A Contract with Singapore
The latest bill passed by the Legislative Assembly has the following implications. Although this is a multi-year project, the current trajectory is as follows:
HDC has allowed for massive deforestation, showing complete disregard for biodiversity and eco-conversation. Animals caught in the deforestation are usually killed, and used as fertiliser for unforested forests. HDC also suggests killed animals could be used as food supply and is awaiting reply from the Legislative Assembly.
50 acres of forested land is not adequate for 40,000 houses but rather HDC has started construction on 144 Bungalows
The program is a massive success as many wealthy individuals bought up the land in addition to a particular organisation known as Malayan Radical Company Pte Ltd. HDC continues to use the funds obtained from this initiative to further furbish the bungalows into luxury bungalows. The bungalows are rumoured to contain gold leaf decoration in the bathrooms.
Most of the buildings are built using second hand steel from scrapyards as they are deemed to be of “reasonable” quality.
The HDC is a strong step to revitalising the economy. it has allowed for massive deforestation as they leased land. However, a significant portion of the land, especially near Jurong was swampy marshlands that would require more investment to ensure that it is safe to construct houses on.
50 acres of forested land not enough to build 40 thousand houses with low cost materials. They decided to go with cheap lead paint which is extremely durable to the weather conditions of the region.
With regards to the train line, our group of engineers have proposed a Singapore Transit & Urban Planning Initiative Document (STUPID) map for our commercial railway network that spans only in the significant residential areas of the South. Given that Singapore cannot afford this service to run on deficit for an extended period of time, our engineers have limited the railway network to the affluent South. Meanwhile, households everywhere else are scratching their heads, wondering why they were excluded.
Road infrastructure projects sees mixed results as in many locations, 4 lanes included bicycle and rickshaw lanes. For unstable locations, the roads resembled an actual highway where heavy vehicles could travel. Certain parts of the roads see a merge between the bicycle lane and the highway roads, through a staircase (5 steps).
