The truth about backgrounds

I think it’s time the world sees the truth about backgrounds (and middlegrounds). On the surface, they look all nice and polished, but you turn the foreground layers off, and this is the mess that lies beneath. I pointed out a handful of mistakes (there are more). Oh, and last time I counted, this drawing has 47 layers.

Finally!

I finished it. Took me long enough, huh? I added the rain effect with some filters on GIMP. I faded out the background a little. Overall, I am pretty happy with it. It is my first fully colored tablet drawing too. ^_^

Keep working at it!  Where I am, some good photographers run workshops and are associated with the local photo club (Cleveland Photographic Society)...some of these are probably more interested in sharing their knowledge than others...  So perhaps you can visit such a club where you are in the UK and find more willing support among professionals there.  The club here is AWESOME and very open-handed and community-conscious, hopefully you'll find something where you are!
