Spiritual self care is not only about religion, though it could be, spiritual self care is taking the steps to know who we truly are. This is the real us, not a mask that we put on or a charade we play so that others will be pleased with us, this is who the person behind all that. It’s different from the way that we project “ourselves”, it's deeper than our temporary gratification from soulless validation. If we practice spiritual self care we will tune into ourselves, and it will not only lead to greater inner peace, but it can help us develop and/or strengthen our standards and principles. There are easy steps in which you can start your spiritual self care journey.
Give Yourself Space:
A good way to start is to clear the space around you. You are constantly moving and changing the things around you, it's time to take control of your space. You can’t connect with who you truly are in a cluttered area, take the time and do you right. An empty space will reflect an empty slate, start over and give yourself a little bit of that love you've been giving out. When your space is clean it will be easier for you to focus on other things. Clean your space, burn a candle, make it smell nice, and keep it clean.
Meditate:
Meditation is the easiest way to connect with yourself or something else spiritually. It might take awhile to get started, depending on your life or just your will to do it. When you are able to start and you do it everyday you will feel the peace within you build up and continue with you throughout the entire day. There are many benefits to meditation besides spiritual connection, but the most important one is that it reduces stress. Meditate everyday and watch the benefits unfold before you.
Journaling:
Journals are another way to self reflect and understand a deeper, more meaningful part of you. Writing helps you organize thoughts and actions and when you look back on your past writings it can also give you a bigger perspective on certain situations. Negative thoughts and emotions can cloud your mind and be self destructive writing and reflecting over them will help you realize this and help you overcome them. Remember to do what feels right for you, so if you wanna try a different type of journaling go ahead it's all up to you. Try and keep a journal.
Forgiveness:
Don't ruin your life by holding grudges and keeping things that are toxic to you. If you can’t forgive someone then that is on your head and you will have to deal with that. So much time and energy is wasted every day into holding hate in your heart for others, let go and let yourself grow. Hate will only stunt your growth and stop you from moving on and being happy. Be better than the people you hate and move on.
It is important to live in the moment and to not let a single second pass you by, and you can't be doing that if you are wasting your seconds on someone who doesn't deserve it. Don't complicate your life and make it difficult, keep it simple. If what you're doing doesn't work then try something else, you'll find your perfect plan in no time. This is your journey and as long as you are happy and satisfied then there is no right or wrong way. The most important thing you do is stay true to yourself, don't compromise on you and don't settle, you are worth every second of every day. So don't waste time on people who don't think so.
