Dan was never really a fan of churches. Sure, he’s been in loads, plenty of family outings from when he was little, school trips in secondary school for religious studies, and some primary school hymn sessions, made sure of that. But to him they always seemed…too quiet? Yes, too quiet for Dan, he needed a distraction: a busy mind. The silence made it impossible to distract your mind from its own thoughts, so that you were forced to look at what was actually floating around in there…and Dan wasn’t a big fan of that either. Why?

His thoughts normally consisted of dark existentialism, a fuckload of regrets, and old repressed memories, which he didn’t really want to revisit…especially as he is supposed to be paying attention to the vicar.

Summary (kind of spoilers?): Dan is the BAMFy popular boy, Phil is the quiet nerd. Dan secretly really likes him, so he always teases him and calls him names. One day Phil is fed up, so when Dan calls him a stalker he replies and gets really close to Dan and says “Would you call this stalking?” to make him uncomfortable.  Prompt from Phanfic Word Count: 1552 Warnings: Cussing —- Dan knew he was fucked the very first time he saw him. Black hair, the colour of a raven’s wing, was always soft-looking and covered pretty blue eyes that reminded Dan of the sky on a sunny day. His lips, which were pink and soft, were in a sort of permanent smirk against pale skin that stood out on the rare days that he wore thick black glasses that slid down his nose while he lost himself in various books. And it was the first time that Dan felt his heart race at the sight of another boy, but this stranger was an angel and Dan would die every day if it meant he could see him.

His world completely changes when there’s a lock down at their school, however… and they get stuck in the bathroom together for four hours.

dan and phil are tired teenage art students who nap together a lot

Dan doesn’t think it should be legal to wake up before nine am.

He yawns, throwing his bag up to his bed on the top bunk, leaning against the metal ladder, and fighting the urge to throw himself up there along with his luggage. They have to be out of the hotel by six pm, something about visiting a seaside museum, bring your sketchbooks, don’t be late, blah blah blah – Dan had stopped listening after the first two minutes.

He hasn’t slept in what has to be over thirty-six hours; he’d lost last night’s sleep to cramming in some last-minute packing at four in the morning after having forgotten about it all night, and by the time he’d finished, it had been time to leave for the trip. He hadn’t been able to sleep on the coach – in his opinion; noisy, clumsy, uncomfortable and dirty vehicles aren’t exactly the best napping environments; especially considering he’d often be described as one of those annoying ‘fussy sleepers’ who literally cannot get to sleep unless they’re in absolute pitch darkness and silence. Which, considering he’s sharing a room with five others for a week, is probably going to cost him another couple of nights’ sleep, so he’ll be sure to look forward to that.

He doesn’t quite know why he’s even going on this stupid art trip. He’d only used it as an excuse to skip school for a week, but now he isn’t too sure where he’d rather be.

He yawns again, squeezing his eyes shut and scratching his head. Fuck, he doesn’t want to go out tonight. He doesn’t think he can manage it; he’ll get half an hour into the museum before passing out on the floor.

The en-suite bathroom door shuts, and his black-haired classmate emerges, drying his damp face with a flannel. If Dan didn’t know any better, he’d assume Phil is just as tired as he is and had just splashed cold water on his face in an attempt at staying awake.

That doesn’t seem like a bad idea, actually. Maybe he should try it.

“You alright?” Dan raises his eyebrows, eyeing the boy up and down.

For someone who still hasn’t a clue what the ‘offside’ rule is, Phil doesn’t really know what he’s doing here. He equally doesn’t know what his football-enthusiastic parents thought they were achieving by dragging him here instead of simply just leaving him at home, where the only time he’d be willing to play sport is if it was on his television screen and he was holding an xbox controller.

Although at least he’s only watching it, as opposed to playing it. Gazing out thoughtfully to the doll-size figures running relentlessly across the muddy pitch in time with the chants and verbal abuse coming from the more serious fans, he honestly can’t see how they’re deriving any enjoyment out of doing this for a living. Are they enjoying falling over? Do they get a kick out of being trampled on; stuck at the bottom of a sweaty human bundle every time someone happens to kick the ball in the somewhat correct direction into the net?
