Jason’s eyes couldn’t help but run over the girl’s body quickly. he hoped quick enough not for her to notice or think of him as a creep, because that’s not who he was. “I was born ready.” He nodded his head, a smile on his lips as he took her hand and started making his way towards the water. 

Laurel blushed when she felt his eyes run over her body, clamming up a bit. She finished her drink and nodded, following him to the water. “Oh my god!” she exclaimed. “It’s so cold!”

Jason smiled back as he grabbed her hand to help support him as he got up. the moment he was standing on his own two feet he took his shirt off, throwing it to the side. “You sure you’re ready?”

Laurel smiled a little when he stood, looking up at Jason through thick eyelashes. “Yeah,” she said softly. She looked around, a little nervous, but she took off her dress, clad in a bikini. “Are you ready?”

ignoring intoxication didn’t seem to work, especially for the group of football players tossing around that ball in the sand. it was entertaining - for sure - but jeremy who refused to taking losing as an option perhaps played too hard ( & that competitive drive growing as the alcohol in his bloodstream did too ). a bad toss & the quarterback began galloping backwards towards the crowds to ensure he caught that ball. and he did. but those drunken cheers were cut short as he realized the person he bumped into - another teammate - had spilled his entire red solo cup onto the head of a girl sitting near the fire. the teammate, gone stumbling with the ball before taking consequence, left jeremy to handle the situation by himself. wide eyes & an open mouth, he moved to face her and looked down to speak with slurred sincerity, “dude, i am so sorry.” he didn’t recognize her at all & he thought he knew everyone at crestmoore at this point; perhaps she’s… new? “honestly, you could just start a wet t-shirt contest & everyone’d be into it,” he attempted to jest with a small grin appearing across his lips. “or i can get you a drink?” alcohol always make embarrassing moments better, after all. + @lcxrdova

Laurel was minding her own business, talking to a few girls in her physics class, when she felt cold liquid pouring down her head and the back of her neck. She stood quickly, touching her head before turning at the sound of guys voices. Laughing too. She turned bright red when Jeremy approached her. If she had been sober, she would’ve let it slide. But she wasn't. “You think a drink is going to fix the fact that I have alcohol and soda in my hair?” she asked, tilting her head and sighing. She shook her head. “Sorry,” she said quickly, realizing she was being rude. “It’s not your fault anyway, you don’t have to be nice to me.”

nichole pressed her lips together as she took the cup in her hand; swirling the liquid around the cup as she looked at the drink. her annoyance was growing from being told she had to drink and she wanted it to stop; to just give in. and so she did. with the littlest sip. “what is in this shit?” she cringed, pushing the drink back to laurel.

“Not sure,” she said softly, shrugging. “Vodka and some mixer. One of the guys on the baseball team made it for me-- don’t worry. I watched him make it the whole time. No drugs or anything in it.”

“okay.” nic said finally, letting the subject go, noticing the hint of irritation in her voice. the protective side of nic had a tendency to pop, even if she never meant for it to, but wouldn’t push it any further for now. “you should have fun for the both of us and i’ll just sit here next the fire.” she said with a shake of her head. 

“Come on, have one sip,” she handed the cup to her friend, a small smile appearing on her face.

Jason recognized the girl, a smile as he nodded. “Yeah, Laurel, right?” He asked, squinting his eyes to help see over the glare of the fire. “Would you like to go skinny dipping with me. Who knows maybe we’ll start a trend and then the entire school with join in.” He hummed softly, settling back into the sand. 

“Uh, yeah,” she had no idea he knew who she was, let alone her name. A small blush appeared on Laurel’s cheeks as she nodded, agreeing. “Okay, sure. Let’s go skinny dipping,” she smiled a little, standing and offering him a hand.

a light huff and a roll of her eyes is all she gave laurel. nic could never understand why people wanted her to lighten up. she was fine the way she was - or at least that’s what she told herself - so why couldn’t other people be fine with it. “the famous last words of all those who have blacked out before you.”

“I’m fine, Nichole,” Laurel said. She liked Nic, no doubt about it, but if she wanted to be mom-ed all night, she would’ve just stayed home. “Seriously, you need to have some fun. Have a drink.”

jason had just finished a chug contest, stumbling ever so slightly as he made his way over to the bonfire. he let himself fall to the ground, laying on his back with his elbows holding himself up. he hadn’t gone this far all summer, but it was his favorite thing. instead of spreading things out all summer he just got really smashed one night and he was good. he noticed someone sitting near him, making him look up and smile at them. “hey, wanna go skinny dipping with me?”

Laurel sat by the fire, enjoying the heat it radiated as she tried to center herself. She drank a bit more than intended, honestly more than she probably had ever, and didn’t want to get sick. Or do something dumb. That was thrown off them some guy--Jason, she recognized him--asked her to go skinny dipping. Normally, she’d say no. But tonight? She was curious. “Are you talking to me?” she asked, eyebrows raised.

“wonderful. just another reason to hate this stupid party.” she muttered, running her hands through the sand and playing with it. “be careful with how many of those you have.” she said, nodding towards her cup. “don’t need you somehow passing out on the beach or in the water.”

“Come on Nic, lighten up,” Laurel said, shaking her head as she finished her drink. “I can hold my liquor, thank you very much.”

nichole had tensed after hearing someone sit down next to her but once she saw it was laurel, she relaxed. nic had taken a liking to the girl after having some classes with her; she was quiet and nice, unlike some of those at crestmoore. “yeah, it is a bit pointless, isn’t it? seems like a big waste if you ask me.” she said, with a shrug. “plus, what happens with all the trash that is thrown into it?” 

“It burns, and goes into the air, and pollutes it,” Laurel nodded, a small giggle escaping her tipsy lips. She took another sip of her drink, shrugging. “Oh well, the Earth is already dying.”

nichole watched as the others downed drink after drink, a look of displeasure on her face. she would rather be anywhere other than here but her aunt wouldn’t stop talking about how it was tradition and it would be good for her to get out. rolling her eyes, she walked over to the blazing bonfire, the warmth of the flames somewhat comforting. feeling a pair of eyes on her, she turned towards them, raising an eyebrow. “can i help you with something?”

Laurel was a bit lost, floating between people and chatting with a few that she knew, others that she didn’t. She was normally pretty shy, but after a drink or two she was a bit more chatty. She spotted Nichole sitting by the fire and headed over, plopping down next to her. “I feel like a bon fire in summer is counter productive,” she observed. “Like, it’s already hot.”
