UX Kick Off Meeting
Earlier today I sat down and thought what are some good UX Kick Off meeting questions that should be asked every time you first meet with a team. I work in interaction design with desktop applications, so the questions are catered to that. I am open to if anyone has some other ideas on other great questions. (Keep in my these are very basic, and the more questions asked the better. So while this list isn't small, you should always ask more questions).
Who they (whoever you are meeting with) are?
what are their roles
who do they report to
who is driving this project
Who are the different users
what is their goal
what is their job
how do they benefit from using this
what are their pain points (what are they struggling with)
How savy are they with this application
has any research been conducted
what is the business need of this project
is there any documentation that can provided for this
is there an existing tool
is there any other tool they can use to accomplish this goal
how does the rest of the solution work
how do they get here
what does the user do before this page
ask for scenarios with how the user would arrive on this page
do they (solution designers) know where this lives within the framework
where do they go afterwards in the application
what is the ideal look and fantasies of how this will work
what is your vision on how this will work
what is the 'happy trail' in accomplishing these goals
in a perfect world how would this function
how can we make it successful
what is the time line for this project
when will code start
when is code cut off / delivery
what are the expectations with meetings
weekly/bi-weekly/etc
what is the scope of this project
what is the platform
provide a 'to-do' list for solution designers
before leaving the meeting establish an understanding of what you will be working on until the next meeting
