theo, what do i have to do to ask your hand in marriage?
"probably just ask. if i'm being honest i'm pretty easy."
open starter / location: somewhere in town / time: 4:41pm "AHHHHHH! SPIDER! OH MY GOD IS IT OFF ME, IS IT OFF?!" beck shrieked shaking her clothes frantically.
"you're so dramatic." sierra watched from the corner of the room with a grin on her face. "you know they are terrified of you? it's not supposed to be the other way around."
He hums before taking a sip from his glass. The stinging sensation is most welcome, and the glass is returned to its place on the table. "Ah," air fills his lungs for an eternity before he exhales, eyes scanning the room. "Fixin' up guns is busy work. The repairs I do makes me wonder how they're qualified to have 'em in the first place," he clicks his tongue against his teeth in thought. But quickly draws his gaze back to her. "Think I'd rather hear about your week."
fixated on his words, sierra stared at him as he spoke. "well, i know the people around here so i can only imagine how most of those guns were returned to you." a light chuckle escaped her as she shook her head in disapproval. she wasn't shy with how she felt about the people of jackson and their lack of competence. as she heard him gesture towards her, she shrugged and sat herself back in her chair. "my week was a busy one." she took a sip from her drink and continued. "too many small buildings in jackson make it hard for someone like me to find people." leaning up in her chair with genuine concern, or irritation. "also— why does it feel like everyone here owns a horse? that's annoying." she scoffed, taking another long gulp from her drink before giving him a smirk. "it's a challenge, thank god i like a challenge."
"if you were drunker, you would have accepted that with no problem. and there lies my issue, theo." she laughed, as she always seemed to do when theo was involved. she treasured the time they spent together. "okay, uhh, let's see.." she took a pause for a moment, thanking the bartender for the singular drink they placed in front of her, and the three they placed in front of theo. the sight alone made her chuckle. "i more meant...what's been going on with your routes..and things? is that more specific? listen, i play with radios all day, not very well versed with solider things. besides what you tell me. which, by the way, i am always excited to hear." she reassured him with a smile. "it's good to see you, theo."
"oh, you know me so well." he smirked in her direction before downing the drink in his hand, immediately reaching for the other and giving the bartender a nod. "let's test what i accept when i'm drunk then." turning his head in her direction, he stared at her as she spoke. theo had his wits about him, but being around lux did make him slightly nervous, so naturally he reached for another chug of his drink before responding with a chuckle. "routes are routes." he shrugged. "being a soldier isn't all as exciting as it sounds." he always made it apparent that his job bored him anytime asked about it. "how's playing with radios? i'm sure that's more entertaining than the stories i have to tell." he smiled at her, shrugging his shoulders. "it's always good to see you, lux."
"hey! no...not there. up here." maverick called from up in the lookout tower with a short wave of his hand. once the other looked in his direction, he offered a raise of his eyebrow. "what are you doing? and if you must lie, make it believable or I'm coming down there."
spending her days on the hunt for whatever name popped up on her books, it was never a dull night for sierra. anyone who knew her knew she didn't care about rules, and she was always out past curfew. looking around to see who was talking to her, she shook her head one she put a face to the voice. "make it believable? really?" sierra looked above her, unbothered, as she let out a chuckle. "you look like you'd believe anything as is." she shouted back, hovering her hand over her eyes to get a good look at him. "i mean, honestly, what are you going to do? come catch me? i'm faster than you y'know."
"Now--you listen here," Sebastian tried to speak firmly. The words were serious, but the embarrassed chuckle that left him as soon as he spoke did little to make him sound threatening. It didn't help that a now muddy Sebastian was on the ground, one foot caught up in his stirrup and the other resting on the ground. "Just lend me a hand, okay? Or a foot since I could use a new one right now," he joked, keeping his sense of humor in tact despite his dignity having gone up in flames the moment his horse got spooked by a field mouse scurrying across the main road through town. Moving to rest a hand over his eyes ( a meager attempt to hide himself from anyone who witnessed his clumsy ), Sebastian wiggled his caught foot as best he could to try and loosen it again without any luck. "C'mon--my ego and tailbone are bruised enough. Don't let me suffer anymore."
kourt couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of sebastian, although she tried her best to hide it. "how did this even-" she couldn't get another word out without bursting into laughter and waved her hands in front of her in surrender. "no i'm sorry, i'll help." she walked over to him and knelt down on one knee, giving the horse a nice pat as she freed his foot from his stirrup. before kourt was a nurse, she took care of horses so she knew just how to move his foot out without injuring him or the horse. "if your ego is bruised— imagine the horse's ego." she gestured to the animal while giving it another pat. "now, let me check you out and make sure you're good to go. give me a walk." she stood up, looking at him, always in nurse mode.
open starter location: the bar
"I think buying your drink after almost knocking you over is the least I can do," Diego assures the person across the table, twirling his own glass in his hand. "It's been a long week for the lot of us. Glad to be kicking my feet up."
"oh—it's the least you can do." sierra chuckled, pulling her drink to her lips. long week is an understatement for her. she'd been working overtime and needed to relax, or at least attempt to. "long week? tell me," she paused, glancing at him while swirling her glass. "what's on your mind?"
"you're getting old on me, theo, i would think you'd be up to 15 solo by now." lux retorted with a smile, approaching the other from a few barstools away. lux wasn't a big drinker, but she was a big observer of people, especially here in the bar. lux often found herself looking at theo in that very spot most days. "why don't you start with your five AND my five and i'll take one." she decided, moving to sit in the vacant space next to him. "make his doubles, he said we're going big tonight." she added to the bartender, a sly smile on her lips. "okay, out with it, i want to hear about all the solidery things."
hearing lux's voice put an instant smile on his face that made him quickly pull his drink to his lips to hide. being in jackson, it's such a nice feeling to see a familiar face— especially a pretty one like lux. "to be fair, i did say it was just a start." letting out a chuckle as he listened, he couldn't help but let out a smirk as she moved herself closer to him. "so i get ten and you get one? something about that doesn't seem fair but i can't quite put my finger on it." pursing his lips, he looked at her and shook his head in a joking manner. he was always fond of lux and her quick wit so it always cheered him up to be able to talk to her. "solidary things? you're going to have to be more specific, or at the very least have more than one drink because it's going to be a long night."
open / bar / late afternoon/night
long nights at work have kept theo from using his favorite place to fill the voids in order to keep him sane, so he was long overdue. since becoming a 'soldier', or grunt for lack of a better term, he's been having to pick up the slack around town late at night and it's starting to get the best of him. it wasn't that he didn't like his new job, truth be told he's very good at it when he has to be. the thought of having to 'enforce' rules that he still actively breaks himself to random townspeople feels like a complete waste of time for him. he owed elijah a favor and when they ended up at the same place— he thought it was time he repayed his debt.
as he practically threw himself onto the barstool, he gestured to the bartender to bring him his regular. "we'll start with three and see where that goes." he smiled at them and held his hand out, eager to receive what would feel like paradise. throwing his head back to let out a long sigh, he peaked out of the corner of his eye to prying eyes on him. "three too little? should i shoot for six instead?" he smirked as he pulled his drink to his lips before bursting out another option. "let's go crazy and make it an even ten! five for me and five for you? what do you say?!"
open to everyone location: anywhere in town
Jo hums before taking a quick inhale, words filling her throat faster than she can say them. A joint remains lit between her fingers, "I wonder what the world will look like ten, twenty, even fifty years from now. Think we'll all be infected?" She raises her brows, contemplating to herself. "I hope I'm long gone."
flashing over to look at jo, kourt furrowed her eyebrows a bit in contemplation. "bit morbid, don't you think jo?" she laughed, reaching her hand out to take the joint from her. "if i make it ten or twenty years from now without being infected, fifty wouldn't seem so bad." letting out a chuckle, she shrugged her shoulders at the idea that seemed so nonchalant. "what if everything goes right and we go back to normal. what if that's a possibility?" she knew it was most likely never going to happen, she can still dream.
status , open. location , outside after curfew.
" it's . . . not what it looks like ? " wesley attempts the excuse with about forty - five percent confidence, clear in the way his voice lifts like he's asking a question. truthfully, he just needed some fresh air and he liked being alone sometimes. " i lost track of time. look, you're seriously not going to rat me out for being five min— fi— " he trails off, glancing from the other to his wrist watch, and then letting his eyes shoot open in surprise at the realization of just how late it really was, " s-six hours. " wes chuckles nonchalantly, as if the idea alone was silly. " seriously, don't make me laugh. "
sierra always spent her nights the same, lazily walking around jackson in hopes of finding something to get into. the change of scenery still rubbed her the wrong way and she was having a tough time getting used to the way things have changed. her eyes catching every hint of light as she walked, she spotted someone walking towards her and squinted to see who it was. before she could get a word out, she heard them speak. as he pleaded his case to her, she couldn't help but let out a chuckle. as much as she'd love to act like she was actually going to tell on him and play that game, she decided against it. she didn't like to prey on the young that often. "six hours just walking around? what are you bored or something?" she laughed, raising an eyebrow at the boy in front of her. "listen kid, i won't tell on you, but if you're walking around for that long only thinking it's been a few minutes it sounds like you may have bigger problems." she widened her eyes while tapping her temple before flashing him a sincere smile.
