like father, like son - dad was also a petty outlaw & was jailed when arthur was only 11. witnessed his death, donned his hat.
when arthur was 14, he was scooped up by dutch and hosea / joined the van der linde gang. he viewed both as father figures so it kinda fucked him up to lose hosea & then be betrayed by an insanely paranoid dutch.
a young arthur almost got hitched to mary, but her family heavily disapproved of him & his outlaw lifestyle so .... that didnโt happen. he then went on to fool around with several women, one of which a young waitress who he knocked up. they had a son named isaac.ย
bc of his life, he couldnโt settle down, but arthur offered as much support as he could, considering. he would visit them every few months and stay for a few days. the last time he went to visit, there were two crosses outside the house; theyโd been killed by robbers. this incident hardened arthur ever since & he never truly coped with the pain.
he was the Scary Muscle of the gang, used as a means of intimidation / brute strength persuasion wherever needed. he caught tuberculosis from a sickly preacher when sent out to collect a loan, which ultimately had a Big Part in his death.
basically heโs a rootin tootin outlaw cowboy, fiercely loves his gang of diverse pals, broods like no other, confused over how heโs alive??ย & how heย โwoke upโ in what seems to be the future ( even tho heโs pretty sure he died ) but heโs doing his best / trying to adapt.
