I never wrote my sappy HAIR post. So buckle up. This is 3 years in the making. This Saturday will make 3 years since auditions were held. Lemme take you back... 😂😉😘 On this day, exactly 3 years ago, I posted about the upcoming auditions for HAIR. I didn’t even know how much my life was about to transform. I was stagnant. I was ready for a change but didn’t know how to get it. I was nervous about taking on this super important show and this huge cast. I had never directed adults and my process of music directing was FAR from conventional. It was my own strategy and a bit eccentric to say the least. 😆😆 I was just getting back into theater. I had only done one show and one guest role at this new (to me) theater. My knowledge of Hair ranged from minimal to nonexistent. And now here I was being entrusted with its success. I didn’t think I could do this. I almost didn’t. I almost didn’t. 🤯 How tragic that would’ve been to not have this life changing experience. When I say “life changing” I mean that and a whole hell of lot more. I got new loves. New lessons. New wisdom and understanding. New memories. New confidantes. And most importantly new growth on my family tree. I hit the jack pot and it overflowed with infinite inspiration in the form of beautiful, hilarious, creative, talented, loving human beings. Nothing in my life has been more pivotal than meeting my tribe. It was what I imagine giving birth to be like. Or more specifically the joy experienced after. Lol! The creation of The beanie babies. Buckees Bitches. The green dream team. The pajama squad. The Dead end divas. He is Barb. The Harold ! The most beautiful beast in the forest! HOW? DAYUM! Dusty Anne Lyons or “DA”. Omg AMYYYY! Lol! 😬😬 Y’all know. ❤️❤️ I kid you not, these people taught me so much about life just by being themselves. They gave me so many things I have always craved in friendship. So I found this bird pic made with real feathers at my favorite antique shop! I love it so of course I bought it. Well here I am ready to open them up in order to clean the frame (I always do this) and good thing I was sitting down because as I flipped over what I thought was a filler paper she appears. It’s a sketch by Ty Mahon a late 1920s -1930s cartoonist and artist. It’s on thick drawing paper. Bristle board possibly. Anyone have any info?? What’s she called? We think she’s an early dipicyion of the Dońa Castile character from some ads he did, but we CANNOT find this pic anywhere. She could be original. We’re leaning towards that for multiple reasons. In around 9 hours my boo, one of my favorite humans on this earth, @hedricckk is leaving Louisiana for NYC!!!! I’m so proud of you I could burst!
