Le Rêve de Sam (2018)

Réalisé par Nölwenn Roberts. Le Rêve de Sam raconte l’histoire d'une petite souris qui, par un beau matin de printemps, décide de réaliser son rêve, un rêve assez fou pour une petite souris : voler avec les hirondelles. Sam a un an jour pour jour pour réaliser ce rêve en défiant les lois de l’apesanteur et l’incompréhension des autres animaux de la forêt.

My friends !! Sam’s Dream has been running in festivals for more than a year and you can now watch it online on MyFrenchFilmFestival during a month from today :) I hope you’ll like it !

Hello everybody !

Sam just got selected in it’s 40th festival today and the year isn’t over !! YEAY :D

First selection !!! Sam will be screened at the Clermont-Ferrand Short-Movie Festival in 2019 :D We’ll see you there !

Sam is officially FINISHED !! 

Finished... two years working from home, travelling to Angoulême and Annecy to work with different studios, meeting lots of amazing artists and persons, solving problems, dealing with stress, deadlines, egos, colors and many other challenges...and now it’s finished. What a journey.

I spent so many days, weeks, months working and working that now I have no more work to do on the film it feels really strange. I wonder if one day I’ll be able to watch it without looking for anything that  could be better...but I have to say, even if nothing can be perfect, I am happy :) Have a great day !

Hello hello !

I keep saying Sam’s almost done but...it’s almost done !! 

Last Monday we went to a studio to record the String Quartet for Sam’s Dream music, it was so amazing ! I’ve heard the music before many times but only with virtual instruments, being in a room with real ones and feeling all the vibrations of strings was so much better !

Very greatful for my producer to have made the choice of recording this part, and for those super talented musiciens for playing it : thanks to composer Erwann Chandon and players Anna Swieton, Solveig Tissier, Claire-Marie Bronx and Marion Elan Trigo ! Now we only have a little bit of compositing left and the final mix. See you after that !!

Hello weberyone !

A few month ago we were celebrating the end of the animation...Today is the end of the color !! I mean...there are some retakes here and there but every shot is colored ! Every shot...is colored. This phrase is so incredible to me. Like it’s almost the end...OMG. 

Still lot of work to do to prepare everything for compositing, apart from those retakes and as all my files are kind of messy, I need to clean everything and be sure every detail is ok.

Above the same animation of Sam by Sebastien Rouxel, colored with the help of Anaël Seghezzi and Eline Landrevie.

Did you went to Annecy ?! Sam’s team and I did :) And we made a demo on the Tvpaint booth at the MIFA: https://www.instagram.com/p/BkNVRhrlq6l/?taken-by=tvpaint I’m so grateful for the TVP team being so nice and welcoming !! I had a really great time !

Then I went back to Angoulême to continue our work with the super cool studio Les Films du Poisson Rouge (Films of the Golden Fish :)). Even if we’re making most of the film on Tvpaint, some of the shots are very hard to handle with it so we're also working with Films of the Golden Fish’ Anaël Seghezzi, who created an incredible rendering software called MOE, and is a great help on Sam !

My dear web friends, Today our animation assistant cleaned up the last three shots, in other words : THE ANIMATION IS DONE :D

I can’t tell how happy and proud this makes me ! There is still a lot of work to do, coloring the animation, compositing, music and sound design....but this is a big big step, thanks a lot to the amazing 13 animators and clean up artists who made this happened !! I am forever grateful.

Hello hello! Here is a colorkey from the sequence I’ve been working on lately, and well colors....it’s very hard. Very. But in the same time super exciting to learn new things! And some friends are here to help too so I don’t feel too lost :) Gosh I hope this short-movie will be beautiful. (Here I’m using Dice Tsutsumi’s brush, but it won’t be the same for the final rendering, I’m keeping the brush from the first drawing of Sam :))

Bonjour bonjour! Voici un colorkey de la séquence sur laquelle j’ai travaillé dernièrement, et bien les couleurs.....c’est difficile. Très. Mais en même temps très excitant d’apprendre de nouvelles choses! Et puis plusieurs amis sont là pour aider aussi alors ça va je ne me sens pas trop perdue :) Purée j’espère que ce court-métrage sera joli. (Ici j’utilise la brush de Dice Tsutsumi, mais ce ne sera pas la même pour le rendu final, je garde la brush des premiers dessins de Sam :))

Hi everyone !

I want to introduce you to one of Sam’s Dream character: the Squirrel ! The project is of course about having dreams and working to make them true, but also about helping each other and friendship, just like in life. 

Thanks to Mister Zébé Lourdelet to have spent time on the characters and made them so cute and alive :)
