Entei stopped for a moment. He thought his master was back there. Oh well. He happily began panting, pawing at his shoe and expecting pets.
“Entei, god damn it,” Tobias muttered, recalling the beast. “I am so sorry, Entei is… a bit… affectionate…” He trailed off, realizing he was talking to a complete double of himself. “…well. I, uh… hello.”
And now it somehow got even more awkward. Wow. Amazing.
“…Hello. I’d ask your name but… I have a pretty good feeling I know what it is.”
Did he somehow wander into another world or something? He’d read that such things were possible, but…
“…And I’m sure you know mine as well. You have an Entei?”
“…it’s… Tobias. I’m assuming we share a name, and perhaps an identity,” he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. He was hoping it was just a hallucination.
“And, yes. I caught it in my travels through the Johto region. It’s still a bit… unruly. It seems to think it’s a lapdog and constantly wants to play.”
“…I am also Tobias. Tobias Drakos… of Canalave City. And, I see… that’s… interesting. I must admit that I never imagined I would see one of the Legendary Beasts. …And I didn’t expect that Entei would behave like… that.” That was unusual. Still not as unusual as this whole situation, though.
“Nor did I,” Tobias replied, referencing Entei’s behavior. “I expected more of a vicious nature.”
He paused for a moment, wondering if his double also obtained a Darkrai. It couldn’t have been an exact double; their surnames differed. However, it was close enough to unsettle the legend hunter.
“I must ask. Do you own a Darkrai?”
“…I do. I went to… well.” He closed his eyes a moment. “I went to nearby Fullmoon Island. A child in Canalave was put under a nightmare, so I’d done research. With my first partner, Lapras, I went there and ended up gaining the aid of its resident.”
Tobias adjusting his coat slightly. “Then, we went to Newmoon Island. I battled Darkrai and captured him there.”
"Well. That's a tad different than how I obtained mine." He swallowed hard, rubbing the back of his neck.
"He was... actually my first Pokemon. Mine had fed off of my frequent nightmares for a very long time. Depression and hallucinations and all that. Eventually, I proposed a deal to it. It serves me as a partner and it can feed off my nightmares whenever it sees fit."
