The Heritage property that is now the Turbine Ranch is a winter wonderland... This is where we design and produce the collections sold at our 5 LDM stores and now on The Shopping Channel. People often ask why we chose to make the base for our national fashion brand in rural Nova Scotia. Honestly -- I can't imagine a better, healthier, more inspiring place for me to work, live, love, and play. Night, it falls, and the mind races. Pondering a projected outcome Wishing to undo an imperfect choice. Hoping for penance in a blessed side-project… Perhaps offering a small bit of help and love To someone lacking hope, experience or voice. Night, it falls, and the mind plays games. Arguments in solitude… Every small detail becomes monstrous. The concept, in daylight, perfect! But, so many miniscule points to consider… (And the construct, ill-timed?) Night, it falls, and the mind remembers Storms, near and far, Forgotten in the daylight hours, Somehow, deemed irrelevant by the sunshine. In darkness, the monsters crawl from under the bed… The detail and distraction of rote No longer life savers in the harshest oceans of time. Morning smiles upon the landscape. The mind begins to calm. There is a momentary conversion of painful agitation, peaceful serenity, exhaustion, and clarity. Acknowledgement of the gifts of the day, just passed. The mind, in need of resolution and survival, Sorts through the confusion, Finds balance and perspective, Begins to heal, Is inspired. And the new day brings a new gift. ~~~~ Soliloquy of an Insomniac (AKA --- The Plight of a Creative Entrepreneur) Lisa Drader-Murphy, August 9, 2016 (2:59am)
My Mobile Boutique has made the round trip from Halifax to Toronto twice since April as we built and stocked our fifth store on Queen Street West. It is now parked in the orchard beside the studio at the Turbine Ranch, waiting to be refilled with hundreds of new styles and accessories for our Cavendish, PEI boutique. After that store is set up for the season and greeting tourists from across the globe, we will head back to Toronto and beyond, hosting shoppers along the way! Welcome to Prince Edward Island
This summer Turbine by Lisa Drader-Murphy has expanded to the beautiful Prince Edward Island. The new store location is in Cavendish, in the newly renovated Avonlea Village. It’s a relaxing spot to spend the day shopping, eating some trademark island food, riding ponies, and catching some live music.
Turbine has opened up shop in the historic manse in the village. This property was built in 1906 in New London, PEI and moved to the village in the early 1990’s. The house has lots of charm, original mouldings and many past lives; Turbine is happy to be another chapter in its historic life.
Summer on the island so far has been a wonderful one for Turbine. We had a successful grand opening for our new and loyal customers who came to shop with Lisa, enjoy special exclusive giveaways, and snack on some delicious Cow’s chocolate covered potato chips. We will be planning another in-store event so stay tuned for further details on this and other upcoming events!
For updates and more information about Turbine check us out on www.turbine.ca, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Trend Alert: Cow-Hide & Seek
Think a classic LBD (little black dress). Like the LBD, Cowhide can complement the bedroom, boardroom, or like at Turbine, our very own Boutique "living room". You can even throw it over a couch!
PHOTO: Cowhide ($628) over sofa in Lisa's Annapolis Valley home.
From Vogue magazine, to Architectural Digest, Cowhide has recently seen a surge in fashion, from belts and vests; cowhides are quickly becoming one of the most talked about trends this season. Depending on their color, each cowhide reflects a different environment. Whether it’s old worldly and quaint, trendy and hip; whether you’re shy, or bold; or whether you’re more handbag than home décor, Cowhide is the designer’s choice.
PHOTO: Cowhide Sam-Satchel $148
Turbine is introducing its latest collection of Handbags, including our classic Sam Satchel made from Genuine Cowhide, as well as Lisa’s newest design: Cowhide Shoulder Bag.

A cowhide rug is probably one of hottest trends in homes today, being sold at some of the most luxurious stores around the world. Cowhides add warmth, texture, luxury, and sense of play and fun to a room and you might even say eco-friendly to the max! We are proud to be carrying a select few in our Turbine boutique at Bishop’s Landing and as with all of our genuine leather products, our cowhide rugs are by-products of the food industry, and therefore contributing to sustainability, with style!
See you soon at the boutique!
mooooo! (I just did that! haha.)

Turbine India Project at The Halifax Club
Hello dear friends,
Wow, It's hard to believe it is already the end of August! What a summer it has been for Turbine!
On July 26th we held an intimate fundraiser for the Turbine India Project at the Halifax Club, sponsored by LifeQuest Financial, True North DJ Services, and Dr. Sura Hadad Family Dentistry. It was a fabulous evening full of love as well as a teaser fashion show of some of the pieces from our latest collection inspired by Lisa's recent trip to India. As a result of Lisa's travels to India, the Turbine team has been busy organizing a fund for young women to attend college in Hyderabad, India. For as little as $140 we are able to provide room, board, and tuition for a student for an entire year! The fundraiser was an absolute success!
The Halifax Club served us delightful Indian inspired hors d'oeuvres, a belly dancer, and we toasted to the success of Turbine's helping women abroad.
It's of no surprise that Lisa created this fund, a branch of the Turbine Fund, with the mandate to support women through education, support and example. It is very rewarding for all involved in the project to see that so little can make such a difference. Considering the rapid growth and industrialization of India, many are often left behind and it is a phenomenal opportunity to be able to help these bright young women achieve educational success. Their education will then in turn support their families and communities, it is a cycle.
I'm sharing a few fun images of the generous and gracious friends that shared this evening with us! Thank you to all who attended.
We are busy preparing for our annual Fall Showcase! I am looking forward to sharing the details for the event very soon...
With gratitude, Namaste.
