I was driving past a business here in the Houston Heights, when I glimpsed this painted on the side of the building. I recognized that iconic WWII poster before I realized it was not just any woman, but 14 year old Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who was attacked for wanting an education. The words next to her are her quote, ( “I don’t mind if I have to sit on the floor at school.) All I want is education. And I’m afraid of no one.”

14 Days Out From PRK

Eyes are ok. I can see things relatively far now, but the sharpness isn't there yet. Eyes still drying out very often.

10 Days Out

10 days after my PRK surgery, vision is 20/30 in my right eye and 20/40 in my left. Eyes are still dry, so using a lot of rewetting drops.

String Interpolation in Rails

Interpolation is when you evaluate a variable inside a string without the need for concatenation. Let’s say you have a variable that changes for a query, and you want to add it to your string. dynamicVar = "something" myQuery = "http://some.api.call/?" + dynamicVar With string interpolation, you can use the idiom `#{}`. So now it becomes: dynamicVar = "something" myQuery = "http://some.api.call/?#{dynamicVar}" **CAVEAT** If you’re like me, you usually use the single quotes for strings. Interpolation ONLY works if you use the double quotes.
