T minus 2 days until the Autumnal equinox! One of the highlights of fall (IMHO) is the lovely variety of chrysanthemums now popping up at garden centers and grocery stores.
These chrysanthemums in particular are from Keika hyakugiku, aka “Keika’s One Hundred Chrysanthemums” by artist Keika Hasegawa. These are just a few of the beautiful varieties in this three volume set celebrating the de facto national flower of Japan. Find volumes 2 & 3 digitized in our collection of Japanese illustrated books from the Meiji and Edo periods.
