Who and what are they?
The Xailites are an alien species that happened to develop along side the Cakelings. They used to have a symbiotic relationship with cakelings until they decided that they were superior than them and enslaved them.
The reason they felt they were superior to Cakelings was because of their cultural values & mindset. Xailites are very much as "Might Makes Right" kind of species, whereas Cakelings tend to express care and mercy despite their immense strength. Plus, they were jealous that Cakelings tended to "find" better land and resources than they did, and if they wanted any, they'd have to trade (cakelings were just better at taking care of their land).

What happened to the Xailites after the cakeling rebellion?
A lot of them were killed in the revolution. However, the ones remaining (and up to modern day) still have a strong disdain for cakelings.
They almost died out because of them not only because of the revolution but because cakelings were out-producing them when it came to children. So, slowly their land was taken up by cakelings and they began to be outnumbered until they were forced to flee.
They still hold their superiority complex and express heavy xenophobia toward cakelings. Nowdays, they too have a complex empire like the Cakelings, and the two empires compete against each other for technological advancement, territories, trades, etc;

There are different kinds of cakelings, but it depends on what region or planet they're on. This determines the kind of powers they have because they are aliens. The main ones I focus on are 'sun cakelings'.
Tater tot is a special kind of cakeling, which lends to her "divine right" as empress. She's one of the few that can actually become as hot as the sun itself. Her role is being their leader and protector because of this.
They are called cakelings because of how well they can maintain their integrity while still being able to absorb and maintain powers within them. Whatever markings they have that look similar to a cake has not been given a scientific answer. Some theorize that it's actually markings to warn predators to not eat them because cakelings are highly toxic to consume due to their volatile nature. However, it is not because they are actual cakes.
Cakelings can live ~200 years at a time, but sometimes they can die earlier if they use their powers a lot during their lives.
The reason cakelings have such a beef with another species called the xailites is because they enslaved them. Why didn't they use their powers? because they kidnapped the children first before they knew how to use them. They made them believe that they were powerless, and killed their parents. The xailites believed themselves to be superior, smarter, more civilized and stronger than the cakelings. it wasn't until Tater tot's grandfather started a rebellion & led a revolution, thereby starting the Patissere Empire.
The empire is around 400 years old at this point, and Tater tot is its first female ruler.
𝄞────𝄞𝄢────𝄞Main kinds of Cakelings𝄞────𝄞𝄢────𝄞
Tater tot is a 'Sun cakeling'. Sun Cakelings are good heat conductors. They can keep others warm, are heat resistant, and great living weapons of mass destruction lol. They usually take up roles in the military, government, and law enforcement because of their more dominant nature. Their colors range from red to yellow.
Leon is a 'Moon cakeling', and moon cakelings are good at maintaining and reflecting lights & see in the dark. Think of them as living nightlights. This makes them excellent stealth hunters, guards, rescue teams, ect; because of this ability to always see in the dark & allow others to see in the dark. Their colors range from deep blue to deep purple.
Any other colors that are born to these two kinds of cakelings are results of interbreeding between the two types. If you're warmer toned, it's likely you have powers that allign with the sun.
If you're cooler toned, it's likely that you have powers that allign with the moon.

Appearance:
Cakelings have beady black eyes across all types. Sometimes they have little antennas like tater tot does, and other times they do not. Those who do have them tend to hear sounds that most living things can't. It depends on their genetics really. They do not have noses either.

Cakelings are generally smaller in height, but there are rare occassions where they can be grow to be up to 6 feet tall. However, the average height for both male and females hover around 5'3 to 5'5
The reason cakelings can have so many kids at once is because a giant bottle-necking event happened within their species because of the xailites, causing them to panic and go into overdrive. Only the ones who could handle multiple kids were left.
The amount of kids the females produce depends on how safe she feels, which is dictated by her general stress level. Stress hormones can block reproductive ones and make it harder to have children or for fetuses to survive in the womb.
Fun fact: In the empire, materinity leave lasts the entire duration of the pregnancy because of this fact.
Honestly, I don't have much lore to share with this - I just really wanted to draw Hiraeth with sunflowers cause it fits her warm color tones really well + her personality sort of, despite her positivity, it's not always genuine hehe ;D
Also, sorry for the inactivity again - ArtFight had me in a chokehold LOL - I made like 41 artworks, which is more than triple the amount I did last year. I'll make sure to post any AF artworks I made on here next time tho! <3
Vi doesn't have one, she lived half of her life not even awared about the thing call "holiday", and she was too busy with her job/revenge plan to care about anything else. For Eins, he likes them all, but if he really had to choose, he would pick either summer holiday or new year. He likes summer holiday because it's a great occassion for him to enjoy his free time with his children outside (they usually go to the beach for summer break), same thing for new year, he just loves to have some spare time to spend with his kids and wife :3 and like new year new me typa mentality, he's trying his best to be positive about life.
