Woman is plane, colour, light
Once again trying to convince the mincemeat fandom to listen to the Lempicka soundtrack 🙏
Anyway this is finally finished! After 16 hours! In my last post I said that my next piece would be non mince but that got sidelined (sorry to the one person I told that idea to) but happy I finally drew Hester to all those who celebrate. Some elements of this are a bit rushed but I threw some noise over the top of it to make it all lovely and crunchy.
The premise of this drawing is that I realised that I needed to have a go at drawing something in the style of Tamara de Lempicka, and while I’ve made a post before about how I believe Jean would have looked up to Lempicka and the idea of the new woman, I do like to think Hester would have been quietly admiring of her as well, and I believe (?) that Hester would have been a young woman as Lempicka was most influential.
Either way I am happy with how this turned out, and I did really enjoy doing the face and hands. I also didn’t use the blend tool for this piece at all though I can’t actually think of a good reason why I did that.
Here are some closeups! I realised after I did it that the glasses chain is wrong but to be honest I quite like how it looks at the front of the arm.
Anyway thank you to all who read this. I know I don’t stop going on about it but I do really recommend Lempicka the musical. I think another reason why I chose to draw Hester in this way is because the song that the caption is from, Woman Is, is about how woman are works of art and I think that what I wanted to do ultimately is present her as the beautiful woman she is.
