Welcome to Overheard in the Lost Cities! This is a community blog for Keeper of the Lost Cities–inspired posts like AITA, Overheard Quotes, juicy rumors, and other fun headcanons.

Anyone is welcome to submit posts or asks! You will, of course, be credited. I will be moderating what gets posted and might make slight edits, but I definitely want this to be a community thing and am super open to ideas. If you have an idea but aren’t sure how to put it into format, feel free to DM me too.

AITA: I Accidentally Ruined My Best Friend’s Abilities

A few weeks ago, the Council approached me about making a special tool that would help keep our world safe. I was so honored. I thought this was my chance to redeem my family’s reputation and make life better for my parents and my younger siblings. But the Council put the horrible thing on my best friend, and it was so painful and a total disaster.

I feel like the worst friend in the world. Some of my friends say it wasn’t my fault, but I think they’re still mad at me.

I’m TA, right?

AITA: I Hid A Secret Life From My Husband

Many years ago, I secretly joined an organization which is fighting for change and reform in our world. It is a good cause, but it’s dangerous, so I made the difficult choice to leave my husband and four kids out of it. Now, they’ve found out I kept it from them, and they’re so mad. I feel terrible.

AITA for leaving my situationship to pursue a career that would probably last my whole life without telling my situationship, irreparably breaking their trust in me?

I (700+ M Libra) and my (now ex) cognate (700+ M/F/T Sagittarius) became cognates at Foxfire (graduates of 1654, where my Bramble Bulls Champions at?) and lived together while I was chief mentalist for upwards of 3 centuries. I received a job offer during this time (won't go into detail) that had tons of benefits, including but not limitied to classified information, unquestioned authority, and fancy clothing. The only downside was that I wasn't allowed to have a partner of any kind, which included my cognate situationship.

Just wanna let reader know, I'm super bad at confrontation, so I was really scared to tell cognate that I wanted to accept and break our cognate bond. Anyway I received some advice from my job offerer, and after some consideration, accepted the job. The night before my official employment, I wrote cognate a letter explaining where I had gone and that I wouldn't be coming back which was why all my stuff was either packed or thrown away. I put it on cognate's desk before leaving and the next morning I got the job.

Anyway, I personally have always been the kind of guy to prioritze career and success, and cognate knew this pretty well about me.

AITA: I Won and Now Everyone Hates Me

I had five minutes in the Neverseen storehouse, and no way to take everything back. I didn’t want them to use those horrible things to hurt us anymore, so I burned them.

Now, everyone is freaking out about how I should’ve consulted everyone (like there was time for that) and how they’re going to retaliate—as if THEY aren’t the ones constantly attacking US!
