Verstael is the Palpatine to Ardyn's Darth Vader. Verstael literally has plans to become God.

Ardyn is the Darth Vader to Iedolas, who represents all leadership in the evil empire.

Evil empire has a mechanized city with robotic defenses and processes or whatever.

Imperial City is dark.

Ardyn isn't the father, but the many times great-uncle.

Even the scene where Ardyn reveals his true name as Noctis is stuck in the Crystal is parallel with the pivotal scene between Vader and Luke Skywalker. Same scene.

Noctis must go through a long time of meditation to master the Force.

Luna and Leia wear the same trademark white, but Leia is the better princess. Square has always made their women characters demure and submissive in ways that Carrie Fisher would never have tolerated.

Ravus is the tortured Anakin with the metal hand/arm. (Also Nuada).

Cor is the moral mentor figure like Obi-wan, except younger and alive. Regis is the dead Obi-wan that only shows up at the very end.

Gladio is Chewie. Ignis is C-3PO. I guess that makes Prompto R2-D2, but R2-D2 seems more useful.

Nyx is Han Solo.

Everyone likes to say Mors was a strict and detached father, and I'm sure he was that way as a king. But I think his decision to assign Cor to Regis's personal guard after his bout of outspokenness was meant to be a subtle lesson for both young men.

For Regis, the lesson was to keep close those who would question his decisions, not those who would shower praise on him.

For Cor, the lesson was to learn to defend someone, even if he might not agree with them.

It was moreso a lesson for Regis.

So many people portray Cor as a doting and empathetic parent.

I disagree.

He is very much a fuck around and find out parent. He has no sympathy for dumbass behavior and would readily call his kid out. He would be critical. If he expressed his feelings or any affection, he'd probably break out in hives.
