So, as it turns out...
If Byler was never going to happen, Noah Schnapp wasn't going to spoil it. So they shut him down any time he wanted to speak on the subject because they wanted a gay man to partake in baiting an audience of hopeful young gay and bi people who wanted to see themselves represented on screen.
They scapegoated him and shamed him as a group in multiple interviews when he said even the most innocuous things so that they could easily control him, knowing he would be the one who would want to warn fans what was coming. They made him seem untrustworthy or like a loose canon so he'd feel his career was threatened if he decided to say anything that might prepare for fans, people just like him, for an upcoming heartbreak.
That is beyond psychologically abusive, all so they wouldn't risk losing cash from their most bigoted viewers, viewers who have shown time and again how much they despise people like him, and characters like Will.
You cannot make that up. This is not something any gay actor should be forced to go through, because it sends a powerful industry message.
The Duffers are sick for that.
