it was the first day of college and donna knew she had to talk to david. she had been dreading it all summer since their break up but he had asked to meet her and the least she could do was listen to what he had to say. not that she wanted to hear anything from him ever again. especially not after what he had done. they had been together since high school and she honestly thought they had a mutual respect for each other, that they loved each other and that he would wait until she was ready to have sex. but apparently he had other plans, plans that didn't involve their relationship or donna for that matter. he may have felt bad but the only reason that he was truly sorry, was because that donna caught him. walking down the staircase, she already spotted him. he was coming her way and she could already feel her heart beating fast. she wasn't going to say anything. she would just look at him and wait for david to start the conversation.

donna truthfully had every right to be mad at david for the events that happened between the two of them. it had nothing to even do with donna. it was all him. he was the reasoning as to why they weren't together anymore. and if donna wasn't able to ever forgive him, then that was truly just something that he was going to have to get used to on his own. when he had seen donna walking down the stairs he figured she would've just went in the complete other direction from him. when she stayed he made her way over to her. more than anything she deserved an apology from him and wanted to at least be able to give her that much in return. brenda wasn't sure if she could ever forgive both dylan and kelly for what they had done. when two people that you trusted with your entire life, you gave them that trust, to have it betrayed? it was something fragile and something that you could never get back. but dylan wasn't just anyone to her. dylan was the great love of her life and her first everything. if he would take her back, she would go in a second. but brenda wasn't sure where he stood with her or where he stood with kelly. were they broken up? were they just fighting this week and get back together the next? she had seen that a lot lately with the two of them. they would be fighting one minute and kissing the next. brenda's thoughts were interrupted once she heard the knock at the door. taking a few deep breaths, she finally opened the door and smiled sweetly at the person standing on the other side. ❝ hey, dylan. come on in. ❞ after she closed the door behind them, she lead him into the kitchen. she was sure he was hungry considering he had nothing in his fridge half the time unless he started cooking all of a sudden and she wasn't aware.

dylan didn't really think that brenda ever would've wanted to speak with him again. and truth be told? it wasn't like he would've even blamed her for it. he knew what he did with kelly was wrong. he knew it shouldn't of even started before it began or get as far as it did. the last thing that he ever wanted to do was hurt brenda. she'd been the one in his heart for as long as he could remember before he just had to go and mess it all up. right now? he was not with kelly. the two had argued on and off for quite a while. she never let him get a word in, especially when the argument had solely been about brenda. things were never the way they seemed. the way that dylan & kelly got together. or the way they had both betrayed brenda when they were the two people in the world closest to her. after months of kelly & dylan being apart, it was college now. a time for all of them to start over but brenda couldn't continue with her life until she knew. until she knew the truth about everything. since coming back from minnesota the place that she thought was her home, she had been hanging out with dylan a lot. as friends of course but still spending time together. now he was coming over & whether she wanted to hear the truth or not, the conversation had to go somewhere in order for her to know if there really would be a them again. she knew if they did get back together, there would be a lot of talk. especially with kelly. but this wasn't about kelly or how anyone else would react. it was about dylan & brenda & their futures as friends or as something more.

dylan made the worst mistake when he betrayed brenda with kelly. he wasn't thinking and made a decision that would entirely cost himself his relationship with brenda for good. he knew kelly was her best friend and he still did what he did. something he truthfully wasn't proud of. brenda deserved so much better. from the both of them. the truth. brenda deserved to know it all. he thought this was something that had passed. something she'd gotten over a while ago now, but he wouldn't deny her the simple and honest truth if she really needed to know. he owed it to her, if anything. the future could hold many new opportunities for them; but he wasn't quite sure what direction brenda wanted to take their rekindled relationship in. when he approached the walsh household he knocked on the front door and awaited to be granted entry.

kelly was stressing out all weekend about this. all weekend thinking about the kiss she had shared with brandon on his retreat. of course in a way they were doing it so that josh couldn't figure out the truth. but in the other hand, they both had confessed to having feelings for each other. & then there was the fact that kelly was in a relationship with dylan. what was she supposed to do now? she had always wanted something to happen with brandon. everyone knew that. but now she was in a serious relationship with his best friend. the only thing she could do was talk to brandon first & ask him how he felt. how he really felt about her before she went into the lions den & confessed everything. before going to school, she decided to stop by the walshes house first. she really hoped that brenda wasn't there because she really didn't want to have to explain why she was there. standing outside of brandon's house, she nervously knocked on the door.

things had been so screwed up lately that marissa didn't know what to do anymore. about anything. the only thing that she knew for sure was her relationship with ryan. although it had been a little complicated & confusing. but now that his brother was gone, maybe things could go back to the way they were. maybe they could go back to being them & them being together like how they were before any of the stuff that happened went down. marissa was sitting in their usual booth sipping on a milkshake as she waited for ryan to get there. they had to talk about this school thing together because not only was marissa out of harbor but now since punching the dean, ryan had as well. & that was something marissa couldn't handle. she couldn't let him throw away his future for her.

in the end the decision to call marissa had been easy, even if alex hadn't been sure on what to say, or even if it was the right thing, but she needed to know why marissa had called in the first place. it didn't feel like it was just to catch up or go for a coffee or something, but she didn't want to guess. she kicked her foot against the floor. "yeah," she began, trying to find her words, "i wasn't sure if was supposed to call, or more like how long i was supposed to wait," she confessed. eyes closed, as she tried to move the conversation forward, "i was surprised to you called, with-" she trailed off, not sure on how to say it without sounding to harsh, "everything." she took a deep breath, "so..." before conversations between them had been pretty easy, and talking on the phone with marissa had felt natural, now it felt forced.

"maybe you haven't heard of them because you haven't widen your music library," he suggested, "if you say something you like, i'll try to find something i like that reminds me of what you like and we can see if you like it."

basketball had been the one thing in his life that he knew that he was good at. something that he could do. something that was his, even if dan tried to make nathan's success his own. basketball had been the first love in his life, but it wasn't the most important one, not now, not since haley even if he had a hard time to voice all of that at times. it was still the truth. "i think i deserve some burgers and fries after this game." he reached for her hands, "and we can swing by the café." it was one of the few places where he might not have a run in with dan, but after this game he wouldn't mind it, well not as much as he normally would.

"as long as you know i'm good company, or at times the best company," he replied, "that's all i care about." he shook his head, of course brooke was going to wait for haley, and he didn't mind the company. "i'll grab you some and then you can throw your ideas at me and i'll see what i can do to help. sometimes all you have to do is voice them." he grabbed a bottle for brooke and handed it to her before taking a seat himself. "yeah, i've never tried but i know that it's going to be worth it in the end." he took a sip from his own water, "i would say that a second opinion is great." nathan leaned back, "okay, i don't know what you should add, but don't add to much, just make sure that what you do is something you can handle. besides i don't even know what you already got."
