do people normally manifest them?"

"Um... I'm not sure, i have just heard of powerful beings that can grant you different powers. Some people workship them. Think they were called Aeons." He tried to explain, it was such a large scope for a child to fully understand it. "Some grant you healing, others could give fighting powers... I heard. But that you need to do something to gain their gaze."

A rough start

One day a man holding onto chains that looks to lead directly to a young teen that had a collar around his neck and big iron cuffs around his arms with worn out clothes, his shirt looking to have been burned with the black marks at the ends of it. The teen also had clear black marks on his skin with what looked like a tattoo on his neck, a bit hard to see under the collar but definitely still there.

Man: "You're moving slow Number 35. Come on."

Teen: "I'm moving as fast as i can, no need to-" He got cut off as he soon felt the chain get tugged hard to make him trip and fall onto the ground.

Man: "I had high hopes for you when i bought you. People are still betting on your scrawny butt to win so don't go dying on me too soon, i need you to pay back every penny you were worth and more. I don't want the money i used to go to waste." He yanked the teen back up and started guiding him towards an arena.

The teen sighed, he could do nothing but follow.

A strong gust of wind blows through the area, and a young man appears sitting in a tree branch, his legs swinging. He gives the two a grin, though it's different depending on who's seeing it. It's slightly menacing toward the adult, and much more gentle toward the teen.

"Wanna fill me in on what's going on here?" he asks, semi-sweetly but his tone making it clear that disobedience is not an option. Venti was only passing through, exploring during his thousand-year sleep, which means the Venti that is encountering them now is pure divinity, rather than his physical form, even if he isn't using that appearance just yet.

The man glared up but soon felt the menacing vibe. He was sweating a bit. "Well, i-i was just... Taking this teen to the arena over there, he loves watching the fights so.." That was a lie, the expression on the teen said as much, the poor boy looked to be showing signs of fear and was trembling ever so slightly, as subtle as it was it wouldn't go past Venti most likely.

"Don't want to go..." The teen mumbled. If he had no choice then he would do what he needed to survive but still. He still didn't like going through it.

"You heard him, hmm? He doesn't want to go. So I think it's about time you get that ugly necklace off of him and get him home, don't you?" Venti subtly orders. Of course, if the owner tries to get around it or take him with him, Venti will, of course, be following and will know for certain.

"Say, what kind of relationship do you have with this man, sweetheart? Do you know him?" he asks the teen, wanting to confirm the situation before he lets them go anywhere.

The man got frustrated. "And go where? He has nowhere else. He will stay with me." Not going to willingly let go off the poor teen it sounds like.

The teen shook his head. "I'm... His slave, he paid money for me but what he says isn't wrong exactly wrong. I ran... And now i have no place to return home to." Looking closer, he dies seem Malnourished. He wanted to go look for his sister but their home was no doubt gone.

"I don't believe I stuttered. Release him. Now," Venti demands. See, Venti still has a sense of mercy, so he permits the man to simply release the teen before true lethal consequences are administered.

Slowly, he looks at the teenager and smiles. "You'll have a home with me, sweetheart. Is that okay?" he asks, knowing that a slave would thrive in the nation of freedom.

The man looked between the two, ge still saw the teen as a way to make money but maybe it wasn't worth dying over, he went through his pocket the shakingly unlock the shackles. He saw he'd be dead on the spot if he refused further and money won't follow him to the grave.

"...Huh?" He looked surprised, staring at the shackles that fell to the ground upon being taken off, he then looked back at Venti. This made the mark on hos neck more visible. "I... Yes. It would be better than this." He didn't know the guy much do of course he's still on guard but he rather take that road than to continue to struggle so much just to live.

"Good! Now then..." he smiles at the teenager, extending a hand. "What's your name, sweetheart? Let's get you a meal, okay?" he offers, noting how malnourished the kid appears.

He then turns back to the man and his eyes sparkle with a subtle rage. "If I ever hear you've been taking slaves again, I won't be so kind next time," he warns.

"Kakavasha..." He introduced himself and looked a bit around, now that those were off he still had something else on his mind. "Why are you so kind to me? Most people look the other way." He didn't understand the kindness that was given to him, the last one to give him such warmth was his mother and sister. "I would like a meal, but i don't have any money on me. And... Have you seen my sister? She has long blonde hair, a bit older...." She unfortunately most likely didn't make it.

The man gulped and nodded before he ran off with a hurry, not wanting to test the other's patience.

"Kakavasha... A beautiful name for a beautiful child," he says kindly, retracting his hand, understanding it may have been too sudden for an abused child. "Hehe, I'll tell you my secret later on. Just know that I don't stand for slavery. Ever. Everybody should be free to live the way they want, on their own terms~. Just like you should be free to return to your family one day."

He smiles gently, shaking his head. "No need. I have money for that purpose, little one. I wouldn't expect you to pay for anything, considering you're, what, ten? No child should be paying for any of their own basic necessities- that's an adult's job to take care of you. It's something you're owed simply for being brought into this world," he explains calmly, seeming infinitely patient and kind toward the child. Venti can be immature and playful, but he really is a good person with a very soft heart. It's a miracle he even survived the Archon War. "Your sister...? I haven't... But we can look together, okay?" he offers, knowing that more than likely, she didn't survive, but unable to crush his spirit.

A small smile could be seen, it wasn't very big but at least it was a real one. It will probably take a bit of time for him to give any big smiles. "Secret...? That sounds good. Okay i'll hold you to that one." He was relieved to hear someone look at it that way, valuing freedom to that extent, maybe he has been lucky to meet Venti. "My mother and father is... Gone. But if you're fine with looking for my sister with me... Thank you." Oh dear, sounds like his whole family got massecered in cold blood, to then be put into slavery... What a sad and heartbreaking childhood. He looked like he was at the verge of crying but he held himself away from it. "An adult's job huh? Thank you for taking care of me..." Seems he was touched by the kindness Venti showed him.

He nods happily, returning Kakavasha's small smile with a bright one of his own. He can't help but notice just how similar Kakavasha looks to Aventurine, but brushes it off as a coincidence. He'd have to ask Aventurine about it later... "Oh, sweetheart... I'm so sorry about your parents... But I'm more than happy to look for your sister with you, no matter how long it takes." Whether or not they find her alive is a different story, but at the very least, Kakavasha deserved to know his sister's fate.

He kneels down to be at eye-level with Kakavasha, nodding softly and gently brushing his cheeks, just to show that he's ready to wipe away his tears if needed, as every adult in this poor child's life who failed him should have. "Of course, little one... C'mon, let's get you some food in your tummy. Can I pick you up?" he asks, willing to fly so Kakavasha doesn't have to put any more strain on his legs when he's so malnourished.

"Thank you." At least knowing the fate could at least maybe help him try moving on. He looked at the bard, his eyes were definitely identical to Aventurine's. Can't be a coincidence at this point.

"...You want to carry me? I guess i do feel tired. Okay..." He seemed to give the okay and take the help. He let some tears fall, he had bottled things up ever since he was seperated from his sister, he knew she did what she could to keep him alive.
