In case anyone was thinking of starting critical role, here’s one reason why you absolutely should. the cast isn’t perfect and unproblematic, but damn did they make sure to use the correct pronouns for Bryce and correct each other when they didn’t. On top of the NPCs there are multiple main characters in both the first and second campaign who are LGBTQ+. There are characters who are working through trauma, PTSD, and dealing with marginalization and racism. There is a focus on forming bonds and chosen family. All done by some nerdy ass voice actors who wanted to stream themselves playing D&D. The community is great and supportive of one another, and there are multiple donations made to charities, especially charities focused on helping children in need, using funds raised during streams and one shots.
