counter with puppy eyes, make him forget why heâs mad. make sure youâre not in deep shit. you donât want to be in deep shit. youâre adorable, remember that. make him remember that too.Â
the puppy eyes are a sweet touch, and he knows heâs being played like a fool here, but he softens up-- just a bit. mainly because heâs not aggressive anymore, but also because---- goddamnit. â done looking at me like that? â
----the youâre in some deep shit look. must mean youâre in some deep shit.

đ what are my museâs requirements for a potential partner?
Just make him feel like he is not the hollow shell of the person he once was.
Russell just needs someone really, really patient. Itâll be rare for him to look for anything serious, but on the off occasion that he does, heâll need someone whoâs willing to wait for him to take as long as he wants in opening up, in getting comfortable with them. Heâll need someone who understands that he wants to avoid sleeping beside them for a while because of night terrors, because of some tossing and turning in his sleep, thrashing when itâs at its worst.
Additionally, for Godâs sake, make him laugh. Itâs honestly not something he really looks for, but he really needs it. Have a sense of humor, bring a smile to his lips every now and then. Coax a little more out of him than curt, choppy replies by dialing up the fun and charm.
Finally? Youâre going to have to let him worry about you. Itâs part of his mentality, looking out for those around him. Heâs naturally going to worry, going to want to protect you where he can from whatever it is you need to be protected from. Heâs not overbearing, but it might be exhausting sometimes; again, be patient. Let him know calmly.
Also he needs someone who makes sure he eats and sleeps regularly good lord.
đ Is my muse into monogamy?
sex + romance headcanons.
Sure. Trust and loyalty can happen between two people if theyâre both devoted to one another, and if he finds someone who is willing to or wishes to stay monogamous with him he'll oblige them if heâs as devoted to them. Otherwise, he wonât lead them on, will call whatever the arrangement is off right there so as to not keep someone hanging onto the possibility of being something special.
Thatâs not to say he doesnât think the same trust and loyalty canât happen between more people. Polygamyâs not bad, either. He hasnât ever found himself in the situation for it, but he wouldnât rule it out of things heâd try.
Basically, heâs indifferent to monogamy / polygamy, as in just do your thing and what makes you and your loved ones happy. If he finds himself in a monogamous relationship, great. Polygamous? Cool.
Heâs not really much of a relationship guy though, so itâs not like these are things that happen often.

"You can't keep treating yourself like this."
profound sentence meme.
Should be pretty impressive that itâs not something he hears often, he thinks, that heâs relatively good at keeping himself put together. Far as most people around him are concerned, heâs just a quiet man with military experience under his belt who knows how to give orders, and who earned his respect in his precinct.
So itâs pretty jarring, being seen, read like a childrenâs book. Then again, since getting wrapped up with the angel, with the hunter, with demons and whatever the hell else they hunt out there, theyâve even seen him nearly die. And that? Thatâs him at his worst, thatâs followed by a long period of absence later. If there is ever a time to see Russell in fragments itâs when his life is slipping between his fingers, when he can do little more than lie in wait.
Itâs never because heâs desperate to live. Itâs because heâs so quick to surrender, because dying doesnât seem all that bad, and it just makes him tired, and heâs had it coming for decades.
Surviving. Surviving is the hard part.
He feels gone, for lack of a better term, has felt like this for a while. He wants to feel here, whole, but every time he tries to find some light to latch onto heâs beating himself back down again, reminding himself that he shouldnât be here, some fatal combination of survivorâs guilt and just guilt.
Guilt thatâs there for a reason.
    Castielâs talking bullshit.
â Like what? â Thereâs a bite to those two words, and Russellâs head tilting inquisitively, daringly all at once. Heâs not good like this---- canât quite seem to get a hold of himself.

deviincta:
doesnât take even an ounce of effort to haul him to his feet. if he wasnât so completely wasted, he might have noticed that little fact. normally sheâs more wary; more dismissive of strange men in bars. sheâs been around long enough to know better than to trust them. but heâs so drunk heâs practically dead on his feet. sheâs strong enough she doesnât need to worry about it. so sheâs letting her caution slip, just this once.
wolfin grunts, turning away to leave the bar. she keeps her ears focused on the sound of his footsteps behind her to make sure heâs following.
both of them reek of alcohol. watching them walk down the street together must seem almost comical; wolfin striding confidently ahead into the darkness while he staggers after her like a lost dog. like two lovers after a drunken argument.
âuh huh.â she gets the idea without him finishing the sentence. itâs pretty obvious; sheâs repeated it to herself plenty of times. wolfin doesnât need him to make excuses. doesnât need him to try and make small talk. thatâs not what sheâs bringing him home for. sheâs bringing him home simply because it would be unfortunate if a drunk cop found himself in a bad situation. and she doesnât need anyone asking if she was in the bar that night.
âyou got a name?â one more block to go. âor should i just call you officer? donât worry, iâm not gonna tell anyone.â
itâs a lot more effort than heâd like to admit, walking upright. heâs already prepared to collapse and call it a night, wake up in the morning feeling a lot like shit, but a lot more alive than he has been feeling in a while if heâs lucky. the hangovers probably do him as much apparent good as the drinking in terms of his coping.
which isnât healthy, but itâs coping, so thereâs that.
russellâs distantly aware of her having done some serious drinking, too. doesnât look like it, as composed as she looks, but maybe her tolerance is better than his. maybe sheâs got him beat in how many times sheâs been at the bar drinking her troubles away. he really, really canât manage much brain capacity to consider it for much more than a moment, and then itâs back to shitâs spinning, i need to sit down.
â russell. â lieutenant, he wants to correct, but shit---- the less she knows about him, the better. he drags a hand over his face in some halfhearted attempt to rub the drunk off, like he can sober himself that up that way.
he might actually fall over before they make it, and if it werenât for appearances, he might be willing to sleep on the sidewalk. as it is, a new york city police lieutenant passed out on the pavement isnât a good look. itâs bad enough heâs out drinking his troubles away, for godâs sake. he needs to get himself together.
     â you? â
"You're trying to get yourself killed! Ever since it happened, you've been trying!"
profound sentence meme.
Not actively. Never actively. Heâs just careless. Has been for years, decades. Heâs not sure if itâs his blessing that he hasnât died thus far or if itâs his damnation, because it feels like the latter. Figures that getting wrapped up in this hunting deal is just all the more opportunity to potentially end up broken, torn to shreds, maybe devoured. Opportunity heâs waltzing right into without second thought because there is good being done, there are lives being saved, and paying the price with his own doesnât seem too bad.
â Donât try to get myself killed. â A shrug. A wordless shit happens, essentially, before he realizes thatâs probably not a good answer. But heâs veering away from the root of the problem, wants to leave that where it is.
â Fuckâs it matter for, anyway? If one man ends up dead. Know how many lives I can save? â
"I'm not fragile. I'm not going to break if you talk to me about it. I'll listen and I'll care. That's it. I promise." // from charlie ;^)
profound sentence meme.
thatâs a nice, easy thought. sheâll listen, heâs sure, but there might be a certain point in the story where she just stops, realizes the shit heâs done, the scale of it, the blood on his hands. talk about it, heâs been told over and over, hundreds and thousands and maybe millions of times at this point. it drives him crazy how often heâs told to open up. only people he can really speak about it with are soldiers that were there, soldiers that pulled their triggers with him.
the ones that are still alive. the ones that wonât slip into a fucking panic attack when he brings it up. he never does.
whatâs it going to be? monster? child killer. some other shit the iraqis yelled at him and the other soldiers. itâs all in his head, echoing, and so are that little girlâs screams.
â warâs ugly. â itâs all he says. itâs all heâs willing to say. â think youâre gonna come back feeling like you have purpose. most of the time you donât come back at all. â
