today is, without a doubt, one of the worst days of my life. I will never be able to express how much this woman impacted my life, how special our relationship was, how much I loved her. there were times when I was young that I called her mom, and she was always my person. my life, and the lives of so, so many others, are a lot dimmer now that she's gone. I will never be the same. but I'll never forget all the things she taught me, how much she loved me, and all the amazing memories we shared. I'm so grateful that we were able to spend time with her recently and I think she knew it would be our last time together. but it was filled with so much love, and that's all I could have asked for. rest easy, Nanaluff. I love you so much. ❤️💜 https://www.instagram.com/p/CCgou4YDkqg/?igshid=dkfjq5i88w31

witches of the african diaspora!!! please use the #afro witch tag! we need to find each other to build community (if connecting with other Black witches is what you want)
On the subject of Egyptians, whenever historians say that the ancient Egyptians weren’t black..I just take it with a grain of salt. I really do. I think of how much white history has erased black people from history, and how easy it is for someone in power to spin a lie that easily and spread that misinformation for everyone to believe.
Black people and our accomplishments are targets of erasure, and the fact that due to racism there’s still so much we don’t know and will never know just angers me. And to literally see it happening in our Modern Day, to literally claim that a nation the diaspora looks up to for representation didn’t look like us is just…it’s been done before.
And suddenly I don’t get mad at black people for claiming ancient egypt as their own.
And nevermind the fact that there is literally contradicting information, with historians saying “yes, they were black” and with others saying that they weren’t. And at the same time, the facial features on the tombs and statues are like…African, the hair textures, the skin tones drawn, etc.,
And I know it was an Ethnic melting pot, not every Ancient Egyptian king is going to be dark af, but that doesn’t mean that there weren’t. Not every ancient Egyptian was black, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t exist. People are so quick to take the possibility of black people out of Africa when nations right beside Egypt had dark skinned black people.
I just…don’t get it. Like I feel like people think black people are stupid and don’t understand the country we came from? Like we don’t recognize our own features on statues?
Anyway you all spent years trying to erase the black out of Egypt, and when statues and pictures are boasting our skin tones and facial features, it’s just…like telling.
And I know i’m going to get some white egyptologist salty af about this, but just know that your denial of black people ruiling ancient egypt has like, been refuted.
yes I know they’re different from the black people today, yes I know they weren’t ruling egypt for 100% of the time because there were Arab and roman influences, but yall honestly can’t take out black for ancient egypt, and you have to realize people arent going to trust you when yall have spend years trying to hide the accomplishments of dark skinned Africans.
Like historically white archeologist have hidden and come up with fake research to hide shit. And I challenge every white egyptologist to look at the source of what they’re learning.
Is it from a biased source that has spent years contributing to colonialization? Because if the answer is yes (which it is), the field of Egyptology is in need of a great reform, because you are learning from a nation that has actively dehumanized people of color.
Just a quick message of love to my fellow Native Americans who either mourn on Thanksgiving or who skip over the holiday entirely: you are so fucking valid and however you tackle this holiday–whether it is with anger, grief, or outright denial that it counts as a holiday at all–just know that you have the right to do so. Don’t let colonizers try to guilt you into celebrating a holiday you aren’t ready to or don’t want to reclaim.
Most people can tell a God “no” and go on about their lives. Most people, but not everyone. When it comes to serving the Gods, not everyone has a choice. Sometimes the Gods take what They want. And sometimes what They want is you.
So, I read this piece by the Druid John Beckett yesterday, and to say it was upsetting is an understatement. The Patheos Pagan Facebook page posted it and I left the comment, “Great. More consent-doesn’t-matter teaching in the pagan community. This is an incredibly problematic article that promotes spiritually abusive ideas. Not impressed.” So far I have received 3 replies. One of confusion, a male presenting person wondering what was problematic, and a female presenting person saying that the piece reminded them of demonic possession and rape. Members of the online pagan group I belong to also said that this piece scared the living daylights out of them. That’s when I decided that as a survivor of some extreme spiritual abuse, I needed to speak out as to why exactly this piece is spiritually abusive, especially knowing that John Beckett and I share a common past inside fundamentalist/high-demand Christianity. My response is pretty sweary and blunt, but consent and justice in paganism is something I’m incredibly passionate about. I keep my volunteer work with that on the down-low because I don’t want praise for it, but sometimes you just have to fucking say something.
“Because when it comes to serving the Gods, not everyone has a choice. Sometimes the Gods take what They want. And sometimes what They want is you.” Merely having this stance at all and being ok with it is pro non-consent. Sorry, but everyone has autonomy. And if anyone, even a deity, tries to take that autonomy away, they are not a person to be ok with and you are fully within your right to fight them tooth and nail over it and get support from others. Forcibly claiming someone and forcing them to worship and slave for you is incredibly fucked up no matter which way you swing it. This isn’t something to be ok with.
I don’t even know why he felt the need to bring agnostics into this at all. He could have just said, “this isn’t a question to be apathetic about,” which is valid, but instead chose to name agnostics specifically. Considering this isn’t the only article in which he’s made a point to jab at agnostics and atheists, It comes across as subtly yet very hostile towards a growing belief stance in paganism, which is inappropriate if he’s clergy.
“If you don’t care why the Gods sometimes claim people against their will then either you believe such things don’t happen, in which case you’re ignoring the first-hand accounts of those who’ve experienced it themselves. Or it hasn’t happened to you or anyone you know and so you haven’t given it any thought.” That’s a lot of assuming on Beckett’s part. My pagan group takes the hard stance that people have personal autonomy, free will, and the right to tell gods to fuck off if they’re trying to manipulate or force someone into doing something. We assure people that they have that power, and they also have the back up if they lack the confidence to use it. This isn’t ignoring first hand accounts - it’s positing that the current perception of being ok with forced worship and service is deeply wrong and skewed. To have a pro-consent community is to not even give the gods a pass.
“The Gods are older, stronger, and wiser than any human. They are more. If They want something They can take it – even if that something is you. Your “choice” is to go along with what They want, or deal with their wrath.” This is the part that got me absolutely livid. This is spiritually abusive to the core. Threatening people into not even trying to say no? Seriously? I know Beckett has a background in fundamentalist Christianity, so maybe this is a toxic thought process from his past he hasn’t shaken off yet, but this is not ok. I would like an actual study on how many people have been struck down by gods for saying no rather than anecdotes and threats from clergy members who have too much of a personal stake in whether or not people believe this.
I hope you can excuse the longer quote here, but holy. shit. “Let’s be blunt: for some of us, this is very reminiscent of abusive parents, partners, or law enforcement officials. The excuses made by and for these abusive persons (“it’s for your own good” “he really loves you” “you have to respect authority”) don’t hold any more water when it comes to the Gods than they do with humans who belong in jail. And, the Gods are always virtuous…..I completely reject the idea that “They’re Gods so They can do whatever They want” or “who are you to tell a God what’s right and wrong?” That way lies Calvinism and its many ills. I completely reject the idea that “They know that deep down you really want to do this.” Those are the words of a rape apologist. All I know is that the Gods are virtuous, and sometimes I see Them doing things that appear unvirtuous. I do not have a resolution for this dilemma.” This is where Beckett gets really close to the ethical answer and then shoots back off into fundie land, and it is so. Incredibly. Frustrating. YES, we should say that his stance so far is similar to rape, abuse, and oppression apology. ABSOLUTELY. And I have no idea why he couldn’t stick with that instead of ending it with saying the gods are always virtuous, even when they seem like they aren’t, and we can’t possibly comprehend the cognitive dissonance so….let’s just do and think the very things he just said he didn’t agree with…but does. I’m sorry, but WHAT??? He literally just spent up until now defending the very stances he’s now saying he doesn’t support, and then pulls a 180 in the same section to show his support for those stances again. This is one of the most ridiculous instances of mental gymnastics I’ve ever seen, and I peruse flat earth memes for shits and giggles. I seriously cannot tell if he is unable to recognize his own cognitive dissonance or if he is presenting the argument this badly on purpose to get people too confused to ask questions. Either way, I felt like head-desking hard enough to black myself out.
“The Gods are virtuous.” Are you fucking kidding me? No, they are not always virtuous. Wtf. I refuse to believe Beckett hasn’t read popular mythos. He’s clergy. This is a barefaced lie if I’ve ever seen one, and I seriously question what he has to gain by telling it. When the gods rape, it isn’t virtuous. When the gods murder or straight up commit or command genocide, it isn’t virtuous. When the gods oppress and enslave, it isn’t virtuous. When the gods demand unquestioned worship and servitude, it isn’t virtuous. When the gods try to trick you into compromising morals and ethics, it isn’t virtuous. It is not only ok, but necessary as theists, to hold the gods accountable, to tell the gods restorative justice is needed, and that anything less is unacceptable. I’m sure Beckett would consider this hubris, but any god or goddess worth your worship will view it as bravery. To have pagan community that upholds consent is to have a community that also stands up to their gods and demands justice when they try to strip people of their autonomy. On another note: the argument that the gods are virtuous even when they seem like they aren’t is also reminiscent of fundie Christian apologetics. “Oh, God’s ways aren’t ours dear. We can’t possibly understand. We just have to have faith in His plan.” Um, no. Demand answers. Demand restorative justice. Demand respect for boundaries and autonomy. If you don’t get any of that, you are completely within your right to walk away from that deity, and you have the power to do so. The only people who are going to tell you that you don’t are abusive and/or ignorant clergy/spiritual leaders and those that have believed the fear-mongering.
“Many of us are fond of quoting the line from Star Trek: “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one” – especially when the question is taxing the rich to provide for the common welfare. But when it’s our turn to be “taxed,” even in an area where we ourselves are relatively rich, we often cry theft.” Breaking news: Dude just compared forced worship and slavery to socialism in an attempt to support his point, but instead just proved he has no idea what socialism is. Ok, Boomer.
“Before the internal combustion engine, horses were perhaps the most common source of power for farming and transportation. A farmer may respect, value, and even love his horse, and give it the best of care. But he’s still going to hitch it up to the plow and force it to work in the fields all day.” Oh, where to start with this. Ok, first, not everyone has this kind of power dynamic in their devotion or work with gods (example: they don’t view themselves as workers for their gods and their gods don’t view them as workers, but instead have a myriad of any other relationship dynamics), and comparing people to workhorses is about 50 shades of fucking ridiculous. Second, there are quite a few people that would argue this isn’t ok to do to horses either, so this definitely isn’t going to win them over whether we agree with them or not. Third, people who do use workhorses by and large do their best to make sure that the care of the animal includes not overworking it. Forcing someone to work on something when they vehemently don’t want to or can’t is a form of abuse. If you want a more fleshed out argument against this, I highly recommend watching the episode Pretense from Stargate SG-1 season 3. Here is the synopsis: https://stargate.fandom.com/wiki/Pretense.
“Humans discussing the nature of the Gods is like cats discussing the nature of humans. What do They know that we can never understand, not because we don’t have enough information, but because it’s beyond the capacity of our brilliant but still limited minds?” I’m not going to get into this theological argument but what I will say is, even though my cats don’t entirely understand me or my human ways, I have never used that against them. I don’t force them to do things that are objectively harmful. I don’t abuse them and then tell everyone that my ways aren’t the cats ways and it’s therefore not abuse. And I actually make an effort to read up on cat behavior to try my best to relate to them on their level to make sure we have a good relationship, and when I fail at that I change my ways, admit my wrong, and definitely don’t try to gaslight the cat into accepting my past behavior. Also, I work on meeting the cats needs rather than being their tyrant overlord. And if a cat doesn’t like me for whatever reason I’m not going to kidnap it and force it to live with me and do things for me. If your god/dess is acting like an irresponsible cat owner towards you, RUN.
“Most of us will never have to deal with this. But any of us can find ourselves in a situation where we can no longer refuse what is asked of us….Now I have sworn oaths. Beyond my formal commitments, I have set precedents that in Their eyes are just as binding. I could not abandon them and their work even if I wanted to….having made my choice, I cannot simply change my mind. Perhaps I could negotiate a change of terms or even a complete release. But I tend to think not.” Alright, I’m going to give all of you the Oath Talk. You are never, ever required to oath yourself to anyone or anything, including deities. You can work with deities without oathing to them, and if a deity continues to push you to oath when you’ve told them to back off, you don’t need to continue working with them. Now, if you are going to make an oath, please do it carefully. Be fully informed before making the decision. If a deity holds you to an oath you didn’t entirely understand when you made it, they did not give you the space to consent and you are therefore not held to that oath. Set boundaries. Give yourself an out in case you end up needing one. Don’t take on more than you want to or can handle. No matter what anyone else or a deity says, you do not have to give unquestioned servitude or worship. If at any point it becomes apparent to you that a deity is abusing your oath, they have broken the contract and you are allowed to leave. If you made an abusive oath, or oathed in a way that has led to you being abused, you are allowed to leave it and grow beyond it. You have the power to protect yourself if it comes to that, and there are others in the broader pagan community who can help you. No one should feel trapped in a relationship, because that is not a healthy relationship - it’s abuse.
In conclusion, it doesn’t seem like Beckett ever left fundamentalism. He has brought toxic teachings over into his druid practice and teaches them to the people who look up to him for guidance. If we’re going to create a culture of consent and restorative justice in our pagan communities, it needs to start with our beliefs and practices, and we need to speak out when we see people, especially leaders, continuing teachings that lack consent and restorative justice.

How to use a sigil wheel.
A tutorial.
I rarely use this method myself, but I know people are always looking for tutorials on different methods of sigil making and not finding any. I’ve had a few different people asking for more graph based sigil making techniques, and this is a fairly well known one that fits that category. I hope this tutorial is coherent and answers questions instead of making things more confusing. If you have any questions, however, never be afraid to ask.
Hi there little flowers! I hope you’ll like this lil guide I made :) Thank you so much @inkanddestroy for this post (where you can find other ways to draw sigils and how you can activate them) you baiscally taught me how to draw them. I love you guys.
🌕✨ moon water correspondences ✨🌕
taken from one of my favourite pages of my grimoire!
moon water can be used for blessings, enhancing spells or rituals, for promoting clarity or relaxation, in love magic, wealth/prosperity magic, to increase psychic awareness, and many other purposes! but by harnessing your moon water at different times, you can then incorporate the specific traits of that time/phase/zodiac period into your spell work.
✨new moon water ✨
the new moon is associated with new beginnings, so use new moon water in spells or rituals focusing on things like new employment, new relationships, or new homes.
e.g. when moving into a new home, add a couple of tablespoons of new moon water to the water you would normally use to cleanse your house with!
✨waxing moon water ✨
the waxing moon is the period in which the moon is growing in size, so use waxing moon water as a way to grow the strength of your spells. waxing moon water is also beneficial in spells to promote growth (of abilities, skill, or knowledge). the power of the waxing moon also increases the potency of fertility spells, wealth, luck, business and relationship spells
✨full moon water ✨
the full moon is the point at which the moon is at its peak, so use full moon water for spells that require an extra push of energy. also use full moon water in spells to promote strength, love, protection, health, or use in spells to strengthen spiritual gifts and achieve your dreams
✨waning moon water ✨
the waning moon is the period in which the moon is decreasing in size, so use waning moon water for all magic intended to remove things from your life; banishing spells to rid yourself of bad habits, toxic relationships, lingering diseases, weight loss, stress, addictions and negativity
✨dark moon water ✨
when justice is required and is not obtainable outside of your spell work, casting in the dark of the moon and adding dark moon water will help with any crosses, hexes or binding spells
✨super moon water ✨
think of full moon water x1000000…… when you need an EXTRA BIG KICK OF ENERGY for your spells, this guy has you covered
✨lunar eclipse moon water ✨
the lunar eclipse signifies change, so when drastic change is required, the addition of lunar eclipse water draws on the phenomenal change shown during an eclipse, as the moon cycles through all of its stages in a single instance
✨zodiac* moon water ✨

Witchy Baths Masterpost
Here is a big masterpost of different types of baths for different types of witches! Use these baths before or after witchcraft to pump yourself up or to wind down. And you do not have to be any specific type of witch to use any of these baths. Any witch can use them.
Note: Many of these baths call for crystals. Research crystals before getting them wet. Many of them listed you should not put in water, instead keep them at the edge of your tub or near it.
Sea Witch Bath
Kelp Powder (1 tsp)
Sea Salt (½ tsp)
Coconut Oil (1 spoonful)
Coconut Water (½ cup)
Sea Glass, Sea shells, aquamarine, ocean jasper, abalone, pearl, larimar, coral, sand dollars and/or clear quartz
Wood Spoon
Blue and white candles (optional- ocean scented ones)
Steps: Light your candles before filling the tub. Once you start filling the tub add your coconut oil, coconut water, sea salt and kelp powder. With your spoon stir clockwise to help mix in the powder, which can take a bit. The water should turn a faint green tint (the more kelp you add the greener it gets but also the stronger the smell gets). Line your tub’s edge with your sea glass, sea shells, and gemstones. Be sure not to let the gemstones fall in the water, especially if they are ones that can’t get wet. Get into your tub and enjoy.
Note: Kelp powder smells very strongly of kelp, it is a scent I personally like but a lot of people don’t. Air out your bathroom a bit after the bath to disperse the smell. Also if you do not wish to smell like kelp yourself, rinse off after your bath quickly.
Swamp Witch Bath
Kelp Powder (2 spoonfuls)
Clay or Bath Mud like Moor Mud (read label for how much to use)
Green and brown candles
Wooden Spoon
Snail shells, alligator teeth, rounded rocks and any green gemstones you may have
Optional- Moss if you have potted moss to keep on the edge of the tub (or a moss bathmat)
Steps: Light your candles then begin to fill your tub. Add in your kelp powder and the mud, using your wooden spoon stir clockwise to mix. Depending on the type of mud/clay you are using the water will either turn very green to a dark brown. Line your tub with your gemstones, rocks, teeth and snail shells. If you are bringing in a moss plant or other plants keep them near the tub. Get into the tub and relax, if your moss is a stepable type of moss and in reach you can rub your fingers in it as you relax.
Note: Like the sea witch bath, you may want to air out the bathroom after your bath. This bath will smell much stronger of kelp and you may want to shower afterwards to avoid smelling strongly of kelp. You may have to rinse your tub to rid of mud used.
Forest Witch Bath
Pine Needles
Pinecones
Pine essential oil (2 drops)
3 bags of green or black tea
Green sachet
Mint
Cedar Chips
Green Candles (optional- tree or plant scented ones)
Steps: Light your candles and begin filling your tub. In you sachet add 1 part cedar chips and 1 part mint. Tie it shut and add to your bath as it fills. You may then add the pine needles to float freely or you may add them in a sachet as well. Add your two drops of pine oil once the tub is half filled to ensure it is well diluted in the bath. Add your tea bags into the water, line your tub with the pinecones and get in.
Note: essential oils can be harsh on certain skins, dilute the oil with a carrier oil and test on your skin to see if it affects you. If your skin is too sensitive for pine oil omit it from the spell.
Floral Witch Bath
Rose petals
Lavender
Chamomile
Meadow sweet/Sweet grass
Rosemary
Pink and/or Green sachets
Pink Candles
Rose Quartz and Milky Quartz
Floral scented candles or incense of choice
Steps: In your sachet(s) add your lavender, chamomile, meadow sweet/sweet grass and rosemary. Light your candles and incense. Once you begin filling your tub add your sachets, once tub is half filled add your Rose petals. Line your tub with your quartz and get in to enjoy.

Star Anise
White Sachet
Basil
Chammomile
Orange peels/slices or Lemon peels/slices
Goldstone (blue, green, purple, etc)
Purple, white and blue candles
Steps: Light your candles before you begin to fill your tub. In your sachet add your Basil and Chamomile (about 1 part each). Add in your sachet and star anise as the tub fills. Add your glitters of choice to the water as well and until it glitters the amount you desire. Line your tub with the goldstone. Add your citrus peels or slices before you get in. Relax and enjoy your bath.
Note: Due to glitter you may have to rinse the tub after your bath.

It’s such an injustice that women have been made to fear the night. Women have such a strong connection to the moon and the night is a time where feminine energy flows and the goddess is in the air. The night belongs to women and being out in the moonlight is good for the woman’s soul. It’s a crime that men have tried to take that away from us.
