first kill being cancelled is homophobic yes but y'all should NOT ignore the racism side of it. plain and simple people prefer queer media with white people. they already don't like seeing black people at all, let alone dark-skinned black lesbians.

it's so fucking annoying that poc cannot escape racism ANYWHERE. as long as y'all keep these shitty ass mindsets we will never learn and grow. i am so fucking tired.

Streaming services like netflix have a formula. They hire diverse creators who make them a show with good queer/poc representation. They fund the show but intentionally don't promote it, that way if it does poorly they can cancel it, throw their hands up and pretend they tried. Another corpse to throw onto the "Representation Matters" pile. It's no longer bury your gays, it's cancel your gays.

First Kill did great all things considered and yet it still got cancelled. The reality is, nothing short of a gajillion views would have saved it. They never planned on renewing first kill, it was always just a bone thrown to a starving dog. They have no problem renewing shows with (usually white) mlm that straight women can obsess over so that they can pretend they care about giving queer people representation.

All I've ever wanted is a single tv show with queer female main characters that gets to tell it's full story across multiple seasons, but I can't shake the fear that in this age of streaming services we may never see that reality.
