A Helping Hand
[She’s waiting, stone rippling over her body before its just cracking suddenly at what he said.] [for a moment she’s just there, staring at him in silence before she’s letting out a deep sigh, causing all the stone to crumble into dust off her]
You are so much more than a god. Guess it would be foolish to think that for once you would realize that. I was broken once, but not in the way that I am now from your words.Â
I deserve a forest fire, lit by the spark of life and cheerfulness that you always mask yourself with. You are not meant do simply break or win or both. Matthias you are a forest fire…… do you not know what a forest fire leaves in its wake?
[he manages to catch some of the stone dust from falling, letting out a tiny, wet chuckle] I’ll save it in my scrapbook…
… [he sighs] Ash? A forest full of dead trees?
[There’s a faint smile at that comment, feeling some of her anger melt away]Â
Ash…correct. Fruit grow better, and more plentiful near the base of volcanoes. And in ash does new life grow. Stronger than before, healthier than before. It allows the chance for new life to grow. That is what Ragnarok is. It is the death of the old and the start of a new world. Where two are reborn and some return, to create something new. It is not just defeat, and loss. But rejoice and renewal. That is what you are.
Heh. [he flashes a smile, not nearly as bright as any he has flashed her before] Don't ask me to renew anything. I can barely renew my library card in this country... and create something new? Eugh. Don't want kids. I have wolves. [he shakes his head, sighing] I don't think I'll ever understand what you see in me. I'm just the guy that picked the name because he thought it sounded cool...
... But... [he reaches up and lightly touched her hair, his breathing becoming a bit labored as he aggravates his ribs more] You'll swallow the moon when I come out... I guess if I can't stand beside a goddess, I'll follow in the footsteps of one... so I can never lose her.
