What I have been up to?

How to find roots of f(x)=0

             --> f(x)=Ax - b, if A is an invertible matrix (x=inv(A)*b):

                        --> Gauss elimination

                        --> Iterative methods : -> Jacobi (S is a diagonal matrix of A)

                                                               -> Gauss-Seidel (S is a triangular matrix of A)

             --> if non-linear equation(s):

                        --> Newton's method

                        --> Higher dimension Newton's method (know how to compute the Jacobian and how to write Matlab iteration!)

If function is not given, you are not screwed. You just have to get some values of f(x)!

           --> Estimation:  -> Least-square method (curve fitting) (remember the    pseudo-inverse!!!)

Just finished with HW3 for 107 and need to seriously study for signals midterm on tuesday. Also, exam 3 on monday for 107 gaaaahhh. Apparently, it's supposed to be a hard one too. I'm dead meat :(

Week 3

Monday: Homework 2 for MAE107 complete and turned in :) Exam went well [ :) ]^2. Finished HW1 for signals!

Tuesday: Bought a Schaum's outlines book for signals and systems. I'm so desperate to understand the materials of this class!!!

Homework nearly done! Yeay. Just came back from the library (I know. Even on a saterday. That's the life of an engineering student, meaning no life). But at least I was very productive and have finished MAE107 homework. The codes run and even made plots to compare different iterative methods (to be described more in details later). As for MAE 143A, I'm half way done. Just need to make plots on Matlab. 

Overall, I am satisfied with myself so far :)

Lecture 3&4

I learned about Laplace and Z transform!

There is a homework due next tuesday (7/17/12): Solve analytically for an impulse and ramp response then plot using Matlab. Got the first part done :)
