Away from the courthouse, the wrangling courts & stubborn law ⚖️ I live & work at 'Fat Lawyer Farm' a funky little fat & fine farm with fattitude in the fantabulous Barossa Valley wine country 🍷 🍾🍇 in South Australia, the mother of ALL wine country, the dirt mother in fact & where I think I'm going a bit soft in the head ruminating with marsupials, magpies, crows in the vineyard & numerous other creatures great & small … And if I'm not busy with 'FL Farm' I'm focusing on 'La Petite Maison des Avocats' our little old village house, a tiny town-home in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in France & which, most assuredly & most sincerely, is not a grande maison, not a chateau & definitely not the 'Escape to le Chateau' 🤣😂 …And don't take all of it, all of the time, too seriously👍 Various posts are re-posts from my Instagram & Blog.

Yes, I maybe far away in Australia 🇦🇺 but I am so, so very angry, hurt, sad & disturbed 😥 by Mr. Floyd's unnecessary death at the hands of the police & while in police custody. RIP George Floyd. C'mon America 🇺🇸 there MUST be justice, there must be police accountability! .

🇫🇷 French parliament adopts controversial online hate speech bill

French lawmakers on Wednesday approved a controversial bill to ban hate speech on social media, a measure dismissed as censorship by detractors. The law obliges platforms & search engines to remove offensive content – incitement to hate or violence and racist or religious bigotry – within 24 hours or risk a fine of up to $1.35 million (1.25 million euros). . Critics say the proposal will make Google, Amazon, Facebook & Apple the custodians of freedom of expression. . . An extension of Macron’s vow to battle racism and anti-Semitism propagated via the internet, the bill was first submitted to parliament over a year ago.  .

The draft has drawn criticism from watchdog bodies in France that have expressed concerns over potential violations of the right to freely express oneself on the world wide web. .

Autumn is definitely here ... these are the climbing glory vines - that wrap around the veranda of the house - changing colour in all their cascading beauty. 

They are the non fruiting decorative vine that creeps & hangs. Yes, their leaves will drop as they gradually enter their dormancy period. 

April is the second month of autumn here in the deep south, the southern hemisphere, where June, July & August are winter months 🌏 .

I’ll be driving 🚸🚗 in France 🇫🇷 in June (we arrive about 1 June to stay for 3 months). I’m ok with either side having lived in the 🇺🇸 USA for 17 years. Though been a while, now, since I’ve driven on the right so will have to adjust quickly. . 

How is it driving in France on the different roads? Any tips? Ive heard all sorts of things about Fench drivers/driving 😁 Yes, been given all sorts of advice, ‘how to’, warnings, recommendations, what to do/not to do. . To be honest, it seems Aussie drivers are no different to their fellow drivers in 🇫🇷 France & 🇺🇸 USA 🙂  

I realise, like in Australia, there will be various types of highway/roadways depending on location, urban, built up, rural, village, expressways, interstates etc As well the road rules including international road rules. 

We have had some v serious road accidents, some resulting in death, here in Sth Australia in the Barossa Valley, due to foreign drivers forgetting &/or getting confused about which side to drive on. It can happen. Memory lapses. . . 

Barossa Valley wine country is Australia’s premium 🍇🍇grape growing & 🍷🍷 wine-producing region & one of the nation’s top tourist destinations 🌝🌏🛫 . It attracts tourists worldwide, international backpackers, students & casual workers many from countries where driving is on the right side.

Muriel McQueen Fergusson (1899-1997) was a judge, politician and activist  from Canada. She was the first woman to act as Speaker of the Senate in the country, a position which she held from 1972 to 1974.

After she studied law and being admitted to the bar, she became the first female judge in the province of New Brunswick. She was a strong advocate for women’s and children’s rights, fighting for causes such as pay equity and increased opportunities.
