Jane Hirshfield, from a poem titled "Today, When I Could Do Nothing," featured in The Asking: New and Selected Poems
Do you know how many traumas it took to be this funny?
maybe in another lifetime you are not the one i keep looking for in every person i ever love.
I hope some part of you feels the way I reach for you in the dark
I need a "i can hear your heartbeat " type of hug
i'm so attracted to emotional intelligence like damn the way you actually listen and communicate turns me on
This really is the absolute sexiest thing.
“I missed you so quietly that nobody noticed. I missed you without tears or noise, but oh how I felt it. I felt it as I waited, as I worked, as I looked at everyone. I felt it at home, on the road, in the light, in the dark, in everything in fact. I felt it a little too much. Yes, I missed you so quietly today, but I felt it so loudly.”
„It’s a different kind of grief when the person you miss is still alive. When they are just a phone call away. When you can still text them in the morning and before you go to sleep at night. When you can drive to your favorite coffee shop and meet at the park bench for lunch. Isn’t it torture? This choice to keep missing them and holding on to hope that maybe they miss you, too.“
change does not come from a place of comfort
Someone being patient with you on your bad days is one of the softest forms of love.
can you feel me missing you?
don’t accept the bare minimum
don’t accept disrespect
don’t accept inconsistency
don’t accept less than u deserve
I miss us, the way we used to laugh, not the way we said goodbye.
