“I’ve been having these dreams,” Neil answered hesitantly but felt he had to specify if Andrew thought he was talking about nightmares. These dreams were far from any of the nightmares he had ever experienced.

“About you,” he confirmed. The line on the other end went quiet, and with no response from Andrew. “Y’know what, forget it-” Neil felt the need to backtrack; he didn’t want to make Andrew uncomfortable or go across any boundaries that weren’t safe to cross.

“Neil,” Andrew said, but Neil was too busy trying to reverse the damage he did.

“I’m-” Neil was interrupted again by Andrew.

“Neil, stop.” Andrew said firmly. Neil finally stopped his mouth, closing it to keep his words inside.

“I have dreams about you too.” Andrew relented quietly. “It's not a big deal.” Neil couldn’t help but imagine what Andrew dreamt about. Was it like his? Was it just replays of old memories of them two?

“I've been having sex dreams about us,” Neil confessed.

Or: Neil misses the reality of Andrew's touch during his fifth year at Palmetto. When he starts having a series of sex dreams prompts Neil and Andrew into having phone sex to handle the distance.

Surfer Neil basically broke his foot and ran away from the cops and ran to a beach resort that has Kevin Day, an all time star of surfing, and his dad owns a beach resort and hires Neil as a receptionist. Neil lives in a staff house with the Foxes and meets Andrew. I remember this being the perfect summer fic to read.

This is another great Andrew Point of View fanfic, and if you saw my last fic rec, then you know how much I love Andrew Point of View fics. Anyway, this fic is about the foxes being forced to do some PR and help out at a garden to get good publicity. Here's a quote that I wrote from the fic, "I told you, the next time someone calls you soulless, I'd fight them," Neil tells him, his face dead serious. He points his index finger at Andrew's chest, a breath away from touching him. "That includes you." Andrew swallows. "I don't care what you or the others think - I know you, Andrew Minyard. You're worth whatever it takes." Neil keeps talking, and Andrew wants to shut his damn mouth up - preferably with his own. "I gave you a promise. I told you I'd have your back. I said I would stay - and I meant it. All of it. I'm not going anywhere."

At 14, Andrew went to Camp Palmetto, where he met Abram, who was a quiet kid who stuck close to Andrew even if he was an angry kid. 10 years later, Andrew is back at the camp as a counselor and meets Neil. Andrew pov, where he makes friends with the foxes and even with the Trojans, which I wish was canon, but this Andrew has healed a lot, and I’m in love with this characterization of him.

I'll be so for real, I love any of yourinsomnia fanfics, so of course I'm going to recommend this. I love the characterization of Neil in this. I also have a quote from this fic, When Neil wakes for the final time, the room is flooded with golden light. A ray cuts across Andrew's back, clothed in a plain black tee, his body turned away. Neil rises quietly, allowing himself this one quick moment of observation. The muted morning sun paints Andrew's face in strokes of gold, the shadows sculpting his sharp features into something otherworldly. He looks like a fallen angel condemned to the mortal plane. The moment splinters, anxiety threading its way through Neil's senses as he catches himself. The camera is still here. And it will document even this-Neil committing Andrew's soft, sleeping form to memory until it's etched into the back of his eyelids. The rest of it being televised he could almost live with-the stares, the words, the dinner under the stars and the kisses, but this? This is somehow more vulnerable

This was a great long one shot of Neil being an astronaut and Andrew trying to figure out if he's a psychopath, set in the 70’s. I did start this book thinking it was some weird murder thing, but it was actually cute and hot, so yeah lol.

He thinks, if he could be part of this, if he could stand in the middle of the stage in a garden full of monsters, and sing the audience’s veins open, he would never need another drink, or another moment on court. Prompt: Andreil in a rock band setting – tattoos, harsh lighting, calloused fingers, Andrew’s sweaty arms, Neil’s striking blue eyes, someone’s excellent voice, an uncomfortable undercurrent of drug abuse.

Band au where Neil is still a runaway and thief but gets caught by the drummer, who is Andrew; cue Andrew taking him in as their new lead singer. I loved the dual points of view throughout the fic since we don’t get that often. The writing and song lyrics in this book go so hard that I just appreciate the time and effort that went into the fic.

His leg is aching, his interns are all idiots, his charge nurse thinks he should've gone home hours ago, but Neil can't bring himself to leave the knowing chaos of the ER. He tells himself he'll see one more patient. One more, then he'll clock out. Except, Neil's last patient of the day turns out to be a professional exy player, who's just punched another doctor, might be hiding some knives, and seems determined to notice everything Neil is trying to hide. And, well - maybe Neil doesn't want to hide from one Andrew Minyard. OR Neil is an emergency physician and Andrew is a pro exy player who keeps finding himself in Neil's ER. Oblivious flirting ensues. Kevin's there too. Just…being Kevin.

Doctor Neil and injured Andrew, who had another doctor… but punched him in the face. Neil replaced him and waited for Andrew consent. This is dual pov and was so so good that I was going to try to make last for a week but that didn't work.

Neil is only sure they aren’t the same person because his hair is longer, the strands more disheveled, the lack of ornate equipment around his neck helps distinguish him, and because he also swears he just heard the pediatrician in one of the other rooms still listening to his patient’s stories. Doctors Aaron and Andrew Minyard. Neil had thought that perhaps they were father and son.

What can I say? I love a Healthcare AU lol. Doctor Andrew Minyard 😝 is a neurologist, and Neil has chronic migraine, so he goes to him. This fic also has Uncle Andrew, which is a weak spot of mine because it's so sweet.

There is so much wrong, because Andrew doesn’t post, Andrew doesn’t take selfies, Andrew doesn’t go to parties, and Andrew certainly doesn’t race for Ferrari. But there it is, the evidence right there on his own phone. It’s a selfie, Josten’s wild curls and perfect smile, Andrew’s signature deadpan face and brooding stare. Sitting atop Andrew’s golden blonde hair is a bright red Ferrari hat. The caption is simple: guess who lost a bet. Kevin stares, dumbfounded. Andrew went to the party, Andrew repped another team's merch. It's a total breach of his contract, and while he won’t be fired -- no team is stupid enough to lose Andrew Minyard -- he will be fined heavily and probably subjected to a long and torturous meeting berating him for his actions. He probably doesn’t even care. or A 5+1 feat F1 drivers, World Champion Andrew (who is also whipped), Rookie Neil, and Kevin having an existential crisis over getting older

Andrew and Kevin are on the same team I think. I’ll be honest idk much about F1 but Neil is a rookie and in his first season of being F1. Kevin of course is upset becuz he is flopping in this season and it doesn’t help that Andrew is becoming very friendly with the rookie. But this fic made me laugh and have a good time.

Andrew and Neil have made living, breathing masterpieces of each other. Bee suggests that Andrew experiment with paint and paper. Neil has never heard of art therapy.

Andrew using art to heal with metaphors and details I’ve never seen in a fic before. The book also is very introspective into Andrew being from Andrew’s pov and being a survivor of the trauma he had experienced and how he could want that with Neil. 

I know this isn't as much as last time, but I thought I should at least document some of my favorite fanfics from recently! I hope you found at least one fic to read from this list. As I said earlier, if you have any fics you love and want to recommend, you are more than welcome to do so!

“I don’t think you want me to.” Neil replied, feeling giddy as he rubbed at Andrew's neck, feeling his rapid pulse beneath his fingers.

“Shut the fuck up.” Andrew said, but his voice was raspy; he sounded nearly breathless, but the words lacked any real bite.

"But you like it," Neil says, carding his hand through Andrew's hair with gentle strokes. "I like that you like it.”

Or: Neil can't stop thinking about Andrew's mouth; they share a cigarette, and Neil discovers that Andrew Minyard enjoys being called "baby" and being praised.

I love me a good fanfiction where Neil has a crazy, dirty mouth and calls Andrew baby. Like, give Andrew a praise kink even if he's topping or bottoming, idc just give that man some sweetness 🙏 Let him be a puppy dog switch. He is literally called a guard dog in the book😭 If no one else will do it, I will just have to take matters into my own hands.

Andrew & Neil Fanfiction Recommendation

So, a little background: I first read AFTG this year in March, and these fics are just what I have read since getting into the fandom. Since I got into All for the game, I have used many fic recs, Tumblr pages, and masterlists to find more fanfiction, and since I write down my favorites in my notes app, I thought I could share with you all as well! I have read all the popular fics and wanted to share some I don't see often. Another clarification, these fanfictions are all completed works; they might belong to an incomplete series, but the ones I recommend are the ones I read. For the love of your mental health, check tags before you read. Also, if you have any underground favorite fics, share them here!

two sons (56, 926 words) by likearecord Chapters: 18/18 Fandom: All For The Game - Nora Sakavic Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence Relationships: Neil Josten/Andrew Minyard, Minor or Background Summary: Making a documentary about the Butcher of Baltimore doesn't have to mean moving into the murder mansion with his son, but Kevin's never been one to do things halfway.

(As we go through these fic's you will notice I have an extremely soft spot for Andrew's points of view. This was one of the first fics I read when I got into the fandom, and I loved reading the parallel of Andrew's childhood and Neil's.)

What Is It To Truly Lose Control? He knows that Andrew cares deeply about a handful of people but struggles more than he will ever admit with that fact. The thing is, despite Andrew’s commitment to apathy and to denying that he cares about anything, he is often self-sacrificing in his efforts to protect the people he cares about. As Aaron’s trial approaches, Neil gets the sick feeling that Andrew’s self-sacrificing streak is going too far.

The only person he speaks to is Andrew, who knows nothing about him… until Neil's past catches up with him.

(Andrew knows everything about plants and literally memorizes everything. It was cute :)

He'll deny this ever happened once he has coffee, but for the moment, Neil basks in the soft vulnerability in Andrew's eyes. Neil smiles. “Promise.”)

(Okay yes this fic rec is basically only andrew and Neil but I'm a Minyard lover and like seeing andreil through Aaron's point of view. Here a quote from this that make me laugh out loud “ 9. Gay (family history: cousin*). *Is being gay genetic? Further research needed. 10. Afraid of heights.” Like, goodness, Aaron, way to call your brother out. I also just enjoy seeing the twinyards actually have a relationship, and Aaron acknowledging Andrew actually cares for him.)

(This book is very much a slow burn for it to be at 119k words, but I think the timing was perfect. This fic was one of those I didn't want to finish and wish it just kept going, but I finished it, and it was amazing. Also, if I forget this book, this should help me remember. This is the book where Neil eats the chocolate that Andrew bought and gets high by accident lol. Here is a quote from this book as well: "He's not even nice about any of it. Like pulling teeth while you're kicking and screaming." Neil blinks at that, something else popping into his head that he'd forgotten about. "He isn't nice." (This fic made me lmao. It was really funny and really sweet. This is a strangers-to-friends-to-lovers long one-shot about trans Andrew meeting Neil in the pad aisle. Here is a quote as well that made me giggle.                     "You should try oat milk," Neil suggested a few minutes later, as Andrew stood in front of the freezers considering adding another carton of ice cream to his pile. (The yearning in this one was top notch. And it took me 3 days to finish and I wanted more :( But still it was super great. A little synopsis is that Andrew is an author and bought a translated book that he wrote, which he did not know existed, which was translated by Neil Josten. This cues Andrew to go down a rabbit hole of everything Neil Josten and his reviews of other books. The amount of silly bookish quotes and nerdy things made me lol a lot throughout reading. And you know I got a quote  "I could take them," Andrew shots back. "One is dead and the other an idiot, it shouldn't be that hard." "You know me for less than two minutes and already plan to win a duel? Be still my heart," Neil says flatly, but his eyes betray him; he's grinning on the inside, bright as the sun behind the windows. He takes a sip of his drink, a black, boring coffee, and Andrew has only disgust for anyone who drinks their coffee plain. "Keep talking and you'll be eliminated first," he says. "I see you're as charming as through the phone," Neil doesn't waste a second. "You sure your name isn't Mr. Darcy?"

(The whole premise of the book is Neil work in like an underground surgery guy who can deactivate sensors which are put in people to tell doctors that they took their medication. Yeah it a crazy premise but it was super interesting learning about the whole world and how things work. Plus the hurt comfort of this book was banging. Like perfect! There is a sequel to this book but I have not read it. Here's a quote: "I'm going to touch your hand," Neil said. Andrew nodded. Neil took Andrew's other shaking hand and brought it up to his pulse. He pushed Andrew's fingers against his pulse and let go. Andrew kept his fingers on Neil. "Shut your eyes," Neil said. He wasn't sure if Andrew would comply, but after a moment Andrew let his eyes slip shut. And Neil started quietly talking. He talked about cities and highways. Sunsets and sunrise.)

(Andrew's pov of him and Neil learning how to redefine what touch and care mean to them. This was 38k words and starts with Andrew in the Foster care system, and his past families and the effect those families have on him. This fic did make me cry, too, so there's that knowledge. I love fic like this because it's the perfect length, and the fluff and angst in it are like the perfect ratio. Here a qoute: One night, Neil bunches his fists so tightly up that the corner of his nail draws blood; just a shallow puncture on his thumb where he's scratched too hard. Andrew directs him sit him on the bed before he pulls out a single bandage from the pouch his foster sister had once left him, all those years ago. He holds out his palm expectantly and waits for Neil to offer up the hurt. "A butterfly?" Neil asks, as Andrew presses the bandage into place, smoothing the edges down softly. "Since when does Andrew Minyard carry pink band-aids?" Andrew does not answer, The gesture speaks. Neil will hear it - if he wants.)

( I was a bit apprehensive when I started since the whole book is in Aaron's Point of view, but if you want twinyard angst and bonding with a side a Andreil this fic is perfect! Also, another thing is that Aaron is a cop for a second, which I don’t like reading cop stories, but I understand why he did it, and this book is really for prison abolition, which I loved that it preached what the book was about. Anyway, Neil is seen as the butcher and is arrested at 16, but eventually Aaron becomes his lawyer and has Neil read Andrew's book, which is based on Neil. Here a quote: "Andrew and I met at the People's Sexiest Man Alive event two years ago" Kevin explains later, as they take their water break. "We kept in touch." Neil turns his laser eyes on Andrew. "Sexiest Man Alive?" The slight blush on Andrew's face says maybe he wouldn't have minded if Kevin didn't mention this fact. "It's a magazine thing. You missed it, being locked up.""Maybe you should show me," Neil says, and Aaron thinks oh hell no. Andrew smirks, and Aaron wants to gouge his own eyes out. "Break time's over," Aaron says, hoarsely. "Let's get back to the court, yeah?" The rolling of Andrew's eyes says he knows exactly what Aaron is doing. "I'll text you a link," Andrew promises to Neil as he gears up again. "No, you won't." Aaron says, aghast. "You can only text him through me, and I do NOT want to see that." Andrew's smirk grows. "Maybe I'll just have to bring a copy in person." Neil turns his puppy dog eyes on Aaron, "Could he? Could he come to the house?" And Aaron thinks, fuck my life.)

Set five years after the breakout of Cordyceps, Andrew is tasked with bringing an enigma of a man across the country, who also may just happen to be the cure for humankind.

(This last of us au is amazing and so angsty. I loved going through this book through Andrew's point of view and having him be our so-called “Joel”. There is a sequel that is unfinished, but this book, just read as a stand-alone, is worth it in my opinion. The writing of this book is beautiful, and the banter and dialogue of this book are great as well. Here a quote: Mimicking or mocking, Andrew doesn't know, but Neil bends Andrew's arm behind his back. He hears his own blade hit the floor before he feels the cool tip of metal against his throat, Neil's warmth crowded behind him. "Still think I'm boring?" he murmurs, breath ghosting across Andrew's nape. Andrew tilts his head a bit in response, opening his neck: a dare. The blade nicks his Adam's apple as he moves. Andrew matches his volume, voice hushed. "I think you're a liar. "Why's that?" "You said you didn't know how to use knives." That's where you're wrong," he tells him, lightly tapping the blade against his throat. "I said I was afraid of them not that I didn't know how to use them.)

Do y’all collect fanfics like their buying drugs. I take a whole bunch at one time usually I have 60 tabs open of AO3 fics I haven't read. Then once it been a full month and I read all the fics I collected then I go back on and get new ones and the cycle repeats.

I remember seeing a post about someone saying, "people stop speaking , when they realize no one's listening." And this made me really think about Andrew.

Like do you ever think that, Andrew stopped speaking because he didn't think anyone was paying attention/cared about what he was saying?

Then there's Neil, Neil who actually listens to what Andrew says, pays attention to him, notices when he's not spoken in a while, might I add the first person he looks for in a crowded room?!!

Neil, who does in fact prod Andrew to speak when he grows silent for an uncomfortable amount of time 🥰

Neil, who values Andrew's opinion over anyone else's!!

Sometimes I wonder if Andrew notices how important his voice is to Neil, how his voice is noticed and acknowledged it is taken into account anytime Neil makes a decision.

Because, Neil knows how important Andrew's voice is- he knows how much it's been silenced and ignored for so long he just doesn't understand how important it was for Andrew that he acknowledged it searched for Andrew's answer.

And I think Andrew keeps saying no Kevin and anyone in particular is bc, Kevin doesn't know how to handle the word no, Kevin gets angry pushy desperate when he hears the word knows because that can't be it. And maybe one day when someone finally accepts the word, "No" take it and leave it at that, they'll be able to understand the value of yes from Andrew.

Andrew will always be a willing choice that Neil makes and everyday of his life, he will always choose Andrew over anything else in his life 🥹

Kevin made good on his promise giving Andrew a reason to live whether he knows it or not, Neil became Andrew's reason to live.

Neil understood Andrew without needing words, he read Andrew's body language like it was his own religion. New picked up on every switch every change every movement Andrew made translating it as if into a fully comprehensible conversation without a word being spoken.

Neil wasn't easily blinded by blessed a desperation not to notice that Andrew wasn't ready or uncomfortable with something he always adapted, Neil was never starving for a fast pace he was okay and thrived in the slow build of their relationship their trust in each other is what builds them over anything else.

And even then Neil didn't have to understand, Neil just had to trust Andrew to make the right decision.

Neil didn't immediately question when Andrew said he hated the word, "please" he changed his vocabulary and moved on. Neil didn't question when Andrew didn't want to be touched he accepted and adapted.

Person: But he did ask Andrew why he hated the word, "please."

You're right he did but did he question him the second he put it down, no. No because Neil knows that Andrew has his own reasons and whether he's explained it now or later is up to him.

Andrew is used to always being Needed, Kevin, Aaron, Nicky and even at some point Neil.

But, Neil didn't really need him at the end of the day, Neil chose Andrew because he wanted him.

When I tell you that Andrew chose to break his deal with them not because he loved Aaron less than Neil it was nearly the fact that, Aaron would have left him no matter if the deal was there or not.

Andrew chose to let Aaron go, because he was going to leave no matter what he chose, because he knew that neil would willingly stay by his side that Neil did not need to be tied down by a deal, Neil understood him without word- Aaron still didn't quite understand just how much Andrew cared about him and how important and significant that deal was for him: And that's something they still have to work on their own.
