hello hello hi!! do you use any filters for your art? i love the vintage feeling i get from it :DD
if not, just how does one get such gorgeous colours 😔
Hi howdy hello, Anon! It makes me happy that you get that feeling from my art heheheh. As for your question, I do use filters for final adjustments or touch ups.
I will be answering the colour question as well
For the filters, when i’m done drawing for the piece, I would use at least 1-2 overlays for when i’m looking for a certain tone. I favour Luminosity a lot for how it soften or darken the artwork (depending on the brightness) but I do other various overlays to get the atmosphere I need.
Occasionally, I would have a clipping mask for both the focal point and the background and have the main overlay above for contrast.
Then after that, I copied the entire canvas and paste it, so that I could freely adjust and mess around with the image as much as I can, you can also do this to alter the colours with the tone curve before finishing up. I mainly use sharpness, chromatic aberration and noise.
As for how I get my colours, the app i’m using (Procreate) lets you drag and drop an image onto the palette tab for it to generate a compact palette based on the colours in the image and would nitpick multiple colours from each of those compacts. Even then, I still use an overlay or colour adjustment during the sketch process and eye drop them for the rendering process.
It’s also a good reference point for making a certain colour for something that the compact didn’t provide one and a sort practice to get you thinking if the colour you altered fits in with the scheme.
Btw i’m sorry this took a while to respond, I’ve been preoccupied with prepping Artfight and planning stuff.
Hope this answers your question :)
