Gotfred Christiansen, 62, sailed the seven seas for 22 years, before a fall from a stack of containers, which resulted in seven broken vertebrea put an end to his carreer. "I went to the doctor in '92, and he told me that if I didn't get surgery, I would loose the ability to walk with time. 6 years later I came back to see the same doctor, and he asked me who had done my surgery. I did it myself i told him. What actually happened was that my back muscles had broken apart the cartilage around the injury. I can still walk today."
Today Gotfred works a sawmill in northern Zealand.
