🌊 - enjoy a swim/water sports activity
"You were not kidding– this water is freezing!" Laurel laughed after having plunged into the lake, her body immediately gaining goosebumps the second she broke the surface. She'd not wasted time, jumping in right after Gwen did and happy for the refreshment of the icy water during such a hot day. She laid back out on the water, letting herself float as she enjoyed the peace and quiet around them. "Did you bring the cooler that was in the car?"

🌮 - stop by a food truck
The air was hot from the temperature of all of the griddles, the unmistakable smell of grilled meat and vegetables hanging in the air around them. People were scattered amongst the trucks, poking their heads in the windows and ordering the greasiest and messiest meals anyone could ever imagine. "But the kebabs?" she all but gasped, pointing over to the other truck she'd spotted. "But the loaded fries," she then argued with a pout as she spotted another. "Fuck– should we just grab something from every truck and share it all?" Laurel then twisted to him expectantly. "I mean it's the only true way to know which one of them is the best... right?"

🍖 - have a summer barbecue
Laurel was licking barbecue sauce off of her fingers when she spotted the other. She admittedly was a little surprised he'd actually come, but a sense of comfort had washed over her upon seeing him. "Grab a paper plate and help yourself," she welcomed casually, trying not to make a big deal of it. If he was giving her a second chance at maybe being friends, she didn't want to screw that up. "I hope you're hungry– everything here is amazing. I helped make the rub for the ribs myself," Laurel added proudly.
@doricntorrcs
"Face it, mate. You're old." Erin joked. "I would, but I got up early this morning to go on a run so I might be - fuck, now I'm sounding old! You know what? Yes, let's do it, prove to ourselves we're still young." She replied. "Maybe we get a whole bunch of flavours, test them out and see what's best?"
"How... how dare you honestly," she shook her head at Erin's teasing. "Yeah– that's right. You get up early to go on runs. That's old people behavior for sure," Laurel took the opportunity to poke back at her best friend. "I'm so glad you're game. It's going to be so much fun," she grinned passionately. "That is a perfect idea! I fear we're going to explode from all of that but like... we'll have fun doing it and that's what truly matters."
"Oh come on, I distinctly remember us waiting in lines longer than this when we were underage, hoping to get into clubs. Maybe you're just getting old." Erin teased. "I think they're best with dulce de leche, but they've got a whole range of dips on the menu."
"Oh Godric–" Laurel's face fell in horror, "You might be right. No– no, I can not be getting old." The brunette seemed absolutely appalled. "That's literally my worst nightmare. Should we go clubbing tonight?" she suggested, half-joking and half-serious about proving to herself she was still cool. "That sounds amazing. I was originally thinking chocolate but now I need to try the dulce de leche. Or we can get an extra serving and another dip with that."

"Look, I know the line is long, but I promise you, these are the best churros I've ever had. They're worth the wait.
"I really need these to be life-changing, Erin. My feet are killing me," Laurel complained as the queue they were in seemed to drag on. "Do you just get the classic or is there like a flavor or dip for them or something you'd recommend?"
🍦- get ice cream together ( @laurelcllivanders )
"Yes, ice cream! That's a great idea!" Octavia exclaimed in agreement, "It is far too hot out today. It's ridiculous. I might have to get three scoops. Treat myself."
"I am so glad you agree," Laurel grinned back. "I was going to say– if today isn't a treat-yourself-day then I don't know what is. I feel like I'm going to have a hard time narrowing it down to three flavors but I also don't think I could handle more than that right now. I've made that mistake before."
"I don't blame you, honestly. It threw me for a loop, holy shit." Erin replied, before chuckling. "I will. She loves you anyway, I'm sure she'll take it as the highest sort of compliment." She nodded along. "It's weird, isn't it? Sometimes I feel like school wasn't that long ago, and then other times it feels like forever. Being in your twenties is weird." She mused. "I don't know. Maybe I could go for a layered cake, that way there'd be a bunch of different flavours."
"And understandably so," Laurel exaggerated in response. "Aw I love her too. She's the best of the best," the brunette replied with a warm grin. "That sounds good," she nodded enthusiastically. "Although I also wonder if they'll still taste so good all mixed together," Laurel mulled over, clearly giving this more thought than necessary. "But then again who cares it's cake and it'll be great no matter what. And it's your birthday so of course you call the shots."
"I mean, I wouldn't say we're besties," she said. "I enjoy hanging out with him. I hope he would say the same." Ophelia had been having trouble getting close to anyone since her ex.
"Okay uh– that's cool, that's cool," she nodded vaguely, definitely appearing off in that moment. Laurel couldn't seem to get herself together and pretend, so caught off guard by the new information. "So... do you hang out a lot?"
"Hardly." Raphael scoffed when the woman insinuated that Dominique didn't allow him to do certain things. "I keep myself on a tight leash because I know how to behave appropriately. Besides, beautiful though you are, there is nothing you could give me that would be worth hurting her for." Nor ruining what they were currently developing. He'd felt the repercussions of that once before. Raphael knew he'd be a fool to do that a second time, and, as attractive as he had pointed out the girl was, she couldn't hold a candle to Dominique in his eyes.
"Kinky," Laurel couldn't resist teasing when he mentiond keeping himself on a tight leash. In all seriousness, she could admire the loyalty there. Clearly he spoke highly of the woman who'd seemed to have captured his attention and someone would have to be pretty heartless to not be able to respect that. "However I will also pretend to not be offended by the whole 'there is nothing you could give me that would be worth' thing because I have plenty to offer, but you're the chivalrous type so like, I get it. It's admirable," she then added with a light laugh. "She's a lucky girl."
"Wow, what happened to the whole 'supportive best friend, you're living your own life schtick', you're not supposed to start spiralling with me." Erin replied. "I'm going to tell her you said that, she'll love it. Right? Like, I can barely take care of myself right now, let alone a whole child." She laughed. "Well, ambiguous cool girl is kind of my whole vibe. I think I'm going to go for it."
"Sorry– sorry. The whole kid thing really threw me for a loop," she admitted through her laughter with a wave of her hands. "You definitely should. You can quote me and everything– she's sick," Laurel grinned when Erin said she'd pass on what she said to her mother. "Right? Like... I still don't feel like a real adult sometimes and I hate that but it certainly makes me the opposite of mother material right now." She laughed along with Erin at that, "It totally is your vibe. I love this. Do you know what flavor you're going to go for? Or are you going to make that a mystery too?"
"I'll hold you to it then," she told him with the ghost of a smile on her lips. Laurel always liked feeding into her competitive nature and to feel like there was a semblance of that banter between them again felt really nice. While she knew she still had to work to get any sort of trust or friendship from him again, it didn't feel as impossible as it had before. "Hey, Torres, uh– thanks," Laurel added quietly, not wanting to ruin the tonal shift but wanting to get it out there nonetheless. "For the talk and hearing me out... I appreciate it."
It felt like their conversation was coming to a natural and surprisingly comfortable close. He'd been moving to head off when he heard his name being called out and he paused in his tracks, waiting silently for whatever it was that the girl wanted to get off her chest. Surprisingly, he'd not been expecting that. "Yeah, well... maybe I needed it more than I thought too." Dorian admitted after a moment. "I appreciate you waiting for me to be ready too."
There appeared to be a moment where Laurel seemed to gain her usual spark back. He could see it in the way her posture straightened up and the look in her eyes. It wasn't' that the burden of what had happened between them had been lifted completely, but more that the weight of it had been lessened at least a little bit. It really brought home to Dorian just how much this had also had an impact on her. There was no question in his mind now just how much regret she felt for the whole situation. Whilst he'd not exactly been eager to resolve things originally, he was glad now, it had happened organically and that felt so much more fulfilling.
"That's not an if but a when." Dorian assured her, knowing that they were both as determined in that pursuit. "But I'm glad you will put up a fight. It's not as fun if you make it easy. Besides, I'll enjoy gloating far more when I win then."
"I'll hold you to it then," she told him with the ghost of a smile on her lips. While she knew she still had to work to get any sort of trust or friendship from him again, it didn't feel as impossible as it had before. "You know, I realised the other week that I'm the same age that my mum was when she started having kids, and I genuinely had to go and have a lie down, because what you mean, she was practically a child." Erin exclaimed. "Throwing a funeral for your twenties sounds super metal, I love that for you." She laughed. "I like that idea. Maybe we just put the candles in the shape of a question mark, leave people guessing."
"Holy shit dude... what the fuck?" her eyes widened at Erin's revelation. "I think I would be spiraling if I were you. Like... of course your mum's metal af but the thought of having kids right now is like a living nightmare for me, I dunno about you," she added, mouth still falling agape. "Ok, I love the question mark concept. It's ambiguous and giving cool girl," Laurel described what she was picturing as she began to visualize everything. "Not to mention it'll most likely look good on socials if you want to post any photos."
He didn't really know what had compelled him to say it, only that it was the truth. Of course, how things had ended had definitely soured the memories somewhat but they were still good. Right up until that point they'd probably been some of his best. Whilst he might have regretted making the decision to get involved with a member of his team, he didn't regret Laurel at least. Hell, in different circumstances he'd probably not have put up so much of a fight. However, he'd been hurt by her, deeply so but the frankness of their conversation now; now that he was finally able to hear her out without his bitterness getting the better of him was allowing him to see the truth of the situation. She'd been a scared little girl who had acted on impulse. Like him, Quidditch was practically everything to her and she couldn't see a life without it. Faced with the possibility of that being taken away from her, it had caused her to act foolishly. Selfishly even. He could forgive her for that, even if forgetting it would prove more difficult. "No you won't, but I don't expect you to." Dorian answered after a moment. Her actions could have done irreparable damage despite that not being her intentions. "You may have shot yourself in the foot a little there though..." He said, offering up a small smile to show he held no ill will in his words. "It's far better to have me on your team than against you. As much as I admire the Holyhead Harpies, I fully intend to take you all down."
Him saying he didn't expect her to felt oddly freeing in a way. While Laurel still harbored the guilt and – with all this time to think it over –also believed it was good for her to have been faced with the consequences of her own actions, it was nice to know he wasn't holding this over her head forever either. It seemed like Dorian was open to moving past things too. It probably hurt too much to think about on a regular basis for him anyways.
Her ears perked up curiously when he mentioned that she had shot herself in the foot, watching the small smile that, to Laurel, was enough to light up his dark features. She wondered if she'd ever see warmth like that from him again and even getting a glimmer of it was enough to provide her with a sense of comfort. "I do not say this lightly and I know you know I mean it when I say that–," she started off with a stern tone, "–but if someone's going to kick my ass on that field I'm glad it's an honorable opponent like yourself," she then smiled back, that familiar and fiery glint of hers finding its way back into her eyes. "However I wouldn't bank on that victory so soon. I can put up quite the fight."
"Perhaps you should just leave him be then, Laurel," Ben said with a sigh, "I know your intent is good, trying to fix things, but if he doesn't want anything to do with you, that's his choice. You could make things worse for both of you if you push too much."
"Yeah– I know you're right," she sighed heavily. It was the answer she didn't want to hear, but had been anticipating all the same. She didn't want to consider that this was really the end of all things her and Dorian forever but it was what was best for him. And it seemed to be what he was preferring too. "It just... sucks. I really did like him," Laurel admitted with a light shrug. "But there's nobody to blame for all of it blowing up besides myself."
