i can't even begin to be articulate about it right now but the way in the last scene tanrak is hiding from barth because he (and by extension the audience) knows he has been found out only for barth to turn around and reveal just how much he's also suffering and scared and struggling with his 'you know everything, don't you? [...] that i'm not god's favourite son.' and the way he sounds like he's almost on the verge of tears when he says that he likes men, and that he likes tanrak, and the way, after he kisses tanrak, he asks 'are you mad at me?' of all things..... like he's just a boy. sent away by his own father because he likes boys. abandoned and lonely and frightened. feeling like he's let down his Father too.... bartholomew you have ruined me so profoundly
Barth not wearing Tanrak's uniform vs Barth wearing Cherry's shirt
[with barely contained lust] well i’m not god’s favorite son either
When Barth asked “Are you mad at me?” I may have lost life points.
Barth’s sexuality has almost always been met by anger; his dad, school mates etc. But here Barth is asking Tanrak’s in an almost pleading voice if he’s angry because that’s the only reaction he probably knows. I almost hear the silent “Please don’t be mad at me too” in his voice. For all his seemingly bold, cocky, teasing behaviour, in this moment you hear the unsure and scared teenager that hasn’t been dealt the nicest cards.
I can only imagine the relief he felt when Tanrak’s responded and kissed him again. Like finally!!!! Acceptance!! I could write epistles about the tiniest moments of this show and still have more to say.
One of the funniest parts about growing up both gay and religious is that until you figure out the gay part, you just think you’re super good at the religious part. “I have never once lusted after the opposite sex. In fact, unlike my sinful brethren, I hardly think about them at all. This is because of how holy I am and not because the thought of being with them sickens me in a way I can’t explain. Also, unrelated, but I would love to take a vow of chastity now.” And then you end up making out with someone you’re not allowed to love on church property and everything you thought you knew about yourself and your entire world comes crashing down.
The thing that gets me the most about the kiss is that, once Tanrak says “I’m not God’s favourite son either” (I’m also like you. You’re not alone.), there’s no shyness or hesitation. They’re not in their heads. They both completely give in to their attraction. They get lost in each other. And they look relieved.
was it you @akkpipitphattana who posted about the tth dates? first episode we establish it's 2025, the priest says it's been almost twenty years [since unspecified event], and we flash back to 1996, which is almost thirty years ago. then in the conversation with his relatives, kongdech says their ordainment is over ten years away. so maybe he meant almost twenty years since one or both of them —or maybe even kongdech— finished their path to priesthood, and the priest saw barth for the last time?
it’s been zero (0) days since his last confession now
SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! LOOK AT THEM !!!

Does this QL have a horse? - Love Upon a Time
The entirety of the HorseInTheShadows admins went into this show expecting there to be horses upon horses upon horses. I, the mysterious admin writing this, was no different. I was prepared to call this show Horse upon a time.
And I had every reason to think so, the signs were everywhere!
For example in NetJJLatteKim’s Vlog in Khao Yai - THERE WAS A HORSE!!! An omen - you’d think.
Even during their promotions of the show where they filmed a small variety show called Case Upon a time, horses were mentioned five times!!
First during this guessing game where Net did a fabulous job drawing a horse and JJ performed a miracle by actually guessing it correctly.
Then this hint that Kim received - that is NOT a horse but he did say the word horse, twice. So that counts, it really does.
Who cares if it’s a donkey if Kim says it’s a horse then it’s a horse - just look at how pretty he looks saying it. But I digress.
Point being: every sign was pointing toward the show having a BUNCH of horses, the promo as well as the show being a historical drama, it would all make sense. And yet…
We’ve watched episode upon episode and there was no sign of a horse. The weeks passed and we were left with no horse to keep us company.
Why god, why? We asked.
And not only that, out of desperation I dove deep into research in hopes it would answer my questions.
Did they just not really have horses in Thailand? I asked. They did - they even have a native breed called the Thai pony which is thought to come from Mongolian breeds.
What about in Ayutthaya, did they not have horses there? I asked, once more. They did. (And yes during the time that Nakun would have traveled to) In the Ayutthaya era, horses were used for processions and war. There were quite a few horse stables spread over the city, most of them in the vicinity of the three main palaces. They mainly came as gifts and tributes - historical texts say that they were not particularly good at breeding or handling the animals during that time though. Here a sketch of the stables for the royal horses.
There is even a MAJOR tourist attraction and huge monument - the King Naresuan monument, one of Ayutthaya’s most important historical figures, who asserted Siamese independence against the Burmese.
Okay I am so sorry the history lesson is over. You should understand now that that the lack of horses is highly confusing. I even looked through the digital galleries of local museums to see if I could find horses on any of the artifacts and I couldn’t.
The closest thing we get to a horse from episode 1 - 11 is this:
I am not saying the bowl looks like a horse, I’m saying if you squint it looks like a seahorse so that has to count for something…
Everything changed though when I saw the preview for the last episode - A HOTEL!!! WE ALL KNOW HOTELS LOVE HORSES!! HOPE WASNT LOST!
IN EVERY QL THEY THAT YOU CAN THINK OF THAT HAS A HOTEL THERES HORSES!!
Well yeah except for this one. 💔
There is riding in that episode, but there is no horse, only the metaphorical one. (Net)
That makes it official - Love Upon a Time has no horse. Who in DMD do I file a complaint to?

So you're telling me Tinnaphop is a damn insane guy like Nakhun is... I really don't know what to think.
I'm not sure if I should be surprised that LUAT was able to serve a character who acts as an extreme opposite of our Muen Phop, just like they did with Nakhun and Klao, all in one episode. Tinnaphop is a nerd, very weird and modern. He's not like Muen Phop at all and I definitely love him for that, like I love Klao with all my heart to this day.
I thought they'd make him a Muen Phop 2.0, but he's so extremely modern, it's jarring. Like Khun is to Klao in personality.
(Also, I'd kill to have Klao meet Tinnaphop like Nakhun with Muen Phop, urgh so unfair.)
