Nails inspired by Lenore Appelhans’ Level 2.
Easy peasy dotticure this time around. Now I know that the orange I used doesn’t exactly match the book but I don’t have a lot of orange in my collection. I have a LOT of pink and blue but orange? Not so much. And in case you guys haven’t noticed, I love darker shades. Most of the nail art I post involves darker shades.
Also, I can’t believe that I’m still keeping up with 31DC2014. Hoorah!

No review for this on the book blog. Enjoy!
Book two in Lenore Appelhans’ Memory Chronicles series, CHASING BEFORE, is out in just a couple more days! She offered up a few free-floating secrets about her characters, her writing, and the series, and we’re intrigued. Lenore, thank you for being here!

Top Ten Tuesday: Book Real Estate by Author
Which authors take up the most space on my shelves?
Lemony Snicket/Daniel Handler (19, including the entire numbered Series of Unfortunate Events books)
Ann Bonwill (23 books, including foreign editions)
Lauren Oliver (11 books including arcs and an extra hardcover of Before I Fall, as a loaner copy)
Jasper Fforde (8 books, including 7 from the Tuesday Next series)
Kimberly Derting (8 books - everything she has published!)
Megan McCafferty (8 books, and really I should have more)
Libba Bray (9, including short story collections with her work. I have only read the 3 short stories so far though, not the novels)
Suzanne Collins (8, all in The Hunger Games trilogy, including arcs and foreign editions)
AS King (8, including foreign editions)
Tomi Ungerer (8 that I can find right now, but probably more!)
Authors with 5 books on my shelf:
Scott Westerfeld, Lois Duncan, Audrey Vernick, Jon Klassen, Bob Shea, David Ezra Stein, William Steig, Amy Rosenthal, David Mitchell, Laini Taylor, Douglas Coupland, Tana French, Margaret Atwood, Lionel Shriver, Sebastien Japrisot, Sheri Tepper, Edward Gorey, Meg Cabot, Mary Pearson, Gabrielle Zevin, Adriana Trigiani, Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, Beth Kephart.
That's probably all...
So, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I might do to make very clear that the “solution” to fixing the Cape Henlopen school board’s ill-informed, intolerant, hasty removal of The Miseducation of Cameron Post from the Blue Hen reading list on the grounds that it has too much “inappropriate...

Putting a Price Tag on Book Events
Periodically, I get the question: “Why don’t you come to my area and do a book signing?”
Look, I love book signings. Love, love, love. Interacting with readers is one of the best parts of my job. And I love bookstores. They’re my happy place.
But I also love paying my mortgage.
Let’s look at how much a bookstore event costs me—at the bare minimum.
Very, very true. And it costs even more for those of us who live outside the US. I wish I could do more events, but I can't afford to.

Guess who is going to be talking CHASING BEFORE at Teen Author Carnival? ME!

Great offer!
In honor of the #WeNeedDiverseBooks campaign, I put together an archive of all the diverse YA and MG novels I have reviewed on Presenting Lenore since 2008. Check it out and maybe get some reading recommendations.
We are (as if you couldn’t tell by our posts!) huge science fiction/dystopian fans here at PPL: we are tremendously excited for tomorrow’s visit with Mindy McGinnis, who’ll be talking about her dystopian novel Not a Drop to Drink!
So of course we’re also thrilled that this year’s summer reading theme is Science! Here is a (very, very) brief guide to science fiction topics in some of our favorite YA reads. And to see these awesome book covers in full, click through the image to find our dedicated Pinterest board!
Love this!
Level 2 shout out!
Today we welcome YA Author Elizabeth Fama. Her novels include Plus One and Monstrous Beauty.
To me, the fun of writing science fiction or fantasy is in exploring deeper themes using an invented setting, and everything is in service of those themes. But I’m learning that...
