And you know… I have this attitude against the system and everything that control us as individuals, but I’m always a little terrified with this reality where everyone knows what I am. What if I can’t get a job? How my mom are going to survive? What if I get to be punished for something I didn’t do, just for being in the wrong place and being “inferior”. Can’t we find other ways for me to be safe?

You’ve got a point. I would never want you to be viewed as anything less than River Thompson, the man I have the privilege of knowing. To think anyone would hold this against you first and foremost just makes me furious, to be honest.

I don’t want people to know I’m a werewolf, Dan. Specially now that halfbloods and muggleborns are dying in mysterious ways. I know the ministry say that it’s for everybodys safety, but it isn’t okay? It’s about tracking and control us. I very much prefeer to be alone than locking myself up in the ministry’s cells with other werewolves and hope for the best every fucking month.

I actually get it, to be fair. I’ve always seen the Ministry as this untouchable and righteous entity, but the things I’ve been seeing in there, River... I can see why you wouldn’t want to put yourself through that.

I just wanted to understand it better. Because it’s dangerous not being registered... I know getting into the registry can make you a target, but being outside of it can also make things difficult if you get discovered. Sacré bleu, I just want you to be safe, is that too much to ask?

Of course you’re not, but legally speaking... I found out the ministry offers help during this time of the month. I mean, I know you do everything you can to be safe, but how does the ministry allow it?

I know they keep a log on all the werewolves and their whereabouts, so they can call them in during the full moons.

Well, I guess maybe we are to blame for you feeling inadequate, at least a little. It’s something we can work on, I’m positive. I think it’s important that we talk about, well, about us, even when something big isn’t happening. It will make things easier for all of us, and then we can all help each other a bit.

Cursing in french, huh? I guess it’s not too early for this. Well, we’re also lucky you took ‘fuck the bourgeoisie’ way too literally, so there’s that. 

I agree, we should talk more about things that bother us. It’s important for us to see eye to eye and be there for each other in the simplest ways. I know sometimes it can be a lot, but I think if we just say what we feel or want out loud, things can get a little... easier. I guess our problem was we weren’t doing much talking.

I don’t have much money, and most of my payments from the cafe are used to help my mom. She’s very sick and no one really knows what is wrong with her. She was the reason why I came back to London first of all. I’m not much, I know. Diana is a fucking ballet goddess, and you are french and fancy. I’m a poor jack of all trades with a furry problem. Now that you know everything, I want to give you the chance to choose to deal with my mess. You’re not obliged.

You don’t have to thank us for anything, River. Understanding and supporting is the bare minimum any of us could do for each other.

Your mother is lucky to have you as a son, I hope you know that by now. And as far as hoping goes, I hope we’ll be able to help you with taking care of things.

It’s been almost three years since the night I was almost killed by one of them. And the only way to survive it’s… Well, it is what it is. When I asked you for money was to buy ingredients for a wolfsbane potion.

I’m not usually one to give out point for effort, but Dan really does deserve it. I didn’t expect such a shift, and you have improved a lot already. We can’t change the past, but maybe the future will look better for us.
