Trying to get into the habit of keeping a digital art diary / sketchbook, even if I'm just doing studies or tracing stuff. Also been practising with the smart shape tool on clip studio and the fill bucket. Which has been fun.

Doodle from work. Random bear skull 3d model
time for another game of 'how many proof of concepts can someone do before they start their actual thing?' is it pretty clear that i'm a newb at watercolor? sure, but its not as though i've got a ton of experience with anything else.
if i call this a 'test' will that make it easier to settle on lol? feeling like learning how, starting from zero, to paint in water colours and gouache to the same standard as the anime backgrounds and do that for every panel in a webcomic is.... probably unrealistic? But then i tried a paper stump pencil smudger at life drawing and really like it. going to take more iterations to figure out exactly the process. this one is pencils and inks, scanned, then i used mostly the rough wash, water colour with the outline, and textured blender in clip studio. (this is for my forgetful future self)
Yuramon cannot see where its going
A piece i did for @campdigimonth's screenshot redraw. i love how much of a MVP joe and zudomon are at the end of season 1. despite only being an ultimate, the only mega-level antagonist they don't go up against in the dark masters arc is machinedramon. He directly participates in every other battle, often 2-v-1ing or 1-v-1ing enemies way outside his weight class.
Really happy with this! Considering how much of a complete beginner I am regarding painting, it turned out really good, I think.
also, a think I've never noticed before: zudomon briefly swaps the claws for another hand during the puppetmon fight
Still experimenting with replicating the digimon adventure style. I was very impressed with how this one turned out, so I drew a betamon. i've never realized that it had little eye-triangles before
Been trying to work out how to replicate the style of digimon adventure for a comic. I liked how this particular experiment turned out so turned it into a little proof of concept. For comparison, below is a random shot from the anime that i enjoy
i needed something easy after struggling with greymon. also i forgot that i owned screen tone pages until after i finished.
oh my god greymon was soooo hard to learn to draw.
I now consider monochromon the perfect huckmon evo and I will accept no arguments
i bought some screentone sheets and absolutely cannot wait to try them.
had an idea, bought a sketchbook. look, you can see me gain confidence in real time.
Oops I noticed something and now I have an idea
Art for an in-universe kiwimon card for my comic. ATM I'm leaning towards disregarding the TCG formatting in favour of adventure-style digimon analyser text describing their attacks. background was done with alcohol inks. thinking I might switch to water colours tho. I don't think this matches the adventure style enough. Template by @digi-lov (notice me senpai)
Comic Progress July 5 to August 2
Officially started inking and colouring my comic! Really enjoying it. For the first appearance of the first partner digimon, I decided to redraw it, and I'm pretty happy I did. Left: 10 May. Right, 2 August. Practice paying off :) Especially because during this month I passed my one year anniversary of learning to draw. looking back at my diary i've tracked 32 hours of drawing, bit over 1 hour a day. but in reality it was more like zero drawing some days, and other days multiple hours. one day I did 3 hours of life drawing than four hours of comic work lol.
I've done two pages, and started on a third. A lot to go, but I'm having fun. Busy time at work is comic up. so no idea how next few weeks will go. ah well.
Writing Playlist
I don't remember how, but this song appeared as if by magic in my writing playlist. I have definitely not seen this movie, lol. I've also been enjoing the Bee and Puppycat soundtrack.
reblogging to here cause i'm pretty happy with the redraw
made a little ghost fakemon. its name is Fashade. It really likes human candy so goes door to door, asking for treats. But because its not native to the region, not everyone knows what it wants, so they turn it away. This makes Fashade grumpy, and it responds by using Egg Bomb on the house. It's abilities are colour change and protean.
