Katsuki ignores the deafening silence of the hotel room and idly surfs through tv channels, trying to find something remotely interesting to watch. His restlessness becomes palpable in the air around him as he continues to shift around on the stiff hotel bed at futile attempts to get comfortable. An episode of MTV Jammin’ — a tv music series that showcases live studio sessions of up and coming singers — pops up on the decently sized flat screen.
The blonde is about to change the channel again when he sees a familiar head of pine green curls, the constellation of freckles he has mapped too many times to count, and those hauntingly deep emerald eyes— Katsuki inhales sharply as the sight fully registers in his mind.
The remote falls from the greenette’s former-manager’s limp grasp and onto his lap the moment Midoriya Izuku starts singing; a breathy note followed by his unique silvery tone only accompanied by the light strumming of his acoustic guitar. The young idol is probably a third of the way through the first verse, but Katsuki’s face remains blank, reflective of his own current state of mind.
The song is a title release from his latest album, one that the blonde hasn’t heard before and his brain quips dryly, ‘Of course not you shit stain, it’s been fucking months since you last saw the dork in that damned recording studio.’ But the fog in his mind suddenly clears as the volume of Izuku’s mellow voice rises, “you would know if you stayed, you would know if you put up a fight.”
