Excerpts from my recent 40 minute performance show.
Audio made for an event on May 3rd in Winnipeg called Bring Your Own Headphones (BYOH). BYOH is a performance series where the audience only hears the show via a headphone distribution system.
The whole thing is 26 minutes, and is comprised of a collage of new recorded performances, music and sound.
Thanks to Simon for the great event, and to Theo Sims, whose house I used as a studio while recording some of this stuff.

Talk, For People is a guided text recitation in the dark. Essentially I get a crowd to say nothing, over and over and over. In other words: It is a work-in-progress where an audience of unrehearsed (and perhaps unsuspecting) “choral speakers" are lead through simple texts via a projection. This video is an excerpt of a twenty minute performance that took place in Sackville, NB, where I was artist-in-residence with the Owens Gallery. In the excerpt, the video you see is what the audience would have seen. Audio is live audience. The residency was possible with the generous support of The Manitoba Arts Council, Owens Art Gallery, Struts Gallery and the staff / students of the Mount Allison University art department.
Poster I made for a fine art/craft symposium, of which I am a part. Prominently features the controversial Diamond-encrusted Gumby Skull.
Poster for a performance I'm doing tomorrow here in Sackville, NB.
Okay, so I went to the coffee shop the other day and a friend showed me this, an anonymous review of my recent performance show. Then he asked if I had written it. As funny (and gross) as it would be to write a review of your own show, it wasn't me. But nobody seems to know who did it. And they called it SHMORDER SHMOSSINGS (which, for non Canadians is a play on the name of art mag Border Crossings). Haha, jeeez. Who are you, mystery art-journalist? I can keep a secret. Oh, and a local printmaker said that if the mystery person contacts her she'd Risograph print future issues. Ha! 😶✏️
I have a performance show in about a week. It's essentially a series of short bits plus a two-channel video on the bar TVs. Here are the details:
Le Moat Juice: New Performance Work by Ray Fenwick
One Night Stand is pleased to present a group of short performance works by artist Ray Fenwick, live at The Yellow Dog Tavern. Fenwick will also commandeer the two TVs in the bar to show a new two-channel video made specially for the occasion. Programme will run approximately 25 minutes, and is as follows:
Ⅰ. Trip Report: Eternity Turning into a Room
Ⅱ. Potential Name Changer
Ⅲ. Trip report: Dystopia of Forbidden Knowledge
Ⅳ. Sustainability/Viability of Echo Locations
Ⅴ. Trip Report: Hyperliquid
Ⅵ. Suggestions for a Scene with Great Potential
Ⅶ. Trip Report: Whittling Circus of Form
Ⅷ. 2 th’ Limit
On the televisions: A Painter Endlessly Describes His Masterwork (2 channel unsynced)
