Normal TV Time episode

Was bored
Not that I'm defending the Player's (our) actions in Deltarune, but the game mechanism (possession, etc) needs to be discussed more.
Like, I fully understand that Undertale/Deltarune are not supposed to be like average RPG games.
In the UT/DR universes, the Player controls characters who are aware of it, several characters recognize to some extent what we do, the game is meta, I understand it.
(And like, no Chara jokes here, we frick Kris and Noelle up heavily if we choose to do the Weird Route.)
.
However...
I feel like most of the debates about "Kris is good/evil", "the Soul is good/evil", "the Soul had a choice/no choice", etc...
...Are sort of only focused on who is the one committing the actions we can see, who is the guilty party, who is the one responsible for it.
Like, the discussions have been so focused on the dynamic between Kris and us, that they sort of ignore the question of "How did this come to be?".
.
Like, most of the "game mechanics" already come with narrative explanations in the UT/DR plot. The power to Save, Load, or Reset? A mysterious power called Determination. Raising up EXP and LV? Level of Violence. Different universes or files? Alternate timelines.
And the Player's possession of the protags (Frisk & Kris) should also have some explanation similar to it.
*Heavy emphasis* on our possession of Kris, since 1) Gaster (and someone else?) artificially connected us to a vessel, 2) the possession is having a huge impact on the Deltarune plot, especially during the Weird Route.
.
(I'm sure these questions would be answered in future chapters of DR, but--) So I think we need to ask more on why the game system/possession is like this, and what the narrative explanation is going to be--instead of *only* focusing on "who is to blame for these actions".
. 1) Like, why can Kris (and Chara, Flowey, etc?) recognize our presence, unlike the protags in other RPG games?
2) We force Kris to take the Weird Route, but why is the keyword "Proceed" so mechanical and consistent if it's a part of Kris' darker thoughts? (We can choose it, but it doesn't mean we *write* it.)
3) Why can Kris not do certain idle actions or expressions (such as using their real voice when we don't pick the dialogue options / playing the piano by themselves / etc) while we are controlling them, unlike some protags in other RPG games?
4) Why can we not see most of Kris' expressions or hear their words, while everyone else can?
5) Who is in charge of the narrations, and with what standards do they differentiate between "you" and "Kris"?
I really didn't.
More Tapestray (Deltarune OC) lore doodles:
(It was a very peaceful usurping of the crown for the couch cliffs, when the old ruler knows the new one was prophesied to arrive then what do you gotta do.)
Small Deltarune analysis: While watching ch 3 playthroughs of people, I realized something ironic from the ("trolling") quiz answers related to Kris.
Like, some people get this question right by answering "Pie" right off the bat (without replaying),
...Because they didn't read deep into the flavor texts / optional convos /healing factor related to Kris enjoying chocolate.
Only going through the main plot and not caring much about details, the most those players see is Kris eating pie after ch 1, so they assume "oh it might be pie".
And they're right.
This question as well:
If you went through the optional conversations with the NPCs, you'd assume Asriel loved the green lizard. But if you didn't care enough, you'd most likely throw the quiz and choose the default answer.
Aka, the first answer on the option, the "Sword Magician".
And you'd be right.
I have a feeling there's a message to this irony, something that might be important.
What if, in this game, it's much better to be completely oblivious and admit you know nothing--
...Than knowing only SOME things and assuming that you know everything based off of those limited details?
I think it'd be funny if the Knight had been the one to control Spamton NEO, especially since now we know what they look like and they're 99% Dess Holiday, because
My mind can't stop visualizing THIS imagery--
--When someone tries to silence him during his battle.
So who's the innocent-looking friendly cat that occasionally popped up in the chapters?
turn back
the contrast of kris/player relationship between routes is absolutely hilarious
I opened up my Tomodachi Life save after 2 years Saw this in the apartments Immediately turned it back off
I've invented the (crack)ship between the Bucket from TSP:UD and the Watercooler from DR.
Aka, The Stanley Parable Reassurance Bucket from the indie game The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
&
The Watercooler from Deltarune Chapter 3.
(The temporary ship name will be WaterBucket.)
They are POWERFUL.
They have so much chemistry together, I can see it.
(Though I feel like they will continuously fight for dominance. With casualties involved.)
You cannot survive them while you are weak, and they both know it.
But you have a fighting chance if you feel bold enough to express your true love toward them.
But in the end they are not meant for mere mortals.
They maybe Gods. Spirits even. With an incomprehensible lore.
They are also a legion out to get you. Only death awaits.
(This is a joke post, clarifying it just in case 😭)
Think this might be my first ever Deltarune OC (aside from my Player-sona...)
Meet Tapestray ("tapestry" + "stray"!)
(Deltarune Chapter 3 Spoilers!)
They were the original ruler of the Dark World in Kris' home before Tenna's arrival, and they know like 80% of the lore...
But the catch is that they have been given less and less meaning from everyone, enough to be forgotten. (And that meaning has been shrinking and shrinking further, especially after Tenna's arrival and such.)
By Chapter 3, if a Dark World did spawn in the house, they'd stay alive for like 2 seconds and then turn into stone.
Now that Tenna is not exactly around? .....Hmmmm--
(...Anyway I can bet my Soul that in future Chapters, there will be another Dark World opening in Kris' home but all the stuff Tenna had tried to hide. There had to be a significant reason the prophecy foretold his death in particular, and I think it's THAT.)
