Oh, uh, hey there! My name's Hiccup. I uh...trained a dragon and now life's pretty different. I also met this girl...Merida. Now we're kinda...boyfriend and girlfriend. I'm living in DunBroch with Toothless as a blacksmith apprentice, actually! Hehe, yep, life is pretty different these days! But I guess that's what makes it interesting! "You got it!" He then cracked two eggs in a bowl and stirred them up with a form before throwing some bacon in his second frying pan. "Huh…gimmie three. I’m makin’ it into a sandwich!"

Hiccup then poured the eggs into the pan before flipping over the bacon, which had now began to sizzle and give off a satisfying aroma. “So, uh,” he began, glancing over his shoulder at her quietly. “You uh…have any plans later on?”

Merida nodded before turning her back at him and getting the bread into the toaster. She didn’t have to do much— just put the bread inside the machine, set the time and wait, then take the food out and toast more for their meal. However, as she did her part of the cooking, she inhaled the delicious smell that was suddenly filling the small kitchen making her stomach grumble. 

She stared at him from over her shoulder and shrugged. “Nae really other than getting rest. Dae yer have anything planed?” she said as she raised one of her eyebrows.

Hiccup turned away and shook his head. "Ah, no, no." he replied, getting his spatula ready before flipping the bacon. He then took out a fork and started moving about the egg every so slightly---he took great pride in the perfection of his cooking.

"Just, uh...wondering." He smirked and glanced at her slightly from the corner of his eye. So, you're free, I take it?"

Hiccup smirked as she rose from the couch. “Great! You take the toast and whatever else. I got the eggs n’ bacon.” He then used his elbows to prop himself up before wandering into their kitchen and flicking on the lights. There wasn’t a lot of space to move around, but it was relatively cozy and stocked full of food.

He wasted no time in turning on the gas stove and getting out the frying pan. “How do ya want your eggs? Scrambled? Sunny-side up?” he asked, turning to rummage through the fridge for the bacon.

Merida grinned at him as he stood up from the ground and she followed to stand from the couch and then she followed him to the small kitchen on their apartment. Usually they would avoid being together inside the kitchen because of the reduced size but right now all she wanted to was to spend time with her boyfriend and forget about the tiring day she had. 

She thought about how she wanted her eegs for a moment before simply replying. “Scrambled, please. How many toast dae you want? On’? Two? Three?”

He snuggled closer to her as she felt her hand working through his hair. “Aw, we’ve gotten takeout every night this week. Let’s mix it up and make somethin!” 

Hiccup lifted her legs and rolled on the floor, splaying himself out. “I’m feelin’ like somethin’ simple. What about breakfast for dinner?” He looked up at her and began to make cooking motions with his hands. “Ye know…scrambled eggs, toast, bacon. The works!”

Her eyes widen as he rolled to the floor, then relaxing as she looked at him with curious eyes. She could feel her stomach grumbling at the mention of food. “Actually that doesn’ae sound bad. Ah think we got what we would need for this.” Merida said before she stood up from the couch “Come on, let’s dae this”

Hiccup raised a brow as she breezed over her bad day, though perhaps it was best to leave it be for the moment.

"My day was alright. Pretty damn busy, but what can you expect when you work in a literal zoo?" He scooted up and managed to lay his head down in her lap. "I’m just glad to be home with you, really."

He closed his eyes and smiled, letting his arms wrap gently around her thighs.

Merida laughed at his joke about the zoo, looking down at him as he rested his head on her lap. A series of emotions went through her as if his whole presence made her terrible day thousands of times better. She moved her hand to rest on the top of his head, gently running it over his bangs. “Aye, me too. We could get somethin’ for dinner and this could be more tha’ perfect”

Finally, Hiccup had made it to the block where he and Merida lived. He looked up to their window and saw the light was on, smiling. “Home before me, eh?” He then proceeded to open the door the apartment building, going over the mailboxes to check if she’d gotten their mail. Surprisingly, she hadn’t.

Mail in hand, he trudged up the several flights of stairs until he finally reached his destination: home. Fumbling to keep the mail off the floor as he reached in his pocket for the key, he finally managed to unlock the door and stumble in.

"I’m home!" he called, placing his shoes neatly by the door and removing his coat and bag. He hung his key up and put the mail on the table near the door before wandering into the living room. He smirked as he spied his girlfriend sprawled out in an exhausted heap on the couch and wasted no time approaching her.

"Hey," he greeted, lifting her legs, sitting down, and placing his legs on his lap. "How’s it goin’?"

Merida instantly smiled as she heard her boyfriend’s voice. She tried to sit up straighter but she couldn’t find the strength to. However when he moved her legs out of way she had no choice but to sit up straighter. “Ah’m tired. Todae was just… ugh. Don’ae make me think abo’t it. How was yer day?”

  'Finally, the day was over!' She sighed tiredly as she gathered her stuff from the workers' rest area and got ready to leave She didn't cross sights with anybody else in the room. The only thing she wanted at the moment was to get home, spend time with her boyfriend and get some rest. 

Her headphones in, music blasting from them and she made her own music video on her mind as she made her way home. On a few minutes time she arrived her destination; a small apartment she and her boyfriend shared. She unlocked the door only to find the apartment empty. Another sigh escaped her lips since she was expecting to see him already there. She took of her shoes throwing them somewhere she didn’t care— she would take care of finding them tomorrow morning when she had to wear them again. Then she followed to throw herself on top of the couch.

Finally, Hiccup had made it to the block where he and Merida lived. He looked up to their window and saw the light was on, smiling. "Home before me, eh?" It was about 6 at night when Hiccup left the zoo where he helped to tend to the exotic animals. By then he was exhausted as he clamber on the bus home to his and Merida's city apartment. He sat there for about 10 minutes, scrolling absentmindedly on his phone before hopping off a few blocks from their home.

He shifted his cruddy backpack over his shoulder as he waved the cloud of smoke the bus left in his face as it roared off. He'd had this backpack all throughout college, which he and Merida graduated from the previous year. And although life in this city was hard for this graduate, it was totally worth it to be able to work all day and trudge home to see his beloved girlfriend.

"Like chickens?" he chuckled, pointing over at a mother Nightmare nudging its eggs into a deep pool. "Well…I’m not sure. Dragons are synonymous with fire n’ such…so I guess it makes sense for the eggs to explode."

He smiled at the large mother dragon and indicated to her that he and Merida were friends. The viking then motioned for the princess to come closer as he leaned over the deep pool. “See, look down there. You can kinda see some light? That’s the egg cracking! Just wait for the big boom and then soon enough we’ll see a dragon swim to the top!”

Merida sat on her legs, the new dragon family member sat over them. She waited for the said dragon to appear on the surface and when it did the redhead girl couldn’t help but exclaim a loud “AW” at the sight of the baby Monstrous Nightmare that wasn’t monstrous at all.

Hiccup smiled fondly at Merida as the tiny Monstrous Nightmare surfaced and clambered out of the pool. "'Aw' is right. How cute..." He extended a gentle hand towards the baby and gave a soft scratch under its chin. "I just wonder what Toothless looked like as a baby. He must've been the cutest thing."

He glanced over his shoulder and saw the dragon waddling over towards them. "All little things are cute," the viking chuckled.

Hiccup smiled, reaching forward and giving the tiny dragon a little tickle under its chin. “Well, all creatures get bigger as they get older,” he chuckled, glancing up towards her. “Even wee babbies!”

He then stood up and stretched, reaching his hands into the air as he surveyed the dragon-laden area. “A tour? Sure! Let’s find a dragon about to put their eggs in the water. You can watch them explode from up close!”

Merida stood up and straighten herself up and fixed her dress over her legs using only one of her hands while she hold her new babby dragon close to her. She flapped her wings to her side and moved them up and down. Merida moved her face away to be avoid getting hit by the Nadder dragon, however there was a smile on her face. 

"Why dae their eegs explode! Why can’ae they hatch their eegs like chickens dae" Merida commented.

The viking grinned modestly, but watched her as she spoke. It was all quite true, but he couldn’t say that. He wrapped his arm around Toothless’ neck and drew him in, so glad to have a friend like him and a girl like her.

"Thanks, Merida…" he murmured, laughing as the dragon leaned onto his cheek. "But hey…I think you’ll be the next great dragon trainer! I mean, that lil’ girl has taken to you so well already…I can’t wait to see what you can do. Especially when she’s big enough to fly!"

Merida turned to Moira, her new pet dragon. “Ah wish that she could say this small forever, she’s so cute!” She said grabbing the side of the dragon’s head and shaking its head playfully. 

"From the air this island seemed pretty amazin’. Why don’ae yer give me a tour around it?" She requested.

Hiccup snickered under his breath at her imitation of him, jumping slightly as their eyes met. He couldn’t help but mirror her pleased smile as she looked over his face.

"W-what am I thinkin’ about?" he sputtered in surprise, looking around. She would probably think he was crazy if he admitted to thinking about their future baby for the hundreth time that day. "Just…I just really happy for you, ya know? You have a dragon! It’s gonna be really fun raisin’ her with you…"

Merida laughed. “Ah am sure that is goin’ tae be fun raisin’ a dragon on the castle. Good think that Ah got the best dragon trainer that has ever existed.” She looked around. “It’s amazin’ all that yer haive done. Yer found Toothless, you trained him. Yer ended a war. And found a place like this.” The princess smiled sweetly. “Yer should feel very proud of yerself”

  "Look at Toothless and yer!! Come on, yer guys aere also ‘peas in a pod’" Her voice tried to imitate his as she said ‘peas in a pod’. 

Merida turned to look at Hiccup, who was already looking at her. A small smile appeared on her face for the viking. Her eyes traced over his freckles as they played a game of connect the dots with them. This one one of the moments when she was so glad that she had came to an agreement with her mother about calling of her betrothal. She tried to imagine what her life would have been like if she haven’t been able to come to an agreement back them or if she had never meet Hiccup. 

Her mind was abruptly brought back to reality when Moira jumped on her lap, trying to get back the attention that she was getting. She turned to look at back at the dragon as she scratched the dragon under its neck. “What aere yer thinkin’ aboot?” she asked silently.

Hiccup nearly toppled over at her punch, but managed to regain his footing. He was about to stick his tongue out at her but paused as he heard her name suggestion. “Hmm…” he squinted at the baby dragon, smiling as it chirped up at him questioningly. “I think that sounds like a great name for this gal.”

He smiled up at Merida and let out a soft laugh. “Does it mean somethin’?”

"It means from the sea" Merida replied softly. "Ah… yer know… we’re on an island." A still the best one she had been to so far. 

The scottish princess turned to look at the baby dragon on her arms. “Wot do yer think? Do yer like Moira?” she asked, expecting the dragon to give a reply. It just snuggled closer to her so she took the answer as a yes.

"Makes sense." he chuckled, watching as the tiny dragon nuzzled closer to her. "Awww...wouldja look at that? Closer than two peas in a pod already!"

Hiccup chuckled, reaching out and letting his fingers run across its scales as he looked at Merida, unable to not let his mind wander back to their earlier conversation. He wondered what they would name their baby...he wondered what they would be like. The viking also couldn't help but wonder how they, as parents, would be like. Surely Merida would be the perfect mother; she was bold and daring, but it was undeniable she had a loving side that she showed to Hiccup, this new little dragon, and of course their future wee one. The thought of it all made him smile softly.
