Leofrey walks into the library on the second floor of the academy, making his way to the section of books he’d been sorting at the large registry table. It’s a small project, but it’s been an okay pastime and a good way to avoid his friends.

See, but today, there’s somebody there. He pauses slightly, then decides to go anyways. “Hello.”

*I raise an eyebrow at the newcomer, clearly annoyed at being interrupted while I was reading.*

Hello. Who are you and why have you decided to interrupt me? I was rather enjoying my book.

*I shut the book and set it on the table. You see it’s a book on the history of Tribunals and exiles.*

Leofrey glances at the cover, noting it but not being very interested.

“This is my setup. I am sorting the older articles as a replacement detention.”

He says level in tone, calmly meeting her eyes. His own are barely blue, a dark grey.

Hmph. And here I am, just skipping it.

*Her eyes, a glimmering blue with a depth one would liken to a labyrinth—easy to get lost in and far more disorienting than one would expect, meet his. She seems annoyed, but it looks natural on her. Like that’s her default expression.*

Yeah, I know, what a nerd I am. Skipping detention to read. But—*she sighs*—it’s not as if I have anything better to do.

What did you do to get detention anyways? You don’t seem the type.

Leofrey considers the girl for a second and then decide she seems fairly harmless. He’s not really want to make many new friends- at least not his own age, but frequently people will come up to him and start talking. He supposes this is somewhere in the middle.

“Well… I was simply having some fun with another boy, and I suppose I upset him somewhat.” he says this rather pleasantly, as if unbothered.

“and yourself, miss… ?” He prompts.

Miss Talle. But you can just call me Auburn. I made some kid lunch himself in the nose during PE. In my defense, he beat me at splotching which was really annoying.

*She laughs at that, like she hasn’t got a care in the world about the person she hurt. She doesn’t seem outright malicious, but she does give off the vibe of someone who doesn’t handle conflict sanely.*

I can help you organize some of these books, if you want.

“ah, well then. Auburn.” He says, inclining his head slightly and extending his hand, which one she extends to shake, he lifts to press to his pink lips, somewhat charmingly, and you get the feeling that this works for him.

“ I would quite like that, the more the merrier as they say.” He smiles slightly, having remembered finally who she is. The Mesmer girl! Yes, she was interesting. And she could be a useful friend to have.

By the way, what’s your ability? You are of manifesting age, aren’t you?

*She focused, taking a hold of your mind and body and forcing you to organize the articles with a mindless focus.*

Despite being rather uncomfortable, feeling as though his skin is crawling, he keeps a pleased expression, simply raising an eyebrow at her.

“ how about you, a Mesmer, yes?” He pauses, “-or I’d be rather concerned. It’s hard to notice how he’s completely evaded the question. This is a boy who is used to getting what he wants, and having people listen.

I am, yes. Now, don’t avoid the question. Unless you’re scared?

*She smirks, the look smug.*

”oh, hardly. My mother is an enhancer, my father a psinopath, and both manifested their 6th year.” witch an easy look at her, he flicks his fingertips against the covers of his books, searching.

I see. That’s good to know. I would like to meet your mother, I think.

You still haven’t answered my question, though. Don’t make me make you tell me.

*The look in her eyes turns darkly gleeful, like she wants to mind control you again. After all, it’s not like you’ll remember much of what happened if she doesn’t want you to.*

he raises both hands, giving her an easy smile. "Hey, hey, I can appreciate a powerful woman when I see one. I've not manifested yet, but just you wait."

He says with a smug little look, winking as he flicks up a volume with far too little ease- he seems to use telekinesis to some level in his daily life, simply making things easier and faster as if by instinct.

*She rolls her eyes at your antics.* Whatever. Hey, by the way, I’m skipping next session too. I can’t stand Sir Lorry.

Join me, if you want. Or don’t. I’ll probably still be reading like a loser anyways.

Leofrey pauses, considering. Eventually, he smiles. It still isn’t fully reaching his eyes, but he’s clearly not upset about this prospect.

“why not? Although I have to insist we spend our time doing something more interesting, as far as a study session goes, it’s hardly the most interesting thing happening at this school.”

You’re right. I suppose. I’m always willing to get into more trouble, if that’s what you’re implying. It’s not like anyone can hold me accountable after.

*It’s her turn to wink. You get the feeling she’s done something like that before.*

Leofrey doesn’t really respond, just gives her what he intends to be an enticing smile. He’s got canines a little too sharp, eyes a little too bright blue and it’s the effect of making him look a little wild.

“shall we?” He says, standing straight before extending his hand elegantly.

*She takes his hand, her fingers warmer than an elf’s should be.*

So, what do you suppose we do? Don’t tell me you’re boring.

*She gives him a cheeky smile, like he’s the most entertaining creature she’s seen in a while.*

Holding the girls hand. He begins to lead them out of the library through the staff exit.

“Are you aware of young mister Avenida, and his little… scheme?” Leofrey asks, having already come up with a source of entertainment for the next day- but a little early birding never hurt.

Hearte Avenida is a slightly older boy who as of the last few weeks, had been anyonmously reporting dress code violations, including leofrey's lovely leather boots and many a girl for the wrong length of socks, skirt, or hair.

I was not, but he sounds annoying already. What’s your plan?

*She follows after him, light on her feet. She seems almost giddy at the prospect of having a new victim.*

”I’ve taken one of his books and placed it into his locker. He’ll need it by the end of the day… but it’s lunch period, so if we can get him to do it now… let’s just say there’s a bit of a surprise in there.” He says, very pleased in tone as he walks her. He keeps a good pace, being mindful of where she’s stepping and how fast.

“ that’s where you come in, Auburn.”

Oh, you’re evil. I love it.

*Her grin turns sharp. This is the kind of thing she lives for. They slip into the hallway together, waiting near Hearte’s locker. When he walks past, she slips into his mind she grabs a hold.*

*She forces him to open the locker, but in her eagerness, she makes him wrench it open way too hard.*

with a rather alarming hiss, because of the added force of the door, the kids dumbbells back wildly as the acid fizzles against his face, screaming. It high and girl and Leofrey lets out a silently amused huff. Pussy.

Leofrey makes an entertained whistle, impressed. “That was excellent, Talle.”

*She’s arrogant. Clearly.*

But was that it? Just a little acid attack that Elwin can fix pretty easily? I mean, he didn’t really do anything that bad but that’s kind of boring, don’t you think?

Leofrey, leaning back admires the thin trails of blue-ish pus and red blood that drool against the floor. It would make a pretty painting. With a smile he counts by flicking his fingers like a director until the kid stumbles into the locker slightly, still screaming and fighting for consciousness, and wobbling backwards when quite a good bit of white powder spills out onto him. Leofrey looks slightly surprised but quickly fades into pleased.

“ that would be the stars I suppose.”

Oh! That’s much more interesting. Where did you get that?

*She’s fighting her smile down. She knows she shouldn’t be enjoying this but she hasn’t had this much fun in ages. This Leofrey kid might be good company after all…and it doesn’t hurt that he’s pretty.*

“Not so hard to source when you make friends.” He says with a wink. “But this batch is mine- cut it with salt too.” He sounds smug as anything and you want to grab him and shake him.

He gives her a wink, tucking a strand of hair behind his ear. “Could teach you sometime.”

*She rolls her eyes. Ugh. He’s annoying. But he’s fun enough. I’ll just shut him up if I have to.*

Anyways, what now? You think he’s gonna snitch?

”i doubt it. Most likely of anything he gets away with pinning it on some older kid with the smack in there, I’d think. But who cares about him, anyways?” Leofrey shrugs, standing from the wall.

Not me. I just don’t want to have to brainwash anyone—that’s a lie. I would love to brainwash a Mentor. Whatever else shall we do?

*She takes his hand again, still warm. Scarily warm, now.*

Perhaps we could find someone else to harass? I’ve got a few people in mind. Callista Verloren has been trying to show me up lately and I cannot stand it. I want her to know not to trifle with me. You understand that, right?

“of course, I’ve encountered her… perhaps once?. What did you have in mind?” He says, holding her hand and smiling mischievously. He rolls up the cuffs of his wrists.

We should make her slit her own throat. Actually, maybe her wrists. I want to see the look on her face when I see her in class the next day and she’s hiding the wounds.

*Her grin turns almost manic.*

He whistles, raising both eyebrows. “You’re a regular vermillion, aren’t you.” he’s smiling though, and that seeing the face she makes quickly interjects, smooth as can be,

“as in gorgeous and vicious, aubs. That sounds fun and I think it’s better to torment than to kill at least for now.. hm.., it would be the most interesting if she did it at home. And at least easy to prove it was us..”

But I want to see the look on her face when she realizes she can’t do anything about it.

*She frowns dramatically, giving you the feeling that you want to make her happy again. It’s not her line control, she’s just very good at manipulating her facial expressions.*

Why is torturing someone so hard? I mean, I guess we could break into her house later. But then we’d have nothing to do right now. Unless you have someone else in mind, because I have a few ideas for what we could do.

He pauses, seemingly in thought. “Well, if you can make he leap to a different location I can… play a little game to keep her unaware while you do it.”

Leofrey suggests as they walk past screaming kids running for a teacher for the unconscious heap of a prodigy on the ground. He watches them fondly.

*The malicious grin returns to her face.* Oh, now you’re speaking my language. I can do that. Where are we taking her, hm?

*She raises an eyebrow, intrigued. Her gaze drifts to where everyone else is screaming, a twinkle in her eye the only suggestion of how much she enjoys being the cause of that.*

”hm… revonstrait? It’s a park, but it’s been abandoned since the whole… incident.” He says, not looking very bothered at all. “Fitting for our purposes, no?”
