everytime there’s another self righteous post making fun of people disliking data centers on my dash it’s just like okay i would like you to come live in my house and think wow i should open my window while im stuck studying in my room all day and then promptly have to close it because the data center noise is so fucking loud and then think wow maybe i should go on a walk! and then discover that they’re digging up the sidewalk to lay fiber optics cables. and then try to go to work but whoops! it takes twice as long as it should because of all the data center construction traffic where they’re demolishing one of your former fav places to go because the owners caved to the millions upon millions offered to them to sell the land to data center developers. and then whoops you drive past another sign for a local gov meeting because they’re re zoning the ten by ten plot of grass where the last three standing trees in the country remain bc they can prob fit a data center in there too. you look it up on your phone and find out btw last week local historians found out that said plot of grass is actually the location of an incredibly important historic site they’ve been looking for for years. no there will not be an archeological dig. when you try to leave work you can not get down the road to turn onto your street because the data center buses are blocking it. when you go to bed, it is not dark out because every single data center has ten thousand lights on it and for some reason every single one is pointing at the sky
