Last night I went to meet with friends. reconnecting to a long silence.

I didn't realize how long it had been. Seeing them was as pleasant as a cold day in front of a warm fireplace holding a warm spiked drink.

I went to a fundraiser afterwards and I was terrified and listening to strong women.

Heading to the gym for late work out. Working on back. Days have blurred I no longer know the meaning of things such as Mondays, Tuesdays,...etc. They are just day. It's a new experience to not even measure my time by other ppls schedules or agendas. new level of awareness.

Job Application and Staying Focus

Hi, Today I applied to that position. I wanted to leap with joy and announce it to the world, but I finally understand that everything is not that exciting to the outside world. Lessons from the past include that others may invite jealousy and sabotage. I am proud that I am developing stronger professional narratives.

Yay me.

Mentorship

Today I ALMOST reached out to Rebecca S. I was feeling sorry for myself and I had the urge to whine. I was about to tell her I did not know what career path to take. I was going to tell her that I was feeling lost. I was about to tell her that I could not figure it out. Then i stopped and took a breathe. I spoke to Don for a minute and he made the mood lighter.

I stopped when I admitted that I was feeling bad for myself. I did not send the email.

Instead a response from a recruiter came in.

I forgot that I reached out to a recruiter with a firm about a direct posting. She got back to tell me the position was still in the planning stage and to send her my resume.

Thank you God.

Career Lesson from Today

When contacting a recruiter about a job posting on Linkedin. Have the following prepared.

Short Resume. Request that they allow you to resubmit when the posting/decision about the job has been made.

Let them know you are really interested in working for their company and with your unique background you are a great fit and bring with you a large network of subject matter professionals, experts in educational technology, online learning, and young professionals in the Engineering and technology field.

Story of the Man I met on the Ferry

Yesterday I met this man on the ferry to Wall St. I started up the conversation because he looked distressed about purchasing a ticket before the boat docked. I assured him that he could purchase onboard and informed him that his hat dropped.

We became instant bestie.

We talked about life and the ebb and flow of the Brooklyn industrial area. He enjoyed his life. It was simple and he did not have a luxurious lifestyle but seemed content. He was a former city employee. Living off of a pension. He told me of how he moved up quickly and taught me that life is a game of luck and passive work. Keep hope. He also taught me that older men are aggressive.

Touched based with WIPL scholar Kristen and developed an idea of how she got started in the creation of a non profit.
