Have you ever met one of those couples who just make sense? Well, Mitsuya and Yabi are exactly that. It’s amazing how it only takes a few words and looks for them to be on the same page. More than lovers, they are friends, so no matter what they have to face together in the future, they have a strong base to hold on to― and, of course, lots of love for each other.
ACTS OF SERVICE. Being two independent workers, both Mitsuya and know how much a cup of tea during an all-nighter can mean. Given you understand the kind of stress his job can give him, you always look for ways to make his life easier. If you’re having a day off or have a little more free time, you run some errands for him and pick up food on the way home, so he doesn’t have to worry about anything else. Of course, when roles are reversed, he does the same for you― even offering to rub your shoulder if you’ve been sitting down for a long time.
♡ There comes a point in every artist’s life when you lack inspiration. When that happens to Mitsuya, he sometimes likes to take a quick visit to your workstation and peek over your shoulder and ask what you are working on. He listens intently, and never lets you talk down about your own work, even if it’s in progress. Usually, getting a look at your work gives him the inspiration he needs to continue working. When it’s the two of you that are stuck with artist’s block, he likes to take you to an art gallery nearby. You walk hand in hand, looking at the different paintings, sometimes in silence, sometimes making comments whenever you see something that catches your eye. On your way home, you buy one coffee and one tea to go, and then head to your respective desks to continue working, now with new ideas in mind.
♡ Mitsuya adores how much you care about his little sisters. He notices how protective you are of them. He knows they both still have a lot to learn about real life and one thing that has always worried him is that, when they start growing up, he may not be the best option to guide them since he’s a guy. However, all of his worries vanished when, a few months after he had moved in with you, he received a call from Luna, asking for you. “She went to the supermarket for a bit. You and Mana okay? You need anything?” he had asked. “It’s okay, I’ll call back. I needed to ask Yabi her opinion on something.” Before he could offer to give his sister some advice, she hung up the phone. When you came back, you found him washing the dishes with the cutest little grin on his face you had ever seen.
♡ Mitsuya has the tendency of getting too inside his head sometimes. He pours himself into his work and forgets to eat, drink or even sleep. On the first couple of days, you make sure to leave him a few bottles of water and food next to his workstation; however, it’s only time before you notice he’s not taking them anymore. Or that it’s been a week since he’s showered. It’s only in those moments when, against your wishes, you tell him in a mildly stern voice that he needs to get up. While he’s adamant about continuing his work, after noticing the worry in your eyes, he lets you drag him to the park that’s just a block away from your apartment. You sit on a bench in silence, and until now, the mix of fresh air and the sight of nature finally lowers Mitsuya’s defences. He takes your hand in his and begins to talk.
♡ Working in the fashion industry, Mitsuya works a lot with models. While they have never come to your house nor does he frequent them (aside from Hakkai), you know it’s part of his job to tailor some of his clothes to fit them properly or to give them some pointers on how to better showcase his designs. One day, Mitsuya forgot his lunch at home and, since you had the day off, you decided to bring it to him. Even if you didn’t say a word about how tall or beautiful the models were, your boyfriend noticed something was off when you left his food on his desk. He asked everyone to take a short break and then turned his head, completely focused on you. Lacing his fingers with yours, he looked up at you from his sitting position and asked what was going on. Seeing him put you as a priority and not care about anything else but you lifted your spirits more than he could ever imagine. In the end, not thoroughly convinced you were okay, he asked you to stay for a bit to get your opinion on one of his latest projects, his hand on the small of your back as he showed you around the room for everyone else to see.
Mitsuya and you are very similar, given both your Sun signs are air signs. You have a similar outlook on life, which makes you very compatible. You’re constantly stimulated on an intellectual level, and both of you feel no one else truly understands you quite like the other. More than a couple, you have a solid foundation based on friendship with common interests and an understanding that helps smooth any problems that may arise.
Your moon signs are also compatible since Mitsuya has an Aquarius moon and your moon is in Sagittarius. Both of you tend to look into the future with the same desire to experiment with new things since it’s relatively easy for either of you to adapt to different situations. Following tradition is not your thing, you’d rather create your own rules as you go on. You also have respect for each other’s individuality― you don’t expect him to become an amalgamation of you, and neither does him.
Overall, you share a lot of common ground and have a complementary view on emotions. If both of you keep listening to one another instead of focusing too much on your own philosophy, you won’t have any problems in your relationship.
♡ Dress and Tie - Charlene Kate ft. Darren Criss
No, I haven’t known you for a lifetime / But somehow I’ve never been more sure that you’re for me / Baby, please, don't / Don’t leave, just come and dance with me tonight
Ever since Mitsuya started dating you, he realised this was the real thing. He’s not sure why― but there’s something in the way you look at him that makes him think you were meant to be together. He’s just happy he found you this early in life so that, when his career finally sets off, you get to enjoy it with him.
♡ Ya'aburnee - Halsey
Love is just a currency / So take my pockets, take me home / Take my life, and take my soul / Wrap me in a wedding ring / You know I swear I'd give you anything
Anyone that sees you two together can tell how much you truly love each other. And it’s not because you’re all over each other― it’s about the subtle details: the way his eyes are focused on only you when you talk or how you look at him whenever he laughs. You’re in love. And it’s going to last for a lifetime.
♡ Beso - Joséan Log
Bésame / Junta tus labios con los míos otra vez / Que quiero amarte y decirte lo que sé / Pero no encuentro las palabras, bésame [Kiss me / Join your lips with mine again / I want to love you and tell you what I know / but I can’t find the words, kiss me]
Although Mitsuya is not one to show his romantic side in front of an audience, he makes sure you know how much you mean to him. He has a playful, teasing side that only you get to see. Afternoons where he’ll pull you for a private dance in the middle of your living room, where he’ll graze his lips against yours only to pull away with a mischievous smile when you attempt to kiss him. He doesn’t keep his kisses from you too long, though, soon enough he’s bringing you close and finally pressing his lips against yours.
“I feel there’s something you’re not telling me.”
The corner of Mitsuya’s lips twitches into a smile, but then raises his eyebrows, amused.
“Why would I hide something from you?” he asks in a playful tone.
“I don’t know,” you say, taking a sip of your tea. “I feel it’s not a bad thing, but still. You’re awfully giddy today.”
“Am I?” he continues, this time failing to hide a grin. He imitated you, taking a sip of his drink. The coffee shop outside the museum is almost empty, with only you and a couple more people hanging around. Not strange for a Sunday morning, you think, but there’s still something odd about how happy Mitsuya has been today.
“Neither my birthday nor our anniversary is coming up, so it’s not like you have a surprise.”
“I don’t believe in only planning surprises on set days,” Mitsuya muses. “But no, I’m not planning a surprise for you.”
You hum, pursing your lips. “Am I gonna find it out eventually?”
“Yeah,” he nods. “You’ll definitely hear about it.”
“Ah― so there is something going on,” you point out and Mitsuya laughs.
“Can’t escape your mind, huh,” he teases, but then reaches out for your hand under the table. You lace your fingers with his over his thigh, your eyes scrutinising him.
“It’s not something bad, is it?” you ask in a soft voice. Mitsuya’s face immediately drops all traces of a smile and shakes his head.
“It’s not, I promise it’s not. It’s good news, I just have to wait until―” His phone beeps and he smiles again. “Until that. Give me a minute,” he says, gently squeezing your hand before letting go.
He takes his phone out of his pocket and unlocks it. He taps on the most recent notification, which takes him to his email app. His eyes glide across the screen quickly and then, he slides the phone across the table so you can read too.
It doesn’t take you much to read the first few lines of the very professional looking email.
“This…” you begin in a whisper, still in shock. “Fashion week? Your collection is going to Fashion week?”
“Not my entire collection, I can submit up to two pieces but―”
Mitsuya’s words were cut by you pulling him into a tight hug. He buried his face in your neck while you held him, relaxing under your warmth and the scent of your perfume. His arms found their way around your body, settling into the hug with ease.
“I’m so proud of you,” you muttered against his hair. You kissed the side of his head repeatedly.
“I was waiting until they confirmed it, didn’t want to speak too soon.”
“Of course they would say yes,” you chuckle, pulling away. You took his hand into your again and looked deeply into his eyes. “Of course they would. You’re great.”
“I love you,” he says, and you give him your best smile.
“I love you too. We should celebrate.”
“How about we share a lemon pie?” he suggests, to which you nod.
While you watch Mitsuya stand up and head to the cashier, you wonder how you ended up being so lucky to share these bright moments with someone as talented as him by your side.
Little do you know, just as your boyfriend is taking out his wallet to pay, he’s thinking exactly the same.
